Concealed Carrier Question
Five Seasons replied to Geno C's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Or places that serve alcohol, government buildings and schools. I'm sure I missed one or 2. Edit. culver you sure? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
That's sad. Mother Nature can be a real bitch. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

My biggest complaint was what it did to my vanes and it got stuck in the biscuit sometimes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

But there's still a lot of deer not on alert yet. Ever notice how they change after opening of gun? It's not just the loud noises... Deer don't act like that during turkey. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I'd compromise to something like that. Start small with a 1 week crossbow season maybe? Many states have real short gun seasons. Could be like that. Allow archery during the time as well so nobody "loses" time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

WBs are great. I know we've gone pages on the topic. But it's Ford vs. Chevy to me. Switching to a dropaway from a WB myself, I now prefer that. But that's just me. Should someone ask my advice, I'd give them pros and cons, but one should never criticize someone elses choice.

according to a recent article in American Rifleman, that whole conspiracy is a farce.

would those same woman and youth not already gun hunt though?

I think his point was... that on the net it's hard to tell a joke when you don't add a winky face or a "lol". So some (wnybuck included) may have taken it as truth. I'm not going to get all riled up about it, but there are quite of few people that form an opinion on various topics based off misinformation. I can see someone talking with some buddies after reading that and repeating it as truth. How many Obama supporters voted for him based on healthcare and foreign affair lies? Same concept on a much smaller level.

or one of those stray bullets finally hit her... or an archer 150' from her boundary... or tripped on a root again?

Must be why I never knew what the whether was like outside the last month. Hope she gets back so I can find out again.

and for the elderly and disabled it should be legal. A much simpler, easier method to obtain a permit would be my recommendation.

I've stated this a few times before, but here it goes again. Do you really think hunter numbers will increase because of the crossbow? And what I mean, is that do you think NEW hunters will join in a significant amount because the crossbow is legal. Or do you think the majority of crossbow hunters will be compound converts or already gun hunters? Also, I've posted before, but if you check NYS archery tag sales, they've been increases for at least the last 5 years. So what does the crossbow solve in terms of NEW hunters?

become proficient at anything can be possible with practice. The learning curve is what sets the 2 apart. I know the point you were trying to make, but I'm not sure it holds any weight when comparing professionals to novice hunters. take an expert marksman shooting freehand and he can probably outshoot a novice hunter shooting prone with a bipod. But the time it takes the novice shooter to become proficient with a bipod is less than the time it takes the shooter to become proficient freehand. The tool, being the difference. Less tendency to error.

just be glad that there are a*holes like me, who will take the time and point out lies. Sad that some believed him. The internet is a funny place. You can say anything and people believe you.

Larry, I guess it was directed at the guy you talked to who didn't recommend the rail mount... who isn't here, lol. Sort of an open ended question to everyone.
-
can you link to that? because I could type anything into the window and "quote it". Doesn't make it true. here's what I think you were actually looking for: http://www.pope-young.org/bowhunting_clubposition.asp LMAO

I agree with your first paragraph 100%. I also know hunters who smoke and hunt. I was just trying to depict the image of the "clown hunter" who stalks and smokes and is rarely successful. Not the stand sitter, who is smoking... probably not going to hurt me. We will continue to disagree regarding affective range.
-
if that's the case (as I assumed it was) what's the hate on the rail mounts then? seems it frees up your other hand where carrying a light keeps both hands busy and a less stable grip.

I think it was obvious he was not refering to handicapped as not being lazy... and I will add my .02. It's not that all crossbow hunters are lazy. In fact, I bet the majority will be great hunters and follow the written and unwritten rules just fine. It's the fear that there will certainly be some that will treat bow season like gun season. This will mostly hurt hunters with small parcels and heavy surrounding pressure and those that hunt public land. It all remains to be seen. But we constantly get asked what we're all worried about and that's it. That my peaceful archery season where it's 100x harder to kill a nice buck (not just any deer, but a nice buck) might be spoiled by a guy walking through the woods with an xbow and a cig sticking out the corner of my mouth. That has personally happened to me on posted private land more than once in my 15 years of hunting during gun... but never during archery.

Currently I keep a small high powered light on the bedside table that has an end button... I just feel better with a 2 hand grip that I practice with. Wanting to pic up a 1911 with rail light... Idk undecided. Figured the lights were easy to turn on and off Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Should be allowed in regular and late seasons. Then if you really want to, you can hunt with one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
