I fell rubs are either to demarcate areas- such as bedding or territory or just or just acts of velvet removals or aggression with staging. Point being I be seen a few bucks make rubs but I think they're too post dated for value. Scrapes are much more active and likely to catch a buck than rub lines. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

scope reticles,.... I think maybe we all expect too much

Base it on the gun and use- my 257 wby is for whitetails and it stupid flat- have a minix 3-15x50 w a duplex reticle 0-500 is between the crosshairs and the flat post taper on the duplex- my 7mmrm sendero wears a vortex pat in 4-16x50 but could shoot steel beyond 1k and have moa and exposed adj turrets .... Could use both for either duty but they're setup for their primary focus I have a cheapy savage w the combo doa drop scope- it sort of works but the glass quality (?bushnell) is lacking and the circles are too big and cluttering. It's like using a Swiss Army knifes pliers ... Better than nothing but not very good Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Would take one good shot over 5 bad ones When in doubt swap the scope rings and bases- try again Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I asked Jeremy the great how many deer we should have in 8g- no response yet (3-4 months after). I'd bank their desired goal is reduce the population as much as possible. They don't know how many are here, how many perished in the winters, how to amend a plan designed in 2008&9 .... But they do know how they want more revenue and how they can reduce deer car collisions..... And that deer get the blame for regrowth of forests Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Working in occupational safety and health all I could do to back your point is say unless they're military most folks don't care about noise exposure until they notice their own hearing loss Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

A mature buck does things with reason or he wouldn't have made that age. What's the reason? Pressure, wind, time of year, time of rut.... Are you hunting a specific buck or deer? Scout and then plan not plan then hope Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Why are you looking for rub lines? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

At least dead horses are aren't under the dec control- they'd screw up or ability to kick this thread around longer. Idiots in albany. There write up w rebuttals is more deceitful than most of the hunting product infomercials on oln at 3 am Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Some of the better bucks to die in NY get hit. Know of multiple road kills over 150" Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Other than the lawless Amish in Ohio - their dnr is intolerant of cheaters... One buck rule here would still have guys carrying 3 buck tags and shooting as many dinks and fawns as they could fling lead at. We have a culture problem here- not regulations. If your hopes are the dec improving hunting, let alone mature buck numbers, please wake up Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Hunt it smart and low impact this season- learn their tendencies. Hinge cut for better bedding browse or passage to enhance your ability to get in and out and out them in range. If you hunt this hard- one guy more this once a week- you're hunting prayers and luck. 9 tags or 50 tags set a goal on what you want- because if you're trying to kill 9 bucks or 3 bucks or one mature buck on this ground each year your learning curve is about to get in a head on crash with reality Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Which Kroll book is that?Forgive me if I missed it in your posts but can you throw out the peak breeding dates for some other past years back farther than 14 (in wNY) and when this years will be? Thank you so much. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What I laugh at most is who would have these numbers? The DEC who claims they only relieve 40% of reported harvest? Lol Just google whitetail rut dates- miller, ozaga, kroll I am at a loss as to how so many KNOW the rut takes place at different times in different areas. Trying to play nice- but don't you realiZe how micro spectrum ones observations are? I could have a hot doe in a bedding area on my ground for 2-3 days in September (and yes folks that does happen)..... But if I had the ignorant tenacity to say the rut was early.... Or if I based a pair of 1.5s a doe and saying "it's on"... Think we need to go back to The old -God gave us two ears, two eyes and one mouth speech....but then again we have 10 fingers and forum so everyone is an expert now

Other states offer a much better opportunity due to managed herds, lands and hunter numbers

The early successional forest saving bridgade is why pa went the direction they did. It is also why they are trying to knock the herd back w all the ridiculous high quota antlerless crap. They do not know how to do their job. I would also think because non wildlife matters are at hand hunters will be a small population of those pooled/referenced or cared about.

Or the "rut" itself. Peak breeding is almost always (scientifically) around the 10th.... Which means this is the worst time to be in the woods for deer sightings based on statistics. Drury nailed it with saying the varying moon phases are what makes some feel the right changes time each year. So many variables. Another great comment made lately was based on how hunters have a tendency to build lifelong strategies from a single or limited occurrence instance(s).

My 257 wby wears a minox 3.5-15x50- schott glass (like Swarovski) w a standard duplex. 200 zero -7 at 400. Could conceivably shoot to 600 here w it- due to a lack of rest would say 450-5 tops. Practice to 450 and can hold a sub moa group w rest. My sendero is a 7mmrm w a viper pst 4-16x50. Has moa reticle. Less flat shooting. Shot it 500- original owner had 24 x glass and shot it to 1200. Although it's easier to shoot far, 400+, I like kiss philosophy for hunting far more. Hope this helps Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Are you walking through a field ? If so it has reason. It also can be a moon phase thing- where if it's chase phase with the moon midday underfoot I'd sit out for the am and gentlemens hunt 10- dark. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

They get a bum rap- haven't had any big issues other than some work better than others. Known to blow apart. Would not hunt wo lighted nocks after using them Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I used to have a ton of cheap ones- found having a lone wolf and sticks does so much more (though obviously requiring more work) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
