  1. Operation has never been an issue.. the action will eat everything.. 2in on factory ammo is pretty good! Never ran the hornady you may have found a good one! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  2. I've had a love/hate relationship with mine. The biggest problem that I ran into was ammo... very inconsistent. Tula, federal, wolf, Winchester, all had very different zeros, velocity, and terminal ballistcs.. more temperamental then anything else I own.. once I started loading for it things came around very quickly and its evident the gun likes what it likes.. run a 150 grain nosler ballistic tip in front of a heavy load of reloader 7 and it will clove leaf at 100 yards all day long... but the velocity it slow, well below the recommended speed nosler recommends for that bullet and it shows (2 deer with good hits that were tracked for miles with an exit wound the same size as the entrance). On the advice of a local gunsmith the next group I loaded was a 123 grain (308 dia) speer varmint grenade with a full load of accuracy 1680... would hold 1 1/2" at 100 yards, cronographed at 2100 fps, right in the sweet spot for the bullet..(2 deer down no tracking) the gun was a huge headache at first, now I wouldn't trade it. It is second only to my ruger carbine (think 10/22 but in a 44mag) for my go to deer gun. Nice but enjoy it! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  3. Just my 2 cents here.... I was becoming very disappointed with what was on the market... biggest problem was once the knife lost it original edge, it wouldn't hold an edge after resharpening.. I have some metal working background so I started making some... this is what I discovered... lots of carbon in the steel... the more the marrier... will make a very sharp edge and holds the edge after resharpening.. 1095 and 52100 will cut very well and is very forgiving in the heat treating process.. the trade off??? It's not an axe, and needs to be oiled... similar results with tool steels like d2. When you get into stainless thing start to get very precise... miss the heat treat by a few degrees or miss the back purge and the quality quickly degrigates. Quality control nowadays isn't there with most commercial manufacturers as they look to cut cost.. (and the Chinese roll of the dice).. So if you want a good knife, be prepared to air out your wallet... and buy a hatchet... here is a couple of my favorites I made..... Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  4. I must have gotten the one crapper Milwaukee.... Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  5. Can't speak for the levers, but I routinely carry a ruger carbine (same size as a 10/22, but in a tube fed 44 mag.) Plain and simple... point, shoot, things fall down...on the spot, no tracking. Limited to about 100yrds, but I wouldn't hesitate to take on anything in NY or N. America for that matter. Hand loading makes it even better! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  6. Never used one? How do you quarter deer?[emoji848] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  7. Its not about the wall... not why Trump was elected. The house (dem, rep) have a god complex because they control the money... "You dont matter because we take your money at will and make you dance to get it back" This is the place Trump has decided to begin exposing what's truly going on so people might begin to become engaged again... you know, drain the swamp. Do I think more needs to be done on border security.... absolutely... but all this shutdown stuff about 5.7billion dollars??? Yea its simply showdown time. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  8. Bosch? Interesting... have to look into them. As far as the Milwaukee goes, not sure I can buy another one.. only had it about 6 years and I'm lucky to use it one or twice a month... didnt expect to strip the gears out. Makes me jittery to spend that much again on the same thing.. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  9. A sad day here in my empire of dirt... my sawzall has passed.[emoji17] A replacement is in order. What's everyone use and how does it holding up? Mine was a Milwaukee and I stripped the gear box out.... suggestions for a new one? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  10. Please don't show proof...[emoji2957] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  11. Funny you should mention this.... Tioga county was the last country to report.. Around 15000 votes cast... Cuomo lost.. Sounds reasonable for that area. However in the congressional race there were around 5500 votes, Tenny one but by too few votes to achieve total victory... my question is in that completely redneck county (no offense, I grew up there) 15k people voted but only 30% voted in the congressional race? Seems odd to me. The other part is The libertarian party needed a certain percentage of vote to guarantee a spot on the ballot for the next 4 years... sharp made it but by very few votes. He had so few votes I must be freinds with everyone that voted for him, even the Green party out voted him.... I do believe there are some things that should be looked into by outside resources and this may be one of them. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  12. With that line up I can only imagine what the ticket prices will be..... $75 to $100 to see just one of those acts.... Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  13. 2 things..... first is thick undergrowth.... are the deer there and you dont see them during shooting hours? Once deer become pressure cover becomes more important then food, and if you hunt the same stands the deer will catch on.... 2 what are your cameras and tracking telling you? If you don't monitor what the deer are doing (as in figuring out where the deer are going and why) your plots will merely be feed bins at night... also you said you plot is dead by hunting season, is because its overgrazed, or past maturity, or wrong plant for the time of year or a food source outside of the property that doesn't nessatate the deer to feed elsewhere? Homework is key... Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  14. I vaguely remember I believe it was in 85 or 86, we had heavy snowfall in the 1st day or 2, but its definitely been a unique season! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  15. Access is important, but I have to disagree with the statement on availability of cheap clothing and ammo. If you can't get ammo, developing basic skills/interest doesn't happen. Many tin cans and soda bottles get harvested long before your first game animal... keep the cost of entry high enough, it becomes cheaper to play a round of golf... 16. Congratulations to you and your son! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  17. Nitrogen is a product of decaying matter, so not really. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  18. 2 different end results.... Farmer are feeding the world, so every acre, every bussel matters. Me? I feed deer that were eating something before I planted, and will after I plant. So with that in mimd, I want to augment whats there.. not kill it off then replant for a 0 net gain. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  19. Now your assuming glyphosate is used..... Ive run most of my no-til without.... and it works well for food plots. My methodology is a bit different... Soil sample, adjust (this in itself will push out alot of weeds), scalp with the brush hog and plant. Im not looking for max yield... Im looking to add to an exsisting ecosystem... 20. An old windmill laying on the ground next toa hand dug well that it used to pump water from. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  21. I do.. every year... I dont have the time (or money) to replant... so yes. You can tell alot by what is currently and how well its growing.. but stunted growth can be caused by different factors, so in my opinion its easier, quicker amd more economic to fix any deficiantcys before hand, then 1 or 2 months later when your growing window has moved. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  22. To the truest sence Dom, your correct But seed contact with palnting is everything. The no-til is only cutting a slit, so there is minimal disturbance... Plus Im doing a planting in 1 pass, with smaller equipment, much fast and more economical then conventional planting. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  23. The air planters didnt use sized seed disc.. one size fists all. The mechanical heads uses the seed discs, but no blowers. The fert boxes are fully adjustable, but finding good boxes is almost impossible. The latest trend is 55gal drums and injecting the fert as the coulter opens the ground. 24. It worked very well. can turn about 3 acers an hour. The A/C stuff was always leading edge in its day, and was built before the tractors were 200+hp so it can used with small tractors. The downside is all of it is its all 50+ yrs old so its well used when you find it. Most parts are still avalibe used, some new, but you will have to go through it before you use it. The best part of the A/C's is the flexability.. 2 different frames, 2 different seeding head systems, multiple heads for each system. Multiple tool bars so you can equip it with other system, or change the plant widths as needed. yep I like it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  25. The lack of "service" in the service industry is whats killing most of these retail outlets.. Why should you deal with someone who knows less about what you want then you do? Its the corp. models that promote it.... why pay someone $20hr (thats a plumber) to work the plumbing isle when you can pay someone $10hr to consume oxygen??? Many people like myself simply turn on the interweb to buy, just so I dont have to share my oxygen with an employee... And the companys dont get it or dont care....(aka.. by-by Sears, Advance,... and many more) Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
