DEC Proposes Potential Future "Holiday" Deer Hunt
dbHunterNY replied to CapDistPatriot's topic in Deer Hunting
Not to stir this up again. NYSSA sent out emails with updates. Included in email as an action alert and is in the magazine that's both printed and available to download. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk -
You go muddy girl. Now the collection of expensive wrist jewelry makes sense. Haha Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

It definitely can happen. I'll probably never know truly how many bucks I've passed that got taken that same season after me. The number is probably really high. I can understand not being picky. It's all a personal choice. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Was pretty small as a yearling. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

i wouldn't shoot that buck. i don't think you can say for sure that it's base was injured. next year it could be normal or just bigger but still screwed up. injury somewhere else might take a couple years to be normal again. young deer so it'll grow a lot more. if you like it though then shoot it.

third time's a charm. question is how long do you wait?

Can’t find my rail lube , what else can I use
dbHunterNY replied to luberhill's topic in CrossBow Hunting
i don't shoot crossbows but concepts are the same as regular bows. i've heard and could imagine arrow lube that 3D shooters use works well. I wouldn't use wax on the rails it'll collect and hold all kinds of dirt and what not that'll wear on the string. if you have to it's better than nothing but i'd wipe it clean and reapply each outing. save that for only the bare portions of the string. use good stuff too that's soft like chapstick. i use BCY X-wax. -
you failed to mention how much it sinks to all hell after you soak it. lol

@Elmo any reason not to stay with the old release until you're past this season and get things adjusted?

No idea whats going on far south of here. all i know is EHD is really reallly bad. DEC manages with a fish eye lens. your local property and the surrounding neighbors could have nothing for hunting in years. person in the next town over will think you're on crack with what you're saying. the decomposition statements I am finding hard to believe though, at least for the cleaned skull. hide really takes a while as Gman said. Frost hitting tonight and possibly tomorrow night so no need to worry up here.
-
you screwed up leaving the hide on. ask me how i know. lol also i put mine under a Rubbermaid tote with CMU block on top of it and all that within a metal compost cage. i should go out and check it again but it's not going anywhere.

when you get one like that or even less brown it's weird thing to see. we had a buck here that someone took as a yearling buck. as a fawn i was standing in the woods thinking about a stand i just set for someone else right in front of me. literally ignored this white thing in the leaves only 10 yards away. dismissed it was a rotting chunk of white birch or a random 5 gal pail/seat someone left behind. then the pail jumped up and ran away. i have video of it walking out into the fields from the woods. looks like a snow white mountain goat or ghost walking.

perfect put me down for Team 2. Now I have to not pull a Moog and let people know I took deer. lol

Depends. Long distance target like FITA it might be high versus more balanced front to back to keep it from wanting to nose dive a little. Darts are thrown at a short distance trying throwing it from farther away and it wont work well. Bowhunting inside of 40 yards with heavy foc keeps the arrow driving harder versus all your weight in a shaft that bends like a wet noodle on impact, not moving completely in the direction the point is going. Many pros build arrows and dont pay much attention to FOC. Manufacturers have made standard components that just work out to be acceptable when you pick a correctly spined arrow with whatever components. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Victory VF TKO Elite shafts with 350 spine. Standard 22 gr inserts with added 75gr insert weight. 100 gr points. Balance point 9" off end of insert on an arrow just under 28" (nock throat to insert end). Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Got them arrows finished, minus one. Insert weight came loose so waiting for the tool/wrench in the mail. 470gr finished weight. They'll be flying out of a 60lb bow. 17.8% FOC. Hopefully they fly well! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
