Those things are an abomination...I only know one guy who ever said that he used the open sights through one of those things and I suspect he may have been lying to me...

Sock the WD-40 to it....Work the hinge and the opening lever until it functions more freely...You aren't going to hurt it by opening and closing the action as long as you have some lubrication in there...THEN when it works more freely, cut out the WD and put some gun oil in it... Then buy some cheap promo loads and shoot a couple hundred rounds through it..Many double guns work pretty stiff until you get a few hundred rounds through them. It is a quality firearm and it would be a shame not to use it, OR if you do not want it, sell it to someone who will use it. You mentioned ejectors...They would be inside the forend..Make sure they are lubed and operating freely also.

Growie, if you run out of rocks to pick on your place, come on over to mine..I have lots...<<GRIN>>.... Seriously I'm thinking about hiring a couple of Amish kids the next time I plow...I can drive the front end loader while they load the rocks in the bucket... -
Atomic Fireballs.... Reminds me of the time my Uncle Fester decided to rub some Vaseline in his crotch to relieve some chafing, but accidently used the Vicks Vaporub instead...

I have no personal experience with Federal factory loads, but I did a quick search on it and the cartridge appears to be loaded with Barnes TTSX bullet, with which I have had considerable experience. They don't expand as dramatically as ballistic tips ( with which I have ALSO had considerable experience) but they do expand and usually pass through the animal and raise quite a lot of hell while doing it. They kill as well and as quickly as any bullet I have ever used and if you happen to take a shot at a less than perfect angle they penetrate better than most expanding bullets, while maintaining all or most of their original weight.

Bummer, Fishon... I talked to a buddy of mine the other day who lives in southern Ontario, Canada, and he says it is very bad up there.. Many of his neighbors are selling livestock because they don't have enough hay to feed them through the winter.

No need to over-analyze bullet choice for deer hunting with chamberings like the 30-06 or many other standard chamberings. ANY expanding bullet that your rifle shoots accurately will get the job done and with decent shot placement the deer will not go far. Most stories of bullets "penciling" through and not expanding are just that,, STORIES.. It is a great excuse for somebody who THINKS he made a good shot, but did not, and cannot confirm it because the animal was not recovered. Actually, although I have no experience with them, I suspect that most any deer drilled the boiler room with a FMJ is not going very far either.

After having 0.20 inches of rain in the month of July, my little corner of Steuben County has had over 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours..... Looks like I'm gonna have to mow my back lawn for the first time in about 2 months....Hehehe...
-
Sight in dead on at 100. It will be less than an inch high at 50 and only a couple inches low at 200, should you ever hunt where a longer shot is possible. All you have to do is hold dead center ribcage and you are in the kill zone anywhere from point blank to 250...
-
Sure thing...The old 30-06 is just as efficient a killer at 25 yards as at 250 yards. Heavier for caliber bullets tend to be a little less destructive than light bullets at close range. A good choice would be Remington Coreloct 180 grainers.

Back to the REAL buckwheat..I checked the plot this morning and after being in the ground just since Saturday, the first seedings are popping up. However, after getting 3.5 inches of rain today, some of it may have washed away...

Mind your own business.....GRIN.......

No, but I have the same haircut...

GO ! GO ! GO ! My Mom told me years ago that if I wanted to do anything and could afford it, DO it, while I was still able... I took her advice and have never regretted a minute or a dollar of it. I know SO many people my age who say they always wanted to do a trip like that but just never got around to spend the $$$ or the time to do it.. Now it's too late....Sad.... Do it while you can, My Friend.....

Do gun laws make us safe?
Pygmy replied to NFA-ADK's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I'm all for due process.. However these are not choirboys that the cops are dealing with, including the poor underprivileged youth who stole a car and happened to get his slimey ass shot because he ran from the police. He probably deserved worse than that. These police officers are putting their life on the line every day protecting John Q. Public. They deal every day with people who would just as soon cut your throat or steal everything you own as to look at you. They do the CRIME they are taking their chances...
