  1. Fixed it for ya.....
  2. Prayers from Sis and me......
  3. I would have to go through them to remember for sure, but I know I have Two full 9.5 inch double beards, one 8.0" inch double beard, one quadruple beard with a main heavy beard and 3 smaller ones, and my personal favorite, which has a huge, thick paintbrush main beard and a smaller beard...I think there is another one or two, but I'd have to sort through my beard collection to know for sure...The quad beard was taken in Kentucky, one of the doubles in Canada( just last year) and the rest taken here in NY....
  4. My experience has been similar, TF....Good that the FM is falling on pretty crappy weather...Things will improve in a week or so... Of course YMMV....One thing for sure..You ain't gonna kill one from the couch.. Now I am fortunate because I can be hunting five minutes from my driveway..If I had to drive an hour or more, I'd be a lot less willing to get up early and go out until the weather improves and the moon fades a bit..
  5. You'd be a lot better off finding a place where you are HEARING gobblers, and hunting that... Dust bowls are cool, and yes, they are encouraging sign, but if you want to kill a gobbler, you need to find where they are roosting, and, more importantly, where they are going to meet hens..
  6. Hehehehe..Sounds like to much work for an old fat fart like me !!….Very cool, though...
  7. I never even saw one....Heaviest fish I ever caught was an 85 pound halibut in Alaska.. We were fishing bottom in 3oo FOW and when we boated that fish, I sat down, opened a beer and hoped another one didn't bite for awhile... I hooked another one after that that I never saw, but was definitely bigger...Hooked it on a jig in 300FOW and fought it for a long time, getting it perhaps halfway to the surface..It damn near took the rod away from me a couple of times.... Finally just came unhooked, and I never saw it, but I know it was a LOT bigger than the 85 pounder that I landed..
  8. BTW...Nice that you are getting some FISH SLIME in that new boat....Hehehehe,,
  9. As cold as it has been, I'm surprised they are not still spawning... Keep after that gobbler, my good friend..If you can set up closer to where he coming into the field, that is a GOOD thing....
  10. What depth are you finding them at, Rob ??
  11. Me too....Seems to work just as well and one less thing to carry..
  12. Stripers are good fighters...Not GREAT fighters, like smallmouth bass or bluefish...Tied tail to tail, a 5 pound smallie or blue would drag 10 pound striper around backwards until its scales fell off....Still they are strong fighters and get really big, and a big one is a definite workout... As far as eating goes I would rate them very good....Not WONDERFUL, like bluegills or walleyes or black sea bass, but very good...As opposed to bluefish, which taste like shit unless quite small and iced immediately, in which case they are better than no fish at all, but still not that good..
  13. Kudos to jjb...Very generous....Good score for Moog...A set of high quality dies that may have never been used...
  14. That's only because I had a good guide/loader....<<GRIN>>….
  15. Hmmmmm...Looks familiar....
  16. The areas I hunt are mostly wooded and the birds tend to roost on timbered ridges away from the fields..They often fly down and work up to the fields, but it's a crap shoot figuring where they will enter the fields, and it's often an hour or two after flydown before they show up making calling and/or decoys essential unless you get REAL lucky....
  17. Cold, still mornings are often the best gobbling mornings....Wind is bad....
  18. What a day !! Holy Salmonoid, Batman, That water is piss flat !! Geeze..I just filled my second turkey tag......Dum de dum…..
  19. They certainly resemble oysters..Do they taste like chicken ?
  20. Cottontail wabbits… Who knows what killed 'em..Probably Mom got hit in the road or eaten by any numbers of predators ( everything LOVES them) and the babies starved to death...
  21. That's OK...Especially when I remember the seasons when I hunted my sawed off little ass off all season and got maybe one or maybe NONE...Hehehe.. Besides that, I also love to FISH and may is a great month for fishing..
  22. Tagged out this morning....The one bird I have heard every morning was gobbling good this morning...Finally about 7:00 AM I had him in the woods right behind my blind...He was within 40 yards but I couldn't see him in the woods and was waiting for him to walk into the field with my decoys... Then he just shut up...I waited a full half hour after I heard the last gobble and called...NOTHING..I have no idea what happened.. Meanwhile while I was waiting , I had heard two gobbles from the opposite direction...I did some calling and heard nothing, but about ten minutes later I saw a black blob appear down in the corner of the field, about 150 yards away...He stepped out of the woods and displayed for a minute or so, then folded up and walked DIRECTLY toward Esmerelda, my pretty Avian decoy... I had the gun on the sticks and watched him come through my scope all the way....It was almost too easy...I dropped him at 21 paces, about ten feet from the decoy...Nice bird...19.5 pounds, real heavy 8.5 inch beard and one inch spurs... He's the one I saw with the jake that ignored me yesterday.. Now I need Moog to get back down here and kill the other one ..I'm sure he's the BOSS... He's probably the MOOG of all gobblers...Hehehe....
  23. I LOVE it when you talk dirty !!!...Thanks, Greg..I learned something today..
