The vast majority of my drinking is from my own home. I have a wife and little one to take care of. No need going and getting a dui! Not to mention I could never live with myself if I got drunk and killed someone else.

Any of you drink the real beer...not that triple filtered water down swill they call a pilsner (coors, bud, PBR, etc) Im talking the real deal. Full body IPAs and saisons. You know the Dog Fishhead 60 and 120 min IPA's. Middle Age Brewery type of stuff. The real stuff that puts hair on your chest sitting between 6.5 and 9% alcohol by volume? I used to drink those other beer and then tried and IPA. Took me a bit to get used to much like scotch. Now I have trouble drinking those tripe filtered pilsners. Just taste like water to me and I think I get full before I get a buzz. Ive been ruined. I really wanted to get into making my own. Got everything but a really good 6g pot thats pretty much a requirement for whole grain brewing. I have pretty much everything else including books. Someday Ill have the free time to pursue all my passions. Whitetail hunting AND GOOD BEER! Sorry if Im rambling ive been into my stock of Dogfish head 120 min IPA.

I have no pics and cant even find the horns. Put it this way...thought it was a doe. Story. Well Ive been hunting this property since early bow. The last day of bow I see a monster cross the field but stayed out 100 yards from me. first week of rifle I see this smaller size deer slinking through the middle of the field. Head down. The rack blended in with the foliage. Pulled up my 308 and blam...the deer disappears out of site. Waited 20 mins and then I get down...cant pinpoint where i shot it and spend 25 mins stumbing around waist high dead grass. Finally I see it and as I walk up I swear!. young young 7 pointer. Im thinking offspring to the monster I saw. Couldnt have been much more than a 1.5yr old. Had I given it 2-3 more years P&Y or BC. I was elated at having my biggest buck and POed because had I saw the horns Id have let it walk.

i know out west it best to put in every year. I cant rememeber the state but they hold like 350 bucks for like 2 months. then they draw. if you dont get picked you get a preference point for like $7 if you draw..you lose that 350....I want to say its wyoming. I was gonna enter but i didnt have the 350 to tie up for 2 months. oh well.. maybe next year...heard it takes about 8 to 9 years to draw a good zone. my bucket list goes as follows. Moose, elk, B&C Whitetail, Water buffalo. All with bow ofcourse. I only bring my rifle out for 1 week a year and only because if I show up at camp with a bow I think ill be forced to sleep in the wood shed LOL.

Kleins. I know the arrow isnt overspined as Ive run in through the software and other spine charts. I have a 175grns up front on a .300 spine shooting an ibo 326 fps bow 72# with 30in draw. Im dead center on point. Im just going to do the work myself and learn. Im leaning to needing to shim my bow. I talked to the elite tech and he doesnt feel that on a brand new 2013 hunter I should need to shim. He advised move center shot back to factory and go from there. factory is between 7/8ths and 13/16s but he suggested 13/16. still getting a wicked tear. Got my shims already they overnighted them. Waiting on my press should be here by tuesday. If shimming doesnt work ill be taking it back.

im going covert from now on. Plan on replacing the 3 cams I have with black 60s for next season. I may run the other 3 cams in low traffic locations just because I already have money invested in them.

nice bucks for NY! -
And thats just august..ive had a string of bad luck going back several months.

Awesome. Good luck!

This weekend. I notice my trail cams would have 0 activity for the next 7 to 8 days after I checked them.

broadhead tuning will be next to impossible with the poor arrow flight. Ill give it a shot once I get my tl1 launcher.
-
it can be complicated if you are looking to fine tune the bow to get as much potential out of it as I can. For some of us archery and bow hunting is a passion. We shoot all year oong. We want the best shooting possible. Can I currently shoot 2-3 inch groups at 20 yards. Sure can. But I know im losing potential energy when my arrow leaves my string because its not shooting properly. Same idea as gear heads with their cars. Sure you can drive a car off the lot and get from point a to point b. Others want more out of their cars. Also I feel that shooting all the time gives me that extra edge. I owe it to tbe game im hunting to dispatch them as quickly and eth8cally as possible. Itz so easy to make a bad shot. Why would I want to up that potential with a bow thats not properly tuned.

He set it up. When he saw the tear in the paper he said oh your overspined. I didnt want to argue with him because he does have a ton more experience than I do but he was wrong. No real point in taking it back there because will just insist its the arrow.

Yeah I have been in contact with the author on another site. I really think I'm going to have to shim the cams
-
usually I do have it behind the trigger. Was focusing on my grip to make 100% sure I wasnt torquing the grip. Just trying to eliminate everything I can.

The archery gods are really trying to discourage me from hunting this year. Maybe im going to have some catastrophic stand/safety harness failure and they are trying to keep me out of the woods. Lets see. First I paper tuning my monster in the garage and smash the cam into the ceiling. No hopes of getting it fixed in time I purchase a 2013 Elite Hunter. Cant get it dialed in to save my life. Huge paper tear right that I cant get out. Bareshafts hitting 9 inches left of the fletched arrows at 20yrds at 10 yards they are entering the target at an angle. I have shims on the way along with a bow press. Today I decide to go back out and see if I cant fix my tuning issue while waiting on my press and shim kit. I use foot powder to test my FOBs for clearance with my QAD Ultra HDX rest. Verify no contact. Start working on bare shaft tuning and it happens. First time Ive ever done it. Accidental release of my arrow while drawing it back. Launcher stays up because I was only half way through my draw. FOB crashes into the launcher and then I hear the rush of leaves as my arrow enters the woods 30 yards behind my target. No hope of recovering that arrow (17 bucks down the drain). I go to knock another arrow. Im missing half of my TL1 Launcher. Gotta shoot an email to QAD to see if I can order another one. Ugh what next. Seriously. Im gonna end up having to say screw tuning my bow and just make sure my bhs hit what Im aiming for and call it a day at this point.

Face to Face Gun Sale Question
jesse.james replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
or you do it the old fashioned way and unless its a hand gun keep it off the books. Im not saying Id do this but why is everyone bending over backwards and paying outrageous fees. -
what the best bow pro shop in your county of NY
jesse.james replied to sweet old bill's topic in Bow Hunting
have you gone to other shops yet? Jeff had really been dropping the ball the last few years.kleins archery for me in dryden. Legends had no problem taking my $1400 but that's about it. Took my brighter there and they set his bow up won't and sent him away. Just ran into a guy at an archery range that took his 1300 and totally messed it up and he had to go to AJs to fix it. Seems like they are trying to push quantity over quality. -
I was a mathews guy until yesterday. Now im an elite guy cant wait to get out tomorrow AM and shoot!
-
normally yes I get paranoid but this land I leased is so dense this time of year and mosquitos so bad I know that no one in there right mind would walk around for fun..plus its private posted property (not that its a complete deterent but still)

Welcome home Geno!. Technically your Western NY but hey whos keeping track.

By the time the fob hits the side of the deer the head should have already punched through the other side of the deer. The FOB is not going to affect penetration. Those giant cut mechanicals everyone likes to fling around has much more affect on penetration.
