you don't replace them. As the arrow passes through the fob and the nock pop of marking the spot on the ground you hit the deer. You pop them back on voila. They also still fly great broken.

How I built my arrows
jesse.james replied to nybuckboy's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
A good program to use is On Target 2. Helps with this. There are also plenty of high foc production setups such as deep 6 or the victory vaps with 50 or 95grn tapered inserts. -
Speed difference is minor. Try an elite hunter or answer and thank me later. Would have taken #1 in the field and stream ranking had it not come in at the bottom in speed although 326 ibo is nothing to scoff about. pulling 72 on the elite felt like 55 or 60 on my mathews monster. Extremely solid back wall. And thing was whisper quiet on the shot.

Glad to hear you are ok. Get well soon. Thats some scary stuff. My buddy is bugging me to get a bike. I keep telling him no. I have a wife and young child. Getting in an accident and dieing would be horribly selfish of me.

2 week camera pull for new lease
jesse.james replied to jesse.james's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
The biggest buck was in video 2 in th3 background. -
Well here is a 2 week camera pull from the 80 acres we lease. Nothing overly impressive but activity non the less. Have some decent up and comers but not sure its really even possible to manage deer on 80 acres. the only nice thing is that there are two major highways that basically border our property so thats another large chunk of land not huntable. Then you get into more urban areas. Planning on taking a doe or two off the property but the only buck im gunning for is the one in the back on the second vid. cant get a solid pic of him because of obstruction and quality of the camera. Most of these pics were taken from a simmons 7mp camera...pretty low quality and I wont buy another. Im gonna bite the bullet and replace em all with convert black 60s i think.
-
yeah its nice the new ones actually go off of heat signatures not movement. I think next year im going to splurge and replace all mine with covert black 60s that way swaying grass and shadows dont trigger them.

Love my QAD ultra hdx. Drop away with full containment.
-
Trying them this year. Seemed to have tightened up my brothers groups. Not a gimmick. Easy to replace and there is no denying they fly better in heavy wind.

rages much like all mechanicals do not have the penetration potential of a fixed coc bh. Is been tested numerous times using numerous mediums. Its going to be hit or miss. I've had a buck I shot at 10 yards broad side. Shot was a little up and back head penerrated through but not a clean pass through. Then had a Doe at 8 yrds blew through her and went 30yrds down a hill.

Its gonna take getting used to. Not a bad thing.

72# on the elite. Pulls Like 55. Will probably jump up to 80 lbs limbs after the season.

Picking up the elite hunter on tuesday
-
So did a stupid thing. Was paper tuning in my garage. Low ceilings. On the fourth shot the cam hit the ceiling. Jacked it up pretty bad and derailed the yoke. No way id get it repaired in time. Shot on over to Kleins archery. Top notch shop And Joe is awesome. Tried an elite hunter, hoyt spider, and psa dna. All I gotta say is wow to the Hunter. Smooth as butter, solid back wall, quiet as all get out, and no vibration. Spyder came in second. Dna draw was pretty harsh and no valley. Pulling the elite at 72# felt like 55#s.

Used rage in the past. Good heads but I want better penetration on bone. I'm going with a single bevel 2 blade coc. Going with helix bhs. Also changed my whole arrow set up. Changed from victory vforce v1 with 100 grn heads to victory vap .300s v1s with 50 grn inserts and a 125 grn head. Moved my FOC from 8.75 to 16.9%

The product testing/ serious prep phase...
jesse.james replied to josephmrtn's topic in General Chit Chat
I just use para cord and a carabiner clip. Also don't clip to the cam. I loop my rope around the limb in the corner so that it sits between the limb and cam. I then clip the carabiner clip back to the rope. -
Today 8/12/2013 DMP's are available... Did you get your area?
jesse.james replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
sigh...still no doe permits allowed for 6N. When is the DEC going to get there heads out of their own rectums. All you see is Doe in 6N and yearling bucks...guess what the yearling bucks never make it because most people that hunt 6n are going to shoot anything legal to fill the freezer. Give us some does and maybe there will be a few buck in the woods to actually breed the doe. -
Ive been picked off in the past. Started using this sport wash and spray on any new camo I get and haven't been picked off since (well as long as I want moving or down wind) could just be dumb luck.

My mckenzie woodland buck is difficult. I have to put my knee against the insert and use both hands. You shooting a speed bow?

Nice. Need more hunting buddies? Lol

food plots/baiting
jesse.james replied to ADKHunter73's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
what are you twelve. Just be glad I'm not a mod you would be having a mini vacation from here. These are your opinions. When you call names and throw tantrums you look like the idiot. Grow up and realize that is your opinion on hunting. I don't hunt food plots because I don't have any but I'm successful. If I had the ability I would. Doesn't make me any less of a hunter. I'd match my skill vs yours any day. Stating your opinion is fine but we would take you more seriously if you did it with more maturity. -
Yeah not much to it. I picked up a Weston 8000rpm for about 100 bucks. Then picked up a g5 arrow squaring device. Them picked up an Arizona ez Fletcher mini. All told you can be making and fletching arrows for 160ish bucks. Just a tip. Use arrow wraps. Makes removing fletchings a breeze. No need to worry about stripping glue.

I'm going with a single bezel bh with a tanto tip. Thinking the helix. Also increasing weight and going with an SD arrow. Should move my FOC from 9% to 16%. My set up well be the victory vap v1s .300 spine. 50g ss penetrator insert. Arrow cut to 28in. The Helix bh in a 125 grain. Nockturnal on the back. 465grn arrow fire at 285fps. Should blew through bone or no bone. also GL with Legends of the Fall. When I was buying a complete set up they were more than helpful. After the purchase is a different story. They really dont seem to enthusiastic. Did the same thing to my brother. My brother now drives 2hrs to kline archery. Unfortunately they dont work on mathews so I do everything myself.
