  1. A group of locals from down here in Dogpatch used to go up to a Grass Lake every Memorial Day weekend, rent a fleabag cottage and fish for spawning bluegills..They always caught buckets full of slab bluegills...I am wondering if it was the same lake...What's the nearest town ? A couple of the old farts are still alive and I may be able to get some info from them.. I never made the trip myself, but wish I had....
  2. Who's the slim, good looking young stud on the left ?

    Lomax

Lomax was the name of Kirk Douglas's character in the movie " The War Wagon".... Welcome aboard, KIRK...Sorry to hear of your recent passing...
  4. Nope...She told him to go **** himself....As I recall, she was pretty drunk, though, so she may have ended up in the parking lot before the night was over... As usual, I went home, kissed my Mom, said my prayers and went to bed.
  5. I'm 70 years old and have always eaten the things that I like....Plus DRANK a few things I like...And it hasn't killed me YET..Hehehe.. Probably my famous last words....
  6. Speaking of bullheads, please allow me to tell a story of my misspent youth...' I was in a bar known locally as " Petticoat Junction".... I was sitting next a girl who was frequent patron... Another guy came up to the girl and said ' Linda... I'm just HORNIER than a bucket full of bullheads.. Why don't you and I go out in the parking lot ? ".....True story....
  7. Hey..We all have our tastes and preferences......It's all good, My Friend....
  8. I come from a family of bullhead conneissuers...My mother BLESS HER SOUL would KILL for a mess of bullheads.. Bullheads, black, brown and yellow, are just smaller members of the catfish family.. In my experience, they are tastier than the larger members of the family, like channel cats, although the smaller catfish ( up to 3 lb. or so) are very good also... Once they get larger than that, they get stronger tasting, IMHO...
  9. You don't know what you're missing, Pilgrim.....
  10. Very similar to ham Moog..A little different texture.....
  11. I am very fond of fried spam....Just the other day I made myself a grilled spam and cheese sandwich.... Years ago, when I was doing some wilderness hunting trips, I was always in charge of the chow, and I would pack a few cans of spam, just in case we didn't kill meat in the first couple of days... You should have seen those boys gobble down that fried spam over a camp stove or a campfire after a long day on the tundra...
  12. So, can I take this as an invitation to come down FISHING with you ??…<<wink>>….
  13. Thanks, crappy...Aren't I a silver tongued DEVIL, tho ??
  14. I have been using a low power Leupold scope ( 1x4) for the last few years and have no complaints, but the newer red dots like the Fastfire interest me....The only red dot type sight I have used on a turkey gun was a Bushnell Holosight...I killed a few birds with it, but never really liked it...It was high and awkward and I hated the fact that it made my turkey gun look like something Buck Rogers might use to hunt lunar elk...About a month after the warranty ran out, the frame on the POS broke, irrepairably.. The newer sights are smaller and lighter than my Leupy scope...I might be tempted to try one.. TF and Treeguy, sweet talk me......Hehehe...
  15. It's great stuff....Fork tender right out of the jar and you have the GRAVY STOCK all made for you... I love canned venison, canned beef, canned pork, canned chicken....Back when I had chickens, the bantys would end up hiding a nest or two and come marching out with a bunch of fuzzballs in tow...When the population started to get out of hand, I'd lob off a dozen ( or two dozen) heads and can them up ( the MEAT, not the heads) in quart jars...great stuff... Wish I had a jar right now...
  16. Canned donkey meat ??…...Oh wait a minute....I thought you said HEE-haw…..<<blush>>…..
  17. So was your PRESENT wife aware of this ??
  18. Steve.....I have used a B-Square cantilever on my 11-87 for several years.. It attaches firmly and easily to your ventilated rib and is attached to the barrel, so if you remove the barrel it should retain its zero....I switch barrels often because I also use the gun for waterfowl hunting with a 28" bbl....It is always a good idea to check the zero after changing barrels, but mine usually does not move, since the scope mount is securely attached to the BBL..
  19. I'll be interested to see how your new beads shoot to point of aim....I see you have a rib on one of your guns....I have a couple of fiberoptic beads that attach to a rib...If they would fit your gun I would send you one to try..easy install... What is the width of your rib ??
  20. I can turn you on to a prime parcel down here near Dogpatch...….
  21. Actually, it looks kind of...…..Artistic.... That nasty gash right in the center kind of reminds me of Nancy Pelosi...….
  22. Nope...Chris just posts the little ones...
  23. You should have told me this before we kissed up on Sodus bay.... But it was such a LOVELY sunset....<<sigh>>...
