I'll say it again: You can hunt NOW closer than 500 ft. You just need the same permission that you will need to recover when the deer you shoot runs 150+ ft to the adjoining property. If they won't give you permission now to hunt closer, you are most likely going to have problems with recovery from their yard, driveway and under the swingset.

3,000 deer on LI in federal sharpshooters' sights this winter
SteveB replied to the blur's topic in Deer Hunting
My thought exactly Joe. -
The residents can decide now and grant permission. Even if reduced, additional permission will still be required from neighbors for recovery.

I hear this all the time but never have seen a thing to support it. Would really like to see some documentation. -

Wouldn't make recovery from the neighbors legal. -
As long as it was your handwriting she shouldn't have a problem.

Spikes are mostly 1.5 year old bucks. A 1.5 buck regardless of how many points it has, is one of the dumber deer out there during their 1st rut. Still not a simple stalk.

Most likely I knew the situation before the shot - therefore I gambled on the result and lost. Private property rights never trump my hunting privileges. Deer stays to return to nature and feed other critters. Nothing goes to waste.

Thanks for beating me to it.

Hammock Seat For Hunting From The Ground
SteveB replied to Cabin Fever's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Got one this year and been out a couple times. Think I'm going to like it. I will say to use it on a bigger tree - smaller one has it work less like a seat and more like a suspension thong. -
It's laying there on the ground - why not just measure it?
-
With sarcasm: Some say just hunt somewhere else and not to complain. After all it's because we need protection from ourselves for the sake of the deer.
-
Please post the pics of the cats, scat, tracks, hair or any other real proof. Thanks in advance of what I am sure will be coming.
-
Not even a little bit.

Got another 1 1/2 myself. Felt good and wind is dying for PM. And only 1mph Fri morning
-
Got up to go. 20+ mph winds with 1 deg "feels like" means a cup of decaf and a nap. Winds dropping the next few days.

A question for those supporting shortening the regular season in the SZ: How many days should the regular season be?
-
Ask the locals in those states about their access now compared to 15 or even 10 years ago.
-
I can't believe it works, but it must since they keep trying. I run a small blog for a friends hotel and had to go to pre approve all submissions because of it.

Congrats Chris! Ever need a hand, just call or text.

Sounds like a great camp to me.

A 3rd to Bubba and CF. Not to mention they are about the most expensive option out there (last I looked). Far better and less expensive options out there.

Please post any real proof of insurance companies taking action to have more deer killed because of "loss's". I ask every time someone makes this claim and have never seen a response with proof. If you understand even the basics of car insurance you would know they make the same money in high collision area's as they do in low. They just charge more for coverage in the high ones.

So you would lie and say it wasn't you?

Great idea - except that about 40% of the WMU's have zero or low chance's on a doe permit. What do the hunters hunt there if they have no permit.
