Why post political stuff?

Well aware of the challenges with all energy sources, I often wonder if we don't add some more nuke plants. However, the renewed focus on coal was not ok. Pandering to big oil and off shore drilling, fracking are more problematic than some of the issues with solar and wind. Hell, if anything we should be decreasing our reliance on middle eastern oil. They'll be left with nothing! But yes it should be a long term plan. Trump's administration pandered to a dying industry for really no reason. Additional focus on our grid and storage is important. I actually like california's idea of forcing solar to roofing. That doesn't take up fields or lands and uses "useless" space. While I know there are issues there too, we need to stop looking for the perfect solution. -

America likes its reality tv. They love the Obama family and image. He was well spoken and gosh darn it just the right shade of black haha. The suburban white guilt loved casting that vote. What a class act they were (honestly no objection here). But what did he really do? Not much. Although I do think obama care ended up not being the end of the world... Then we have trump. Rude, crude, crass, ignorant, a liar and grab em by the pussy. But he got shit done didn't he? It's amazing too that many trump supporters, not all, but most all agree on one thing. If he could have kept his damn mouth shut. Yet, the one thing he couldn't do was just that. So here comes old sleepy joe. Yeah he's not really all there, yeah he sniffs hair, but he doesn't tweet mean things and promised (not delivering) to unite the country. It appears that american's would rather keep politics boring and status quo then to rock the boat and that's how they voted. The election wasn't stolen, but how much did MSM influence it is a welcome debate. -

His very long posting history makes it pretty clear. It didn't need to be in this particular post. I think even Grouse would admit to being pretty far right. -

exactly... although the idea that many republicans want to roll back a lot of the CWA and CAA (put in place by a republican btw) or to sell federal lands to the states and allow them to sell it off to private parties, or denying that global warming is real (trump) starts to blur those lines. We can all agree that going carbon neutral is good for the planet and disagree on how we get there... that's fine. But when someone tells me everything is fine with the globe and the tons of plastic in our oceans, melting glaciers, dams that have impacted salmon spawning, pebble mine which could wipe salmon out completely etc etc... those are non starters. -

Pretty demeaning of you to assume that a personal opinion or belief is more often rooted in feelings and not in science, experience or research. While I don't disagree that this does happen, I get the impression that you believe those who feel differently than you on a subject are just ignorant, lazy and wrong. Fact of the matter is most of the divisive issues we have in this country ranging from border control, corporate taxes, health care, minimum wage, abortion, social welfare, gun rights, so on and so on are very, very complicated issues. There really isn't a whole lot of clear cut right or wrong. The issue that are clear have been acted on already. Generally speaking both parties want what's best for this country, we just disagree on how to get there. There was a time that this was understood in Washington and I'm afraid that seems to no longer be the case, as was seen by the witch hunts the last few years and delaying the stimulus till after the election. Also it appears that lately it's more common that a politician is concerned with their own self interests vs that of the country and its people... often forgetting that they are servants for us, not the other way around. -

It still amazes me how many of you don't support pro-environmental legislation just because it's pushed by a group that you disagree with on many other topics. I wish more of us (not just this group, but this country) wasn't so afraid to cross "party lines". You can be republican and still believe in global warming and want us to take actions to curb it. You can be a democrat and support the 2A. You can still be republican and believe that covid is real and that masks were needed. You can still be a democrat and support the science that at this point in time masks are no longer needed and kids need to go back to school. You can support trump and wish he'd never have joined twitter. You can support biden and acknowledge he doesn't appear to be driving the ship. think for your damn self -
Hope you not looking for a boat this year!
Five Seasons replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in General Chit Chat
I take this as a good sign for me. I've been wanting a cheaper used boat for a few years now. Something that might not last that long but would help me gauge if I really wanted to go deeper in the wallet. With a pool and a camp up north I'm not sure how much time I'd get out of it, but I'd love to just go out with the fam and also go out and fish. I looked pretty hard last year and anything even remotely decent was gone by the time I called the owner. -

As I posted and linked to several times now, the quote from Cherin and the petition that he signed never called for a ban on semi-autos. Just on semi-auto rifles. That is the devils advocate that I was playing and this whole thing spiraled way out of control and I somehow began arguing an opinion I don't believe in myself, simply because a man I admire in Steve Rinella was called out. So much so, that when I realized a few of my calls had reached their 3 year limit and I could no longer separate the reeds, so I placed an order -
So my 8 year old had a double header Saturday starting at 9. Brutal humid day and the kids played hard. Lost a close one in the morning. We had 45 for lunch and the kids started to warm up before game 2 and my kid took one to the nose. BLOOD EVERYWHERE. A bunch of 8-10 year olds did not handle it too bad, very supportive but you could tell it rattled them. My little guy was generally doing ok but not in the mood to play and was just sitting in the dugout with an icepack. After an inning or so the other coach and I thought it looked crooked so the wife took him to urgent care. After a 90 minute wait the PA said it looked ok and to come back in 2 days if still crooked or painful lol. If it didn't look broke we wouldn't have brought him, but i think it was just the swelling. He was fine that afternoon and we played catch and practiced hitting on Sunday. He's started to move out of the way to catch the ball to his side but his attitude is good. Being a dad is never dull.

took a 4k 60fps video too, but you'll need a newer phone or 4k monitor to tell the difference. -

Didn't seal the deal, but a cool hunt this morning. Around 7:30 it's warming up and I'm thinking this is about it for me. I let go a last call, pretty aggressive set of yelps on the box call and I get some yelps in return, not too far from me. I answer back and she's moving in. My hopes of course is that this girl fight attracts some dudes or she has a boyfriend in tow. Well I see her movement about 50 yards in the brush and she's leaving. I call again and she comes back in fuming. We spend the next 45 freaking minutes together. At one point she came within 5 yards of me. For a good 15 minutes she just nested on a log haha. I know my calling is average at best, but I didn't know it was gay. I'm 3 for 4 on calling in hens this year haha -

It’s been quiet for an hour at least. This absolutely feels like late May turkey hunting. I was going to give it till 8, but may pivot to 7:30. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

you're right, but did you check that out? It does NOT call for a ban on semi-autos, just assault weapons. (also retarded as they use the word clips) So our mags are safe https://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/guns.pdf Listen guys, i'm not arguing gun control with any of you. We're all on the same side, but I WILL defend a guy who I believe has spent his life helping our sport. I don't believe there is any evidence at all that Steve is anti-2a or that his investor has influenced that at all. Phade you poked at BHA and TRCP. Yes those organizations are pro wildlife and pro land. They advocate for the expansion of government public land. That is not always popular with conservatives who believe we should give the land to the states or drill for oil on them. Land conservation is also generally pro-environmental regulation which is also anti-republican for some reason. So yeah, you can consider their efforts to be shady because their political views are different than yours, but that doesn't mean they are anti-hunter, green decoys or whatever you want to call them. If the left wasn't so looney in most other areas I'd probably vote democrat because of their environmental stance. It's sad that this is a divisive issue at all, especially among hunters and anglers. -

You're wrong. The article is here and every question I asked referenced rifles. I've shot plenty of winged critters, and referenced where I own a semi-auto shotgun myself, so go barf somewhere else and enjoy your meateater shotgun, you've given more money to them than I have and yet your hardon against Steve rages on. https://thefederalist.com/2019/01/17/anti-gun-democrats-purchase-of-meateater-could-pose-big-problems-for-hunter-focused-company/ Peter Chernin, an anti-gun Democrat who called for a federal ban on semi-automatic rifles, purchased a controlling stake in the popular MeatEater, a hunter-focused entertainment and lifestyle company. -

Was on the fence this morning. Got to bed early enough, but a lot going on in life and little restless sleep and a full day ahead so I pulled the plug on the alarm around 1:30. I'm partially bummed at my lack of drive this year. I've had birds all 3 mornings I've been out. Sunday is the next day I can get out so maybe I'll get it done then. Also need to bring the 2 boys along once so not sure if I wait or take them then. I'm making an effort to drink less and get to bed earlier on non-hunting nights in hopes that helps my energy for the 4am wakeup calls... but the IPA's are just so good in this warm weather haha. -

I'll double down on this too, because why not. Do you think the fact that big deer drives and banging away at running deer being less common today and less hunters being shot and killed have anything in common? Know your target. Know what's beyond your target right? -
America's Most Ineffective Deer Management Program
Five Seasons replied to Grouse's topic in Deer Hunting
my first several deer were taken on deer drives. You can bump deer and still get shots on non-running deer. I've shot and killed running deer. I've shot and wounded running deer. I am at a place now where I won't do that anymore, or would I advise any of my 3 boys to do so. The point is that I will never advocate for semi-auto rifles so that hunters can shoot running deer. The whole concept implies you're going to bang away. I can't imagine in a million years you practice or encourage this in your mentoring program. If you do, i'll back down.
