Hehehehe...Been through that ALL, Doe ... Reminds me of a story....The time I stood buck naked in my kitchen and shot a fox... One night about 4:00 AM I heard my chickens squawking....I always slept in the nude, so I padded out into the kitchen in my altogether.. In the light of my security light, I could see a red fox racing around the chicken run...My wife's 20 gauge 1100 was handy in the corner, since we had had a Cooper's hawk take a chicken a few days earlier... I chambered a round of #6 shot and cracked open the door...Mister Red Fox made the mistake of stopping and looking at the house, at which time I dropped him in a heap right next to the chicken coop door.....I set the gun back in the corner and went back to bed...My wife never heard the shot...

I caught my first dry fly trout of the season this afternoon... Awesome hatch of Hendricksons , but the trout were largely ignoring them, at least on the surface...Damn flies were landing on me and there were so many on the water it was hard for me to keep track of MY fly.. Found a seam with a couple of trout rising sporadically, and after a lot of effort trying to get a good drift, finally raised them both..The first did not hook up, but I landed the second...A beautiful fat brownie about 13" with gorgeous color, including the white edged fins...

Cool, Doc....That makes three of us on the forum who use the exact same gun , right down to the barrel length and camo pattern....You, me and Mowin'..... OOOPS, my bad.....Mowin' and I both have trebark camo....Same barrel length and vintage, though..Early 90s and 21" bbl....

Reminds me of my ninth grade homeroom teacher....We used to call her " Billy Goat"....

I had chickens and domestic cats for years...Domestic cats generally won't bother chicks...Just the feral cats that were half starved... Those cats never lasted long around my place...I think my ex-wives homicidal, serial killing donkeys probably ate them....

I got my info from my Dad also, Jay...I may be old, but I ain't THAT old...Hehehe...I also have some old trapping books that illustrate the grading on skunks....P.S. The most I ever got out of a skunk pelt was a quarter... Even in 1962, that wasn't worth the effort, not to mention the stink...Hehehe...

I have seen a number of skunks with little or no black stripe on their tail...Back in the 1930s and early 1940s, skunks were a valuable furbearer, often bringing $5- $10, which was big money in those days...When the furs were graded, the ones with the LEAST white on them were graded the highest, thus worth the most $$….The lower grades tended to have the most white...I have seen more skunks with all white tails than those with a lot of black on the tails..

Great horned owls LOVE skunks...Perhaps an owl had a skunk feast and left the tail there....

So what's the scoop on the launches, now...Is it just private launches and marinas, or are state, town and city public launches going to be open too ?

Glad to see that some SANITY is finally returning.....

I shot several with milsurps and military FMJ ammo myself..A Chilean Mauser M1895 in 7MM and an Oberndorf K98K Mauser in 8 MM.... The last few years when there were still a fair amount of chucks in my local hayfields, I used mostly my centerfire hunting rifles to keep my eye in shape with them .. Mostly a 25-06, a .280 Rem and a 7MM08....

I also release nearly all of my stream trout, especially the wild ones...However, I do enjoy doing some worm fishing early in the season and sometimes the fish is hooked too deep to have a good chance of survival..Lip hooked fish and nearly all fly caught trout go back....The few I keep taste pretty good though...<<grin>>….

Are you gonna fry 'em up as pretty as that brookie that you posted earlier ? That looked so good it made me hungry for stream trout..!!...
