hope the tractor serves you well for a long time.

i still have that IH 1086. it's around 40 years old now. paint is faded off it but not much at all for rust. wagon didn't last long as a kid, loading it up with whatever.

in my opinion that's the gold standard of transmission setups for that size tractor and application. it saves time and gears. i've seen some go in high of a gear and over work the clutch while still losing some of what's in the bucket. they didn't have a lot of tractor time though. first high always seemed to be the gear of choice with our 90 hp kubota.

Kitchenaid Grinder help / tips
dbHunterNY replied to sailinghudson25's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
i still get some build up with a hobart. fit of blades to plate matter as it'll keep the blades sharper longer. this is where cheaper ones suffer. i'd buy new ones for it and first compare to have an idea then give them a try. i'd think i wouldn't want that stuff coming out anyway if was enough to bind things up. sounds like plastic parts and lots of little things working against you. i agree with others partially frozen will help, as in frosty and still able to get through easily enough with a sharp knife. -
i thought this was a thread asking for a specific handgun section. i got a little excited for a second. never tried it but i've heard you aim high when you shoot through your glass window. think they'd know? lol

i have a feeling like they won't be showing up there. even then i doubt they'd be welcomed with open arms. $87 million of economic prosperity was moved to Alabama largely due to them and the SafeAct. they tried to control fall out and some still say it had nothing to do with it. alabama PR'd the hell of the idea they're welcomed more down there. also the better setup for production thing is BS. they had a goverment contact to produce tons of similar M4A1 rifles and that's just investment money anyway they'd do with any model or new tooling. unfortunately, i agree with you. eventually it'll be harder and harder to stay until the day they leave completely. i hope it'll be like Windham weaponary where all employees buy in with outside investors to keep things alive and well.

Good day of crow hunting
dbHunterNY replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
yup i'd eat a pigeon long before a crow or yote. always just looked at them like a pest more than game i guess. same with chucks. people eat chucks too... so i hear. -
i've found many birds will clam up if you call too much. whether they're getting educated or simply tired of answering a hens that oddly aren't moving and coming to them idk. probably both. often though i've switched calls, diaphragms included, and had a long beard suddenly commit like there was no other option. sometimes it's just how your calling and cadence more than the call. i don't think i'm a great turkey hunter but i think success comes more often when you have options. especially when the private or public land birds are exposed to lots of hunters after them.

in 2015 - 2016 my dream got smashed. i've always wanted a custom shop gun from Ilion, NY and the custom shop facility got closed up and moved to South dakota. nail that started the coffin was the idea that they really mainly did bolt guns and not whatever they made. doing fine when they get out of NY is something nobody cares about. it'll just be another gun at that point carrying only the name. so many people and businesses will more than likely suffer. it'll be like the great depression in that part of the mohawk valley.

Good day of crow hunting

EAT.... we'd watch them pick through cow mature most of the time so no eating here. if i'd have known we would've sent them to ya. -

don't hit the barn on the farm that's it. they'd crap all over gear and equipment and in the last hay crop we were trying to sell. toss a rock into the wall of the barn they fly out and you shoot them. go do some chores and then repeat. when they wised up, we stood at the back entrance while someone else flushed them from clear on the other end. honestly though a good air rifle works much better picking them off the peak outside. -
my personal situation.... tried bag deal and got busted when some things clacked together. for a while i used whatever fit in cargo pants and shirt pockets. one bird over 10 years ago made me bring and try everything i had over the course of multiple weekends to coax him in. hunted with others that had more stuff than pockets. so looked into a vest and have had one since. again whatever works is just that. we all probably know there's more than one way to hit the woods and kill turkeys.
-
probably should've been worded to include pack, bag, etc. definitely whatever works for you is fair game to post. not meant to be a vest thread but more so to get people fired up about turkey season around the corner.

Cabelas tactical tatr 3 vest. Seems to work well. Only thing I don't is the striker pockets are too deep so u don't really use them. - Primos jackpot pot - (NY) mountain hollow glass and slate double sided pot - Hevi Shot shells - Strikers hickory, laminate, acrylic and brillo pads - (NY) Bryan Southhard black walnut and sassafras box call - various mouth calls. Right now from Zinke and primos - mesh gloves and half face mask - (NY) Mountain Hollow crow call - HS owl call or DownNDirty boogeyman Owl call - whatever else I need. Water, license, etc. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Here's my pouch that came with vest and another one that I got. Both allow air flow. Pouch would hold one or ones I'm using that day the birds preferred and is tethered to vest. Easier to get in and out of on the go. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Here's a few that'll be in my vest from last year. Couple Zinke and a will primos. I cut the primos and might cut the others but I don't know. It'd only be for more control. They still seal but fit could be better to stay put and be in a better position. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Had some time so I pulled and went through my turkey vest. Here's some on standby. Eddie Salter, MAD, and the Will Primos one I mentioned that's a favorite. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

when you cut the tape get sharp scissors and just start at the back until you can bare it. easy to cut too much and not get a good seal.

i'm just a 34 yr old farm kid, now with a salary job in the "city", little time to hunt, and trying desperately to keep up with the older more experienced. now that i burned all my luck on your pick my spot game, i'll have to really step it up this fall.
-
i've technically gotten lost a couple times. mainly getting turned around on a drive or pursuing deer. always figure out enough to get me back though. compass is a must. i've even had to rely on those little ball compasses you pin to your jacket.

numbers on utility poles out at the main road is a beautiful thing. if you remember numbers where you went in from.

we try to take any doe early before the rut kicks in. less doe for the bucks to chase. you're not shooting a doe that bucks spent energy on chasing and breeding. your freezer is full early which takes stress off to allow you to enjoy the rest of the season more with one less obligation. fresh venison at deer camp before opening day of regular season gets some fired up is gives you some gratification. despite bow is much harder to take a deer with deer get pressured as the season draws on. also younger deer like button bucks start to become harder to tell apart from doe. as the season rolls into December we've even had a hunter take a 2.5 yr old buck that shed it's antlers thinking it was a huge doe.

i put our secretary's iPhone she was glued to above the accessible grid ceiling so it sat on the ceiling tile. she left it on the desk to go somewhere quick, bathroom or something i don't remember. she had someone call it and it went off. sounded clear as day somewhere at her desk. had half a dozen people convinced it was there at her desk and she must have misplaced it but it's got to be there. then another prankster we work with, who was previously pranking others including me, showed up as they finally figured out it was up in the ceiling. she defaulted to him and he took the fall. i by dumb luck nailed two pranks in one. he completely had the looked of being blind sided.

one thing i didn't mention is washing them first before use. the reeds have a powder on them and i don't care to ingest that stuff. don't use too much mouth wash or the reeds will breakdown. just about a 40% of it and rest water. i even used to use bottled water when living on the parent's farm as they had really hard water. when the season is over rinse then in room temp slightly soapy water using mild dish soap. i use reed separators to clean in between each reed carefully, as in don't get it caught and stretch the hell out of the latex or what material the reed is. the green ones that come with the Primos call in the link i posted work well enough. i've used the spare tabs for dress shirt collars too. once washed rinse real good with cold water. pat dry. then i store them in the butter box on the door of the fridge in a container that allows air flow. seem to last a few years before my personal OCD threshold kicks in. my container looks like a pouch or purse type of thing that came with my vest. i was thinking about starting a post up your vest and what's in it thread but i'll maybe post a pic of the pouch later.
