  1. generally you should loosen them as well or it'll grow into the tree
  2. pros and cons to that. 1. the more hunters we have the better we stand with legislation. 2. the less hunters we have the higher chance of success and less encounters you may have. it's a win/lose.
  3. you might be waiting a while too. Problem with trees is that they really take time to develop. A guy I know planted a bunch of oak. Going to be his kid that will reap the rewords of those trees, and not him. haha.
  4. i've tried a few scent free deodorants, and none seem to keep me as dry as degree. So I still use the scent free the night before when i shower and again in the morning when I hunt but not during the rest of the season. I aslo agree with wny, the other stuff dries me out. Prefer my irish spring yeah I use the scent fee detergents too for the same reason, but not the hunting versions. I think we use All free and clear.
  5. I'm currently trying to bring an old mature orchard back to life. On 5 acres I have probably 15 apple trees. 2 of the mature are still producing fruit. They're very high and the deer eat them as they drop. 3 are newer plants and harvestable for human consumption and I plan to do that after they're sprayed. The rest are shaded by newer trees and hampered by crowding and dead branches. I started the project last weekend. And have 4 of the mature tress trimmed and have cleared some surrounding trees for light. I don't know how well they will come back, and 2 of them had live branches but hollowed out trunks. I'm really just hoping they produce some fruit, even if it's not up to human standards. On 2 other trees, I've topped them and am focusing on some shoots. Hoping in 2 or 3 years they'll fruit. I'm not investing a ton of time this spring as I want to see how well the trimmed trees recover before I start on the rest. the fruiting trees last year were magnets some I'm really crossing my fingers. If it fails, I've still cleared out some space for vegetation and bedding. Plus some extra firewood. I'd like to add 4 more trees in an open spot as well. Thinking plum, peach and pear.
  6. and as a nation we will never come to an agreement. But a crossbow during archery season, now that's a load of bull
  7. well, whoever modded them is besides the point. They're not exactly stock and again they weren't 200hp crap your pants quick. I've raced a few back in my stupider days and have a lot of respect for them.
  8. thanks for clarifying, and I understand it's all to common in our gov't. Drives me nuts. As far as stance, you can lobby politicians, not sure you can lobby the DEC once they get the power. that is all.
  9. Maybe someone can clarify for me. 1. This is lumped into the budget and not part of separate bill? So those who are voting on the budget; which is far more important cannot take a separate stance? 2. This provides the DEC with the ability to allow crossbows during archery; but does not legalize them during archery until the DEC says so? Don't need a debate, just trying to understand.
  10. wtf? where did I say that? For the record I ride the fence on this topic. The same people are all up in arms about the government telling them what guns they can and can't have but feel the government has a right to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her body? We are allowed to pick and choose where the gov't can interfere with our lives? got it.
  11. you guys are hilarious. They're a business. They're in it for money, not to protect your feelings. Do you honestly think they make more money from citizens or the govt?
  12. Can you do anything to prove her mother is unfit? I still think it'd be hard to give your gf custody over her mom... get hitched real quick? haha
  13. lol @ your neon. If it's modded it's not making 200hp, i't making well over that. And, if this act WAS REAL, I'm very sure it would not include trucks. But I have a modded pontiac G8GT that hauls some serious ass with over 400hp. It chirps when I shift, and the tires break free if i'm not careful. I had a nicely modded factory supercharged grandprix gtp that was nowhere near as scary and that was around 300hp. I understand a lotus elise or mazda miata do not have to put up as much hp to go fast because they weigh less, but they also handle much better and in an accident it would be less destructive then a heavier car. Lets remember F=MA. Heck, my yamaha R6 puts 116hp down at the wheels, but i'm not hurting anyone when I wreck it but myself. And none of these arguments take into account newer cars with stability, traction control, ABS, air bags, better suspensions and brakes etc. How about 400hp in a 69 camaro? lol! but again, that's not a 200hp car. That's a nicely modded 350hp car. And yes the modded SRT4s were very quick.
  14. The UBU chocolate is pretty good. Filing but good indeed.
  15. I agree with you on tenure. And if a school can't afford text books, it shouldn't have a beautiful sports complex. But I wonder about their income from the events. Like I said, a lot of school will actually earn revenue from sports. I'm wondering if there was some corruption (as copying textbooks is illegal). And pay to play is a joke and you know that. That system means only the rich kids could play, and by far and away the kids that benefit the most from sports are the kids who use it as a means to escape from a troubled home life. But when it comes to private schools, they do pay to play... and learn, and sing and dance. But it's not the same for public schools. I can't believe you made so many good points and ended on that. haha. I'm not into the city life either. I didn't mean for it to sound like I'm telling you to do anything. I'm just saying that it would maybe at least enlighten you and others. I think every catholic should spend a day in the life of a Muslim and vis versa. I think every american should spend a days work in a Chinese factory, I think every rich white kid should spend a day in the ghetto and every anti-American terrorist should spend some time enjoying the freedoms we enjoy. It's very hard to argue for or against something until you truly understand the other side. /Gandhi rant haha
  16. frank's guverts is amazing, not as big a fan of their reds. Layer cake makes some great reds. Hard to fine. i'm no wine snob, but be careful where you pronounce that. It sure beats boxed wine, but it's nowhere near the best wine in NY haha. Glenora, Swedish Hill and wagner are all good finger lakes wineries.
  17. honestly, I'm anti-Safe act, but 200hp vs 400hp is a HUGE difference. One can go sideways, the other cannot. I would not allow my teenager driver to have a 400hp ride.
  18. yeah i remember that being easy when I was younger. I'm still young but when you work all week, that sleep is precious. Especially when you've done it a few days in a row
  19. robert mondavi makes some decent <$15 bottles of cabernet. But I prefer a cab or a pinot with venison.
  20. I think his point, that you can not label a child who was born into a bad situation. While the circle does continue in many cases. That child deserves a chance as well and there are many rags to riches stories to prove it.
