DANG, Jerry !! Those look good...I'll be right over..

I planted clover mixed with triple cleaned oats last year the first week of September..The deer worked the oats well in the fall and the clover came up like gangbusters this spring. It has done well this summer despite the drought. I just gave it a second mowing last week to control the weeds, mostly Queen Anne's Lace. Best clover I have ever had.. It is thick and lush. I almost hated to mow it, but I don't have a sprayer, so my main method of weed control is mowing.

I found the Grillos in the Corning Wegmans and bought a quart.. They are EXCELLENT ! Very unique flavor and texture... Thanks for turning me on to them..They may become my favorite locally available dill..

Those socks would look cool on my memory shelf next to my Spiro Agnew wristwatch ..<<grin>>...

I no longer bowhunt but when I did I generally did the morning/evening thing, seldom if ever an all day sit. Gun hunting, I sit all day opening day and sometimes on high hunter activity days, like Thanksgiving. The spot I hunt in PA I STAND against a tree all day, because in that spot my visibility is dramatically reduced if I sit down. I hunt mostly our own property ( 107 acres) now in NY and I don't stillhunt much because I don't want to chase the deer over to the neighbors. I generaly hunt one of ladderstands in the woods mornings and then watch my food plots from a ground blind from mid afternoon until dark.

That's OK, Culver...I've been accused of having fat fingers myself. Like that little Dutch Boy who stuck his finger in a dyke.....

A .358 Win necked to .30 cal is a .308 Win. A .358 Norma mag necked to .30 , perhaps.? That would be a screamer...I'm sure it's been done and somebody has probably given it a title..

Steven Van Zandt was one of the major characters in the Sopranos throughout the entire series. He was shot in one of the final episodes and was not expected to survive, although it was never said that he died.

I have an interest in the Irish Revolution, ie the Easter Rebellion, etc. One of my neighbors, now long gone, was an Irish American lady...She was a pistol. I remember one of her songs... " Ireland was Ireland when England was just a pup.. And Ireland will be Ireland when England is all washed up.. Well I'm an Irish Catholic and I go to Sunday Mass And every English sonofabitch can kiss my Irish ass ! "

Sounds like something I would like..I was a HUGE Sopranos fan and I also loved Boardwalk Empire.. I may have to ask The Mermaid to show me how to navigate Netflix..She watches silly Limey stuff like Dr. Martin on Netflix all the time.

Cool, Jerkman !! Any idea where I can get a pair of Hilary Jockey shorts ? I'd like her picture on the INSIDE of the butt...

Culver..What is a 30-358 ? A 30-06 necked to .358 would be a .35 Whelen.... What is the parent case ?

Stubby...You have never been one to afraid of a little muzzle blast or recoil.....<<GRIN>>... Good luck with your project.

Airedale is correct as usual. Any commercial factory loaded ammo will be fine. Since the 30-40 Krag was never loaded with black powder, all rifles chambered in it are designed for modern smokeless powder loads. As long as the rifle is in good condition, it should be safe to fire with any factory loads. the only way you could get in trouble would be if you tried to hotrod it with hot handloads to turn it into something it was never designed to be. The 30-40 is an excellent deer cartridge and has laid low many an elk and moose, too. Enjoy your Grandaddy's rifle.

VERY cool ! I have seen a few while I was hunting in Alaska.. Never had a minute's trouble with one, but every one I saw just looked like he had a chip on his shoulder.. After seeing a few I decided I might need a bigger gun, especially while packing loads of moose or caribou meat.

Old plaid Woolrich = Pennsylvania Tuxedo... I had two in my younger days...A few years ago a friend gave me one that was practically like new, but it was just a tad too small for me...One of our forum members now owns it, and I hope he is wearing it in good health.

Yeah, me too, Grampy ..However I need another rifle like I need another hole in the head.. Besides that, if I were shelling out the sheckels for a Sako, it would be like Moog's OTHER rifle, the full stocker, and it would be in a different caliber. ( Can you say 6.5 X 55 ?)....hehehe... Moog is my HEE-RO ....When I grow up I want to be just like HIM !

Dang !! The Good Lord loves a romantic !! This fall I may just use a resurrected 1903-A3 Springfield...Just because....
