  1. Humble people brag? Where does one get their "truly dedicated hunter" certificate?
  2. Never have and never will have a mount done of any animal - just doesn't appeal to me. And I don't hunt and kill to brag about anything - so a non issue for me.
  3. Be sure to use a smaller diameter for the sliding prussac knot hook up.
  4. Belo - I agree up to the point where a group wants to legislate their standards for all.
  5. My village has like 2500 people - maybe 3 times that in the surrounding townships. We have 2 lawyers who do general practice living comfortable but not extravagant. Becoming a lawyer doesn't mean you have to do the cutthroat high pressure thing. Find a balance.
  6. Using it that way will limit the shock and is the best way - limit the amount of fall. Let just say though there is a real good chance my rope demand are a bit higher
  7. http://www.neropes.com/ClimbingTech.aspx New England Ropes combines the highest quality fibers with the most advanced construction technology. Every rope we manufacture acts as an integral component of a complex system, each with different performance requirements. Nylon, for example, is recognized for its outstanding strength, elasticity and abrasion resistance. It is an ideal fiber for dynamic climbing ropes due to its ability to arrest a potential fall. Polyester, on the other hand, has high strength and low stretch characteristics which are well suited for static applications where bounce and stretch are not desirable.
  8. I personally would only use climbing rope.
  9. Here is another goal listed by them. Claim to support access but the very foundation of their organization is to create better trophies. A reputation for better, easier trophies will do more to limit access than about anything they could do.
  10. That site shows 2 kills of 3.5 bucks at the top. Definitely shows they are all about shooting bigger bucks, but not about letting bucks reach maturity as they claim. All about making it easier to kill a little bigger buck and NOT about maturity, QDM or herd health.
  11. I would first decide what my goals where for the lifestyle that would satisfy me. Location, family, housing, vehicles, recreation, retirement goals etc. Then find something I believe I can tolerate doing for 30 to 40 years and COMMIT to it 150%. I did none of the above and am finding being 62 more of a struggle than I would have thought with wishing I could have a mulligan.
  12. Thanks for posting. I hope everyone reads that having a harness is not enough! Use a lifeline and attach BEFORE leaving the ground. Set it high enough so that it is snug when sitting - you want the fall to be as short as possible.
  13. No different than any other gun - it's a steel barrel and you want the best rust protection. While some feel something like TC's bore butter is ok, most go with a regular gun oil or protectant. It is not a cast frying pan that needs "seasoning".
  14. Saddest part is that it is almost 100% preventable with use of safety equipment.
  15. Not doing worse is not a qualification for presidential consideration. Nor do I weigh more heavily anything a reality show actor or any so called entertainer says then anyone else. Catch phrases are generally just preaching to their own choir.
  16. Wrap air tight or vac seal and there is no problem and no freezer burn. Most of the meat you buy in a store has been frozen. Freeze, grind/package, and freeze - limit the time before refreezing and its fine.
  17. An arrow cannot be too long unless the length weakens the dynamic spine too much. An arrow can be too short.
  18. I would hope so unless you place your target tight against your house and shoot at that.
  19. You saying NY's is twice as good? Got a link to anything to back that up?
  20. Doc - what you wrote is literally a mirror of my town both historically and this year. The "for the children" card never got played as much as it did this spring. We have 5 times the administration now as when I graduated in 1969. Catch phrase was "it's only a 3% hike". Yea - 3% this year and next and forever with no change in end result other than downward.
  21. The shop you bought it at didn't help with the setup?
  22. And most are far better written. I was replying to Doc
  23. If they are here legally, why not? People on this forum go out of country to hunt. Anyone using nuisance permits need to be licensed.
