  1. Thanks, Rob.... As I remember it, I spent a lot of time that summer sitting in the sun on the stoop out in front of the pool hall, watching the '55 and '56 Chevys and Fords go by and smoking Lucky Strikes...
  2. Many, MANY people have told me that !! <<grin>>.... By the way, the loon pictures are awesome....<<smile>>....
  3. Actually, the birds in Real's pictures could be most any bird you want them to be... Personaly, I think they were the last remnant of the nearly extinct Kazooniezoonie bird. The Kazooniezoonie bird is nearly extinct due to it's strange social habit of flying in ever decreasing concentric circles until it flies up its own a**hole....
  4. By the way, Tim...Welcome to our forum
  5. What covert said... That only applies to semi autos .. There is no magazine capacity limit for lever actions or pump guns. If you want to hunt with your Great Granddaddy's Winchester 73 that holds 12 rounds, have at it... If you want to put a 10 round aftermarket box mag on your Rem 7600 30-06, knock yourself out !
  6. Okay, Water Rat...Where did you find my kindergarten picture ?
  7. Stoney, I don't think it is illegal to carry your license/tags in your backtag holder, but the DEC recommends that you don't. Compared to a wallet, a backtag holder is relatively easy to lose. I have lost several over the years.
  8. I'm among the WALLET guys.. My wallet goes everywhere with me. I hunt deer, turkeys, geese, ducks, rabbits , squirrels, upland game birds, and I do a lot of fishing( which is on the same license). There is no particular piece of gear that goes with me in all of those endeavors, other than my WALLET... I have never had a wallet go through the washer, but I have taken a few unscheduled dips in creeks, rivers, lakes and swamps.
  9. Every now and then even a blind hog finds an acorn.. After seeding and fertilizing my buckwheat Saturday, this rain that we got overnight should initiate germination.. That stuff should be popping out of the ground within a few days.
  10. Good for you, Growie !! I MAY be done also....Buckwheat is in waiting for the blessed RAIN, and I plan to let it and my clover do the work this fall. I may have to mow the clover one more time, depending on weed growth, but that's only about a six hour job. Except for the price of a tank of fuel for the diesel JD tractor, my expense is done for this year.
  11. Looks like you're still fishing nymphs... Try any dry flies ? Looks like fun....
  12. What an awesome fish....And a cool thing is that Atlantics can be released and will live to spawn again, unlike Pacific salmon that die after spawning.
  13. The last semi rifle to look "moderately cool" was the FN L1A1.... The rest look like a side order of s**t....<<grin>>..... Now an M1 Garand.....THAT is cool...!!....
  14. Who's your favorite ?? Spanky or Alfalfa ....?....
  15. GREAT stuff, Doe...!! Nice to see that your boy is better looking than YOU are ! Must take after his Mom... When you get ready to load, give me and Lawdwaz a holler...We should be able to get you going with some pretty specific component suggestions. I'm sure there are other 7mm08 guys on the forum that can give some good info also.
  16. Scary stuff, Girlfriend.... Hoping you are OK...Keep us posted...
  17. I hear you, Stubby... It's a moot point with me...I don't do a lot of steep hills anymore, and when I do, I do them very SLOWLY.... I can still get to the top of the mountain, but it takes me a lot longer...<<sigh>>...... It doesn't seem like all that many years I was carrying heavy loads of moose, caribou and elk up and down hill in Alaska and some other totally awesome places.. Damn near killed me then, and I was in the best shape of my life. I nearly get a heart attack nowadays just THINKING about it...
  18. I planted an acre this morning.....75 pounds of seed, 150 pounds of 15-15-15...Broadcast the seed and fertilizer with my buddy's ATV broadcaster and then did a light discing to work it in.. I am currently praying for rain for prompt germination... IF we get some rain soon, and IF we get a "reasonable" amount of rain, and IF we don't get an early frost, I may have mature grain by the end of September. Other wise, I still hope to have enough high nutrition greens to benefit the deer, plus improving the soil in that plot for whatever I decide to plant there next year.
  19. 7600's view....FUNCTION BEFORE FORM.... Pygmy's view....LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO HUNT WITH AN UGLY GUN..... ...........................GRIN...................
  20. Religious ? Ix-nay on the eer-bay....
  21. So what you are telling us is that as soon as you get a set of balls, you'll go fishing ?
  22. Basic downrigging is not rocket science.. Simply a method to present a trolling lure or bait to fish at controlled depths on relatively light tackle. Lots of fun to had with them without getting too expensive or complicated.
  23. Either round is capable of killing deer with good shot placement. However, the .223 is basically a varmint caliber that can be used effectively on deer, but it has its limitations. The 7.62 x39 is a .30 caliber cartridge with energy levels similar to a 30-30 win. For deer hunting it is definitely a better choice.
  24. Our local Wegman's has them and they are very good ! I have been alternatively buying the Famous Dave's and the Vlasic ZESTY bread and Butter chips. My assessment...The vlasic have a little bit more crunch, but the famous Dave's have a little better flavor . As far as the amount and consistency of the HEAT, they both seem equal to me.. Both are very good.
  25. I'll keep an eye out for them ..
