16 days till southern archery opens . Are you ready
Doewhacker replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
Shot both my son and my own bow with fixed blade BH's today to make final tune adjustments. I gotta say, I am very happy with both of them and excited to get going. Next week is youth pheasant so that will be a warm up for us. Can't wait! -
I'm no fan of Hilary but that sounds like fake news. "Explanation: The claim appears to come from a 2014 alert issued by the State Department’s inspector general that said $6 billion in Iraq contracts were incomplete or could not be located. It did not say $6 billion had been lost. The alert said that over the past six years, the watchdog for the Department of State "contracts with a total value of more than $6 billion in which contract files were incomplete or could not be located at all." But after subsequent media reports suggested that the State Department had lost the money, Inspector General Steve Linick wrote a letter published in The Washington Post saying that claim was false. "Some have concluded based on this that $6 billion is missing," he wrote on April 13, 2014. "The alert, however, did not draw that conclusion. Instead, it found that the failure to adequately maintain contract files — documents necessary to ensure the full accounting of U.S. tax dollars — 'creates significant financial risk and demonstrates a lack of internal control over the department's contract actions." An analysis by the Post states that because the contracts in question were issued from October 2004 to October 2011, "it’s safe to assume that more than half of the contracts were issued before Clinton took charge of the State Department."

I prefer the ground too, I'm more accurate there. Im trying to tie back into this thread.

Fast bows are a pain in the keester for broadheads some times. If it ain't a whistle it's plaining. I bet mine still whistle but I just can't hear.
-
Hoyt is the closest thing to a Weatherby in bows. I have eye estimated mine to be clocking in at 400fps with a 500 grn arrow. I don't even aim, just pull back and let it rip. Dead deer.
-
ATA standards are more realistic and them Hoyt's ain't no slouches.
-
I have had the whistles before, super annoying. I think the Nap practice head whistles, but not the actual head.
-
Shoulda bought a Hoyt. They are all silent and faster than Matthews.

Wait a second Biz, didn't you miss one with the cross bow the first or second year? How is that possible? Lol

I'd say bows 20+ years ago were a bit harder to be good with. The newer ones ain't so bad from 20 yards. After that is when the lack of tuning and poor form kick in and it only magnifies the further back you go. Once you shoot from farther back you will see, a minor mistake turns into a big fat miss. Also getting back In line with the thread, some folks are fine with larger groups and some aren't. From 20 I feel I should be able to be close to robin hooding an arrow most shots. Some groups I see here I would be wrapping my bow around a tree if I did it but again I hold my standards different from them. Doesn't make me able to kill a deer any deader than them.

How would you react to this situation? (Hunting permission)
Doewhacker replied to regulat0r's topic in Deer Hunting
I stopped reading after Skully said what he did. So far we have the OP being a handy man, paying off the land owners, giving them wine, buying them everything on their grocery list, making them diner, plowing his driveway and jerking his dogs. I think I'll lead with that on the place I want to hunt. "Hi can I hunt?, I'll wank your dog? -
Same here, however it would have to be the picture perfect scenario to get me to consider shooting long range. I prefer to be as close as possible.

Now now Bob, bad guys are given hugs and free meals nowadays. I talked to people that were worried about their neighbors feelings when I asked for literally one day to Turkey hunt during youth season. Needless to say I got permission but then passed, mostly because the birds left. Cut to a year later while on my way to work and the cops have the guy out in front of his house at 6 am. Lol Nice guy. -
Always look at it, short axel bows make it easier to cant which has a big impact at longer ranges for me.

I would be cautious about leaving stands there, might want to invest in some locks. I wouldn't try to push him out, he'll do it on his own I am sure. Maybe he is doing something he shouldn't there and doesn't want you seeing it like baiting, wouldn't surprise me. -
It's crazy what you see at 2 yrs old out there on a consistent basis.

We bought the extended bumper to bumper warranty. I hope I don't need it. It may seem silly but I can't stand the front window design on the Fords. That's all it took to pass. Lol We bought in September and got a good deal, twice actually. That's what keeps me going back to them, I can't resist a good deal.

I'm lucky I guess, never had any issues with my chevy trucks. Next time around I may look at other brands, who knows. I hope I don't have to worry about it for a long time.

I have a pair like these with the Velcro opening for a release to fit through. Very thin and not much for warmth. When it gets cold it's hand warmers and pockets and maybe I get cold for the important parts. I never wear heavy gloves while hunting unless it's sub zero.

I changed and hunt around home in 5R more where there are permits, its just not worth the hassle and it gives me a lot more time to sleep and not have to drive ect. Win win for me.
-
That is what everyone said when AR's went in but there has been no increase in DMP. One of our spots in 4S is exactly the same, tons of doe and no permits for years now. So much so that I have stopped hunting there, I don't hunt there for the bucks. There are bucks sure but for the most part its not what I am looking for and the farmer is looking for doe taken out. He has to get damage permits if he wants that done or fence it all in.

I fixed that for you to better suit my willingness to spend money. First of the night from 60 as is tradition. Then I go in to 20 and work my way back out to finish at 60. I feel like a bow robot at this time of the year. Bowbot
