A real good morning action wise. Crept on a field on the way out to see 2 toms and 2 hens. They caught enough movement to skeet out of there, but not fast. Typical mid-May form. I might have 1 or 2 more in me. And at least one with the boys. Tries a nap and it didn’t happen. 4am wake ups just crush me haha. Now on to another 5 days of baseball and work. Hunt #3 All sorts of great action early, but my milkshake did not bring all the boys to the yard. A fun hunt already and I’ll probably move soon. yeah i get it. i hunted yotes with my AR this year... and maybe the argument is best for hogs... otherwise a good bolt action will get the job done for 99% of situations, just like it does for deer. Counter point though, trapping hogs is far more productive than hunting. And for the record, my slug gun is a semi and my rifle is a bolt action. I prefer the rifle, but I'd be lying if I said I never used that semi-auto feature on a deer haha. Point is, I don't think in the "us vs them" argument you will get any points from the anti or even the middle that you need that AR for coyotes. We should stop trying to sell that and call it what it is. It's our right to own that kind of gun and for whatever reason I choose to own it is my damn business and nobody elses. However, the attacks are growing stronger and stronger and as mass shootings increase we do need to win public opinion and that's why I asked the question that I did. Did you know that 70%+ of americans support the right to hunt when you ask the question like that? But when you ask if we should be able to hunt X creature the numbers drop. And the more specific, like should you be able to hunt x using dogs or bait it continues to drop in support. Our right to hunt hinges greatly on the middle ground non-hunters opinions. Not on the anti's and I feel the same applies with respect to gun ownership. When the vast majority of americans believe you and I don't deserve the right to own an AR we are in trouble. We need to fight that fight with facts and reason, not with "because I said so".

Ok so a couple points here. The VAST majority of pittman robertson comes from sport shooters, not hunters. Yes many shooters are also hunters, but there is heaps of data out there on this because it's a cause of frustration for sport shooters that their taxes aren't being used to fund things like public gun ranges, just like hunters get upset when those funds are used to build a city basketball court. I bet anecdotally we all know a whole lot of hunters that still have the same box of 12 gauge slugs and same box of .30-06 for the last 3 to 5 years now. I'm going on 2 years of not pulling the trigger on a turkey or a deer during gun but I sure have shit chewed up .223, .40 and .45 at the range. so i'll play devils advocate. how would a ban on semi-auto rifles affect hunting? and i pose this only because it's a major talking point for the anti's and other than slippery slope i've never had a great response, and wouldn't mind having one when it comes up again for the thousands time.

yeah one of our school fields isn't mowed either and you can see where the guy got the tractor stuck and then gave up. There were a few times the kids actually lost the ball in the high grass. it's funny but it sucks because any position other than pitcher gets no action and keeping 6 year old's engaged is hard enough.

i coach t-ball and help with the 8-10 year olds. the 6 year old had a game last night (coach pitch) and they finally mowed the grass but there were clumps everywhere so nobody can get it out of the infield lol.

idk, the mayor of nyc doesn't have a whole lot of influence at the national level. Him and Cuomo have also come under a lot of heat lately. It's not like you could ever really "own" a gun in NYC for a while now anyhow.

So as someone who has spent his career in health and safety, this isn't new. If an employer requires you do anything and you get sick or hurt, it's recordable. That's why things like the hep-B for first responders have always been required OR you can sign a waiver to refuse.

The way I look at it is who f'n cares. You decided not to get the vaccine? That's fine, your choice. You get covid and get real sick or worse? At this point, shitty on you. You had a choice. If I grow a 3rd eye in a year, that's on me for getting the vaccine. I never once stated anything about eroding our rights, In general though I do feel that what Steve and his brand have done for the sport outweighs the opinion of one of his investors and what he may do with his ROI. Also that not a single piece of evidence exists that shows the meateater group is anti-2A or that their views on guns have changed at all.

i've coached t-ball for 3 years now and assist with the developmental leagues. We spend a whole practice just teaching them to drop the bat and which base was 1st and not 3rd when they hit it lol
