we picked up a 48" TV from an online only ad for an in-sale store. pre-black friday but treated it the same. showed up early. sales people tired of waiting. as we rolled out with the tv the manager came over out of breathe saying the sale hasn't techically started yet and the rest had to wait! i was already cashed out. lol

Don't spend too much time hunting a flock if you don't here gobbles. Birds gobble in fall and spring. Often beards are back together. Have a group hanging around on property I hunt right now. Otherwise, hen flocks work well with clucks and the normal calls sparingly to draw in birds you see. Kee kee runs work well now. Don't make too much racket though or boss hen will pull them away and take charge. Sometimes you play the repeat game to ruffle her feathers and bring her in. Not often though and it's m9rw of a last ditch effort. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

winds laid right down this morning but going to pick right back up. early this AM should've been good here. Yesterday evening i was beating the rain while in a blind. Tally was 1 doe fawn, 2 button bucks, 9 doe, and 3 young bucks. Deer where out and moving probably so they could stay in cover and ride out the crazy winds and rain last night. Wednesday temps here taking a dive over 20 degrees within a couple days and the wind is laying right down. First of November should be good out this way.

Went out this evening. Lit of rain and lot of activity. Just didn't have anything big enough come. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Half dozen birds gobbling less than 100 yards away and half dozen deer out in field. Not a bad start to the AM. Little bucks out running them around. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

From the mind of an eight year old. Biggest deer in NY
dbHunterNY replied to BigVal's topic in Deer Hunting
i know it can happen. much less likely in some areas of NY than others due to dirt but with NY's hunter density and fact that most hunters could never hold out until actually maturity it won't happen often at all. 200" GROSS and non-typical i'm talking. 200" typical NET is a whole different world. the current world record typical (Hanson buck) was said to be 4.5 years old. It may have grew non-typical points if it lived, taking it out of contention. that buck is 213 5/8". -
Baby back ribs, sweet corn and mashed taters was tonight. No pics. I was thinking if I shoot a deer this weekend i might smoke a whole hind quarter. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Apparently, I was born in the wrong era this whole time! False alarm.
-
I don't consider myself one. however, i think being born in '83 puts me in relative danger of being one? not sure i know the defining dates of doom.

still seems pretty mild out in this area of the state. sitting in my office to bank my time. only have a few days to spare. monday evening and tuesday morning don't look too bad but nothing to be giddy over.

How many bullets do you bring in the field when you hunt
dbHunterNY replied to Deerstalker's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
couple boxes back at the truck, along with a couple tools to crank down anything that might loosens up. just in case. -
Practice draw on deer you don't intend to shoot?
dbHunterNY replied to ApexerER's topic in Bow Hunting
i do it. depending on the deer personality. some deer just walk around with a bug up their ^%$. no reason to have them possibly bust me if i don't intend on shooting them, especially out of a stand that's setup to be there. otherwise it's perfect practice. nothing ever happens and i be sure it doesn't, but i only draw on something have a tag for. just in case. if i was really worried about getting busted by practicing drawing on deer, how would i ever be confident i could draw on a more mature buck that's on top of his game? -
pretty slow now as i don't think we have much of any early estrous doe yet on the property. could change any day now though. some reports of some though and bucks are fired up as it's supply and demand. i've got probably 3-4 vacation days. probably wait for a good front to pass through with a significant quick 20+ degree dive in temp, tanking of wind, and bottomed pressure drop beginning to rise. aside from that it's whenever i can get out i will. right now i hunting observation stands and bouncing around to not hunt anything more than once or twice.

Biggest one yet,and what is his age?
dbHunterNY replied to BowmanMike's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
not a whole lot to go on. frontal pictures aren't the best but i don't think it's 2.5 years old. just got too much going on in the front and mass is not typical for for a 2.5 year old. just doesn't look 4.5 years old either, even for a runt. if i had to put money down and make a decision it'd be that it's 3.5 years old. all things equal the western end of your WMU has more potential than the eastern end. wouldn't change what i think for age though. -

spook what county are you in?

still could get a ticket for placing fold to feed wildlife. i'd just leave it alone. only other things would be if he has a gps to report it with coordinates.

Around 132" gross would be my guess when I added up measurements. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
