  1. I did that back when they had the original titaniums. I think I still have one left. Otherwise they were $80 per pack! I've had one deflect once inside the body cavity. Went thru full sized (dont remember exact age, 4.5+yr old) doe lengthwise. Recovered it not far away with perfect entry slot but 1/2 the arrow hanging out the far side hind quarter. 2. Got mine in mail right after my last post. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. Having shot 3d, indoor spots, etc. It doesnt make sense to me to shoot more than several unless shooting with friends for fun or shooting a competition. Shooting indoor Vegas I'm telling you after a session of 45 arrows its blatantly obvious you're fatigued. Fatigue is bad as form can suffer and you'll create bad habits. Also more arrows you shoot the more you think about your shooting rather than relying on just muscle memory. If you have to think about too much you'll mess your shooting up a lot. Periodic shooting is important though to keep up that muscle memory and strength. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  4. QDMA Sponsor OnX Maps and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership has shed some light on an eye opener for public land here in the northeast. “Using today’s leading mapping technologies, the collaborative study found that more than 39,000 acres of public land in New York, 27,000 acres in Pennsylvania, and more than 14,000 acres in New Jersey are landlocked and inaccessible to the public unless private landowners grant individual permissions to cross their properties.” https://www.trcp.org/2020/09/17/new-york-pennsylvania-new-jersey-80000-acres-public-land-landlocked-private-property/?fbclid=IwAR31JxUu2nzuLNJuHfRHMDjN0qEa_Wp-mxtAUoy6q57QNfiePKJEiPehXYY Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. Guess I missed this. Looks like team 2 is pretty limited for hunter numbers though. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. Just an ill timed auto generated receipt. DEC I'd think has some bugs to work out using new DECALs system through the new vendor. DEC said it was the same vendor used throughout the country though so I'm sure itll get sorted out. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. First buck also first deer. 1999. Taken at around 9:30am from the ground at something around 40 yards with a Winchester model 94 30-30 that my dad took his first deer with. I thought to be sick that Monday and didn't make it to school. Still hunt that same spot. Chair placed behind a big pine tree trunk. The frame to the chair is still there laying in the duff probably. Shot my first bow buck a stone throw away. It was a similar size symmetrical 6pt. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. i have BH209 and everything to go with it for my TC Prohunter. it's still sat in the safe. lol this season might be the one to get it back out.
  9. been flat out busy. a lot of pumpkin beer i see. don't think you'll be seeing much of that from me. not that into pumpkin flavored stuff. lol
  10. i think here the usual take is around 3 doe per square mile. we're doing QDM related stuff (some people more and some less) which possibly might produce or attract more deer per square mile. we're also passing bucks more so than the surrounding area so it gives them opportunity and helps keep the population more balanced. constant fight to keep bucks alive a little more so we don't have to take so many doe to keep a balance. a lot of tags out this year. wonder if higher license sales factor into the target number for tags handed out too. we'll see how we do. might end up requesting to get less if the consensus is that they shouldn't be filled. thousands of acres so i have to rely on each of the landowners to tell me needs for their own properties.
  11. Local QDM co-op I manage (to a small degree) received their 2020-2021 deer season Deer Management Assistance tags in the mail today. We're in Wildlife Management Unit 4C. Curious, anyone hear apply for them whether under forest management, custom deer management, etc.?
  12. this thread sure got resurrected. no need to start a new one though so why not. i used a biscuit for years starting in 2002 then went to QAD dropaway rests. even the new improved biscuits have their down sides. bunch listed here.
  13. Sunday evening after last light. Peep rotated, anchor different, or form was a little off based on each shot being consistently at 4 oclock from dead center. Who knows it was pretty dark. Forgot range..... 20 yards. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  14. Part of the local snowmobile club here. Private landowners will decide if they want trail open or closed at that time. Anyone hunting or riding through is at the mercy of their decision. It doesnt change the problem with people riding when trails are deemed closed due to lack of snow, spring like conditions, or whatever. Only thing that seems to help is locked access gates put up by clubs. There is literally no other way to keep the public off trails maintained by clubs at the appropriate times to not piss off landowners. It's a bitch session that happens every year at club meetings this doesnt change the business that will need to be conducted as usual. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  15. I dont even need to read it somewhere. Common knowledge when talking to big game unit staff and looking at harvest numbers. Good number die in first weeks of reg firearm season. DEC does state this in the official NYS Register doc submitted with details. See link and photo. https://www.dos.ny.gov/info/register/2020/090920.pdf Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  16. Its says right in the proposal under nys register that trail closures related to expanded hunting seasons are subjective to local stipulation. I dont think itll be an issue but I'm sure you'll have some pissing matches back and forth between local folks. No different than anything else. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  17. I dont think its completely random. If you request a copy then they'll gladly give you one. more participation the better. I havent gotten mine yet. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. Thunder chicken tonight. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. Don't touch it. You're ready. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  20. That's part of my trigger. Crisp morning, Canada geese honking overhead, and that smell of fall foliage. When that happens I'm checked out of the rest of life until after deer season. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  21. Had just one of these from burlington beer co. Then drank everything I had left from tilted barn (Rhode island). This was my last one from them. If you're ever near Exeter, RI highly recommend going. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  22. For a while now I've bought uses or new leftover bows for people or shops on the internet. Nothing untouched from the factory for the most part. Saves a ton of money but holy hell do you get some tinkered with bows. Spent hours last night adding and removing twists from strong and cables to get the bow back in spec, cam lean out, and cams timed. Dont have a draw board but thinking about getting one. Would help a lot. Venting over. Lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  23. I managed. Barely. 2nd to last week of regular gun season we got 3' and if I didnt have a sled I wasnt getting back into any of my spots or getting these deer out. Mentee shot a monster 11.5 yr old doe and I took a 2.5 yr old doe knowing the convenience of dealing with 2 at the same time. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  24. I usually am against restricting things like hunting. That said deer were almost wiped out at one time because we didnt have anything in place to conserve them aside from peoples will power. General population isnt good at managing the deer herd, yet it seems DEC is always burdened to keep people happy vs helping out the deer population. In reality if I pissed you off with deer regs but created better hunting would you still hunt? Youd call me an asshole and bitch but damn right you would still hunt and probably enjoy it too. lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  25. I think what's been lost is that income is concentrated to specific areas for snowmobiling. Those local economies there will be gutted if you take away a revenue stream. You dont need a large voice, just loud voices with legitimate concerns. Also you have to consider funding to have an open season. You're paying ecos or maybe DEC staff 1.5 or double by necessity to patrol, answer calls, or go survey deer take. DEC is reluctant to think itll add much to deer take so it's all really just for your happiness. State is already broke from deficit and now covid costs. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
