  1. Got my license this weekend and didn't even apply for doe permit so those of you that what one will have a better chance. I haven't shot a doe in over 10 years. I dont' eat that much deer meat so one is enough.
  2. The deer are out there 24/7 so I try to be out there all I can. My hunting cloths are gore-tex the rain doesn't bother me usually and you never know when mister big will show and I can't shoot him from the couch.
  3. In 1978 it cost me $ 130 for a shoulder mount with 2 feet for a gun rack.
  4. You should have known only one fox is allowed in the house at one time. You should have a mink mounted.
  5. This one was caught and released in Lake Durant.
  6. I have several pairs of Binoculars but when it comes to deer hunting I go with a little higher end. Depending on how much and type of use $100 pair just won't cut it with me. If you spend alot of time glassing or you use it in low light you might be happier with a better pair. I use 10X42 Pinnacles by Leopold. But its personal preferance so what ever works for you.
  7. One of the things I haven't seen mentioned is if you sight you shotgun in for 200 yards if it is capable of that distance and a deer comes out at 25 yards are you going to remember to compensate. There is to much bullet drop for me. I'm with the guy who said try to get closer. Or go with a muzzleloader or Thompson Center Contender. The shotgun maybe capable but shooter is not going to be able to make this shot on a regular basis. Weather conditions and other factors are going to make this a low percentage shot.
  8. I believe sportsman need to band together and police our own. We can't put those that are license buying hunters down because you don't agree with there methods if they are legal. At the same time we can't praise those that are law breakers just because they are successful. There are enough anti's out there trying to divid us we don't need to help them. If you want to hunt with a crossbow and its legal go for it. If your weapon of choice is a spear and its legal more power to ya. If I chose to go a field with a rifle its my choice. Just go out and enjoy the outdoors you might just learn something about yourself. Good luck and happy hunting.

  10. Has anyone not had hemroids? If you haven't you are (have) a perfect a$$hole. LOL I'm sorry the devil made me do it. On a serious note I value everyone's opinion whether I agree with it or not. I guess that makes me not perfect because if I was perfect only my opinion would count.
  11. I would shoot any bear except a cub.
  12. You are certainly putting in the time. What county are you hunting in? Do you pay close attention to the wind direction and the thermals? One thing I do differant is I spend the whole day afield. Whether or not I'm sitting or still hunting I don't come home usually until dark. 1/3 of the bucks I've shot were between 11am and 1pm. I've noticed alot of deer movement at 9am, 12pm and just before dark. For some reason I've shot very few deer at first light. If there are good #'s of deer in your area and your not seeing them I'd keep asking why. Even in the adirondacks I see deer I just don't see that many bucks, but I've never hunted there during the rut.
  13. Nice pic's the next time I hope your standing over him.

    Tips?

I could give you a bunch of tips but since I've never shot a bear myself I'm less than an expert.
  15. Definately nice eyes.
  16. My uncle used to trap the marshes near Jamaica bay Queens for muskrats and did quite well. ( 40 years ago)
  17. I have never posted my property, but all the land around it is posted. My neighbors let me hunt so anyone that can hunt them gets to hunt me anyone else is trespassing because you can't get to my property without going through them.
  18. I would have to wonder how much time you spend hunting and whether you are still hunting or stand hunting. What hours are you hunting? I also wouldn't hunt the bedding areas but the trails on the outskirts going in and out of.
  19. I take my hunting seriously money is not my bottom line.
  20. That depends on what you consider small. I try to shoot 2 1/2 year old bucks and 9 out of the last 10 years I have. But I have also shot several 1 1/2 years olds in the past the weighed more than many of the 2 1/2 year olds.
