  1. saying it was a repeater and implying he was ready to touch off multiple rounds is just plain kissing his ass. you know damn well it was most likely a single shot. lol
  2. hunting is hard to say. back in highschool i took a pair of 2 young (small) coyotes on the run at a paced off 250 yards, with 1 shot each with my dad's Remington 7600 pump. another had a buck on a dead run through the timber took 2 shots to put it down but both were perfect and less than 2" apart. for hunting related by target shooting, last target shooting for a 3D championship was a mountain goat down a steep ridge at about 80 yards through the tree limb filled canopy and i pin wheeled it on the 10 ring. another was a guys outing shooting sporting clays. i was offered someone else's shotgun to try, while everyone else looked on. it had just one shell and i was offered the chance to load it up with more in case i missed. like an ass i said "nah. we're good. i only need one". well i said pull, powdered the bird, and every guy there got fired up and shouted like crazy.
  3. good advice already given. here's some more. don't climb anything with loose or very hard bark, like shag bark hickory. cam buckle straps to hold the upper and lower sections together when packing the stand into a location, keeping the top section in place when you're standing, and to hold your quiver or pack to a convenient location on the tree behind you. it helps to have a very slight backward lean to the tree. with the stand level it'll feel like you have more room on the platform. a prussic knot and rope style tree strap will save you time when climbing. i prefer it with any stand setup anyway. ...top section drawn down to bottom section is worth repeating that someone might not think about. that is until you stand up and ready your bow for a big buck coming in, only to bump the top section with your legs and have it crash down on the platform under it.
  4. 3.5 yr old buck is a very respectable one here in NY. what it looks like to me.
  5. around here it seems to be around $80. venison products with added seasoning or pork fat is extra. it's worth it in a sense of hassle and time savings, but not worth it when it comes to quality. i trim and spend more time on my own than any processor could, and still stay in business.
  6. i just came back from the Dominican Republic. I come across as a dick because i basically say a word or two for whatever i need. i can't string a sentence together.
  7. plenty of deer in there keep after them. if you can, shed the outer layers into a ziploc big bag and then use a lint roller before you get in your vehicle. lots of ticks in their different parcels.
  8. kinda thinking about from here on out if i have time posting recipes for the stuff i post on here.
  9. definitely doing chili soon. getting colder. easy to bring to work. have lots of ground venison to get rid of.
  10. their beers are a bit different. IPAs with no IBUs. lost souls was alright but couldn't get passed all the carbonation. saus baus is definitely drinkable but first impression wears off for me and it's just ok. i'll give some of these others a try. their beer isn't cheap though, so i'll get a can or two from now on if it's not in a 4 pack.
  11. Better than other evil twin beers you weren't fond of? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. Last night I worked on cleaning out the chest freezer before we have to move it. Shrimp and bay scallops I bought on sale had got buried within the piles of venison and pork apparently. scallops seasoned and broiled. Shrimp seasoned and brushed over the grill on skewers with last of the Italian carmen peppers from the garden. Added loaded mashed taters. Not sure what's tonight. 15. Didn't take too many drink pics. Tonight at dinner had some daiquiris, a dirty monkey, and some screw drivers. Today at beach I had a bunch of stuff, most had rum. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  16. Tonight was grilled sweet corn soup that was really good and crispy shrimp with guacamole and passion fruit sauce for appetizers. For dinner it was baked potato, onion rings, cream spinach, and medium rare beef tenderloin. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  17. It was good. Went to Brazilian steak house and had every carved meat on a spit you can think of. Then last night was scallops, filet, and lobster. Tonight is French cuisine. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  21. i'm just an instigator. if i was to be totally honest we're going to the carribean/dominican republic for a week then when i come back the heat will be plentiful.
  22. i basically convinced the wife to do more of her great cooking. also said i'm being conditioned for deer season coming up, so it didn't seem that cold to me. we tossed a high loft blanket from cabelas on each bed and keep one at the couches. she seems content with wearing a hoody for now. by all means fire it up though, if she can take it and you can't. hahaha
  23. i've hunted all my life with glasses. i've been pretty successful and have been arms reach away from deer on rare occasion. I've never had any troubles. you're way better off seeing better to pick them out or make the shot then to worry about getting busted by them.
