It's impending. If you guys don't listen to the wired to hunt podcast you should check out the one from 3 wks ago from the NDA speech alt did. Blatantly states a lot of these moves were forced and hunter satisfaction was never a driver. That's out situation here. Bickering back and forth in the thread is cool IMO because at least we are thinkers. Sadly I fear the masses are not and bad times are imminent.

That also leads to varying populations of deer which can easily lead observations done properly askew

So Get Off Your Ass!
gjs4 replied to DirtTime's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Occupy DEC- got my tent packed. Maybe we can just take the law into our own hands.... I bitch to educate- I email/call to have that right to bitch Lmk your plan and I'll help if I can Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Yes. Almost every time they'll go somewhere safer unless you have something they need. This is not the time of the year when you likely will have an advantage. Domestic dogs have a great sense of smell, no sense of time and a surely have a predatory design/heritage. What matters more to you because if you have frosting on a fork it wasn't the look of the cake Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I feel it's due to potential allocation of resources. Build the right 'hood where everybody has what they need and issues only arise when there is a debate over proximity or a give commodity. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Doubt that's him. That one was eating rice too. If your heart doesn't get broken a few times trying to grow bucks in NY - you're not playing the game. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Qdma is a balanced herd for increased/diversified age structure. Unless you study and know "your" herd and ground this in unachievable and the state will and cannot help you with this process. I've always taken does late-'from the ground and from afar. The key to this is know where they'll be based on weather and pressure and having low pressure ground. For small anchorage or heavy pumpkin presence locations without a food source- you've go better odds hitting one on the 90 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Whether it included one or not wont matter to the fun hunter who sees a field full of racks for the first time. We are putting the very reason deer hunting can suck in NY first in line..... And with the lack of ECON enforcement it's a given bucks will fall. But wait.... We have new poaching bills going through so maybe it will all change. Lol. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I think we are the same page believe it or not. With regard to nonthinkers- most on here base their arguments on the DEC on DEC supplied data and initiatives. Let's watch msnbc and try to support republicans while we are at it.... We are headed the same route as what you've lived in Pa deer camp- no deer. This will be done in the name of conservation. Ar s are simply the golden incentive for those with persistence. The lazy gun guy who hunts 3 days may drop out of the game, allow a couple drinks to make it near maturity while reducing pressure. So Bobby Bigbuck may see no deer for week or so but when it does have horns it will be bigger than what he was used to back in the day. I kill does for organic protein. Where and when is based on my management of sed parcel or wandering herd. If I shoot a buck it's because he is 3.5 or older and dons sexy head gear. There are no laws that will offer the end result I desire. Those who believe the DEC will manage big bucks for them are too lazy to do it now. Those who believe the state cares more about their hunting satisfaction than the 90% of no hunters with financial/political pull are also on the road to sadness because there will not be big racks or does left if they get their way. We might as well go back to the gun laws versus crime reduction model. I respect anyone that can consider others as much as they stand their ground... We don't have to be on the same page. The only reason I'd vote yes on ARs is to increase target identification..... The only reason I call people non thinkers on. Deer regs is the state tells us how many does need to be killed is the sate doe not have a clue how many deer we have and the end result is obvious (and mirrors our southern neighbors) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

One of the last wired to hunt podcasts had some great insight from Gary Alt at the NDA convention- he said the numbers were whacked down to allow reforestation through protecting new growth, reducing car accidents and creating a a deer population more friendly with the human numbers. I am no rocket scientist and take a ton of pot shots from the non-thinkers on here but if only 8% of NY hunts 85-92% want deer numbers that don't negatively affect what they're interested in. Take a step back and look at this proposal and all the changes the past few years.... Data isn't there as to what the herd is or isn't ... More predators and snowfall (way) and with regard to regs; It's continually shifting toward kill more (longer seasons, more dmaps, rifles, so-on and so forth )

It is so archers push back and the early ml is their "compromise" ... Just watch.
-
I wrote them for the same reason I still go to the polls despite a republican vote that goes no where- the ability to complain about how bad it is earned by putting effort forth. If you don't try- you don't have that right.
-
I have emailed and called the DEC a bunch of times and it confirmed what many would suspect; they don't give a chit.

The title says it all. I can come on here at times just to stir the pot but I always have the stance of helping or providing a new perspective on real threads. This place is THE worst forum for immobile jack arse self proclaimed geniuses I've ever seen. Yes;Worse than ArcheryTalk. Clicky too. I see it as a perfect representation of most things in NY- The majority are the problem but statistically occupy the most space so they are catered to and then are the first to whine when they can't have the Golden Goose someone else worked for. Got that off my chest- phew. Thanksfor having the forum, thank you to all of the sound contributors and a special thanks to the many deer pros that bless us with their insight here.

Larry- so do you take money out of the bank without knowing the balance? Blind faith and closed eyes are a shared lack of perception
-
If they were the same - there'd be no reason for them. They increase harvest numbers and that's why they're likely to be added.
-
Koon Aid mustaches for everyone. Lol I won't roll over on it or play they're game of acceptance. They have an agenda and we will end up near deer less in no time. You know my track record on here for dec forecasting ( I was even laughed at less than a year ago on rifle in Genesee) and early ml then a massive decline in deer numbers.... Which in my mind they just make up for the most part anyway Who is the NYSCC and the other special interests groups that meet with the DEC on these matters as mentioned in this weeks NYON? I still can use my ml and may for most of my hunts. I typically use my bow for some of gun as well. The only reason I wouldn't is to giving into temptation on using new toys.... Granted the 257 was acquired w deer on the mind, I just don't enjoy gun season anywhere near as much as bow. Phade, at my folks anything that goes bang in the area has to be followed by 4 more reports- but I wish you were right. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I hate very bit of this. Then again I've acquired a 243 & 270, as well as, treated myself to a 257wby. In the past year .....So might as well go with the flow.... Just can't imagine a gun season wo my savage ml but I'd be lying to say I wouldn't love to use that weatherby. Guessing all of ny aside from urban areas will go the same route in the next few. I can't believe how smart people will set here and play cards with the hand the deer report deals. Open your eyes guys. Most have missed the boat here. Is the biologist trained? Who cares? They don't even know how to count the deer that are in an area they have you convinced has too many. If we kill all the does they want- our hunting satisfaction will plummet due to no sightings. Factor in a ranked bad winter, disease, predation spike (did you note coyote season is shorter this yr?) or horrid yr for crops and it is game over time. You don't need state of the art- there is no such thing- collect data and make it happen. Math doesn't work on generalities unless you want to fudge the number of kills claiming only a fraction is reported. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

They don't know, never have and never will. That should help you answer the other questions. Don't you love a game of we need to take more but don't ask how many we have left? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
