  1. A new to me Sako 75 Synthetic Stainless in 30 - 06 , with federal Premium Vital Shock 165 grain . Bought it at a very good price and condition from an avid hunter that has taken deer and bear with it , And that is what I have many pictures of roaming around my property. Also if the Yote. is trailing any of them.
  2. Grow, simple answer to the above I do not shoot any deer unless the temp. is below 40 degrees at night, No freezer to cut it up and put it into,And no local place with a walk in frig. to hang them in out of the heat.
  3. I would just back off and forget about what he said he did or wants to do. Just remember you might have to live next to this person the rest of your life and some day you or a member of your household might need help from him. Don't you people think that this type of post are not read by the ECON or DEC personal before and during hunting season , There are quite a few of them that are hunters also.
  4. I downloaded it and went back to 7. It looks as if 10 is set up for facebook, twitter Ect. which I do not use. And it does not have some of the features that 7 has that I use.. Be prepared it takes quite some time to download.
  5. Just picked one at Dick's they were on sale , it is Ok , the only thing I do not like it does not have holes to put a cable threw as most other brands do.You have to buy some other accessory if you want to lock it to a tree.
  6. Has anyone ever shot a lever action 45 - 70 , just wondering how they kick. I had at one time a Ruger #1 in 45 - 70 but it as not as light as a lever action rifle.
  7. Have a upcoming early rifle season , i might just jump the gun and by a new one, thinking of a 45 - 70 Henry. http://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/NYSDEC/bulletins/b99351
  8. Just do what fasteddie said on the first page.
  9. It was in the paper here it is ,http://www.thedailystar.com/news/local_news/dec-severe-winter-will-mean-lower-deer-take/article_3c96eb42-a009-5346-9514-693fcf9cbd18.html
  10. From the DEC website .
  11. Got them all , Archery/ MZ loader and a week later Everything else.
  12. There still hang out in there new blind , just had a 1+ year old 3 pointer walk out of it and he is 20 feet out side the window grazing , his mom, sister and a fawn just came by also. His brother or cousin a young fork horn has been coming around the apple tree on the side of the house a lot also. Lots of deer movement around the house every morning and evening the couple of days. Looks like there grouping up.
  13. Here We Go Again.? Any bets on how many pages.
  14. What ever truck you deside on getting Do Not skimp out ,Get the Trailer Towing Package . You get things that will cost a lot more latter on down the road. At one time I had a Dodge Dekota with the 318 , auto trans. and tow package and we towed my sons 67 GTO 3000+ car on an open trailer , with a bed full of tools ,jacks and fuel..To the drag strips all over NY, NJ and PA. With out any problems.
  15. I have a bushnell banner 3-9 on mine for years .
  16. Not worth the effort for me either , When we were Young and Strong , my neighbor shot one around 350 pounds down in a shale quarry about 50 ft. lower then the area around it , we just tied the legs up and had a heck of a time getting that stinky bundle of jelly out of there. It made a nice rug with the head mounted on it. I never had any of the meat either.
  17. Received the rest of the batch yesterday in the mail , have them all now.
  18. A few weeks ago I downed some small around 4" dia. trees for firewood and opening up the area, I cut some up but left a few pushed together with the tractor into a L shaped pile just happen to go past every other day, the first few days the deer were eating the buds or leaves, then at least 2 started using it for a bedding area, as I would go by there would be a doe and a fawn inside and most of the time just the fawn, it is on the edge of an open area and has a down slope on one side , which gives them a good view of anything in the area. Just goes to show you the are not that dumb.
  19. True story about a friend years ago , he was up in a tree stand and had to go real bad was not going to drop a load in his pants., started getting down and a pack of wild dogs ,like 7 of them came to the base of the tree and were jumping and growling at him., So he took out his 22 which held 9 rounds and finished them off, even shooting at them they stayed where the were. They must have been real hungry. He got down did his duty and went back up and got a 6 pointer later in the day.
  20. X2 , They should do it in the cooler part of the season, early archery season is too warm by me , unless you cut the deer up within a few hours or take it to be cut up and hope they cut it up soon. Plus there are many of us that do not have a chest freezer and do not intend on buying one just to put a cut up deer in. Maby they just want you too kill them and take them to the local dump as they do in many townships on L.I. Also during the beginning of gun season there are more hunters out in the woods then in archery season in the Catskills,Western and Northern parts of the state.
  21. Never heard of a law that you could not. I only hunt my property and I carry a 22 side arm or my .357 side arm which are loaded, unloaded in cases on my ATV, a .22 rifle , a .243 rifle , a .30-06 rifle and a 12 ga. pump shot gun. And at times my MZ loader all set for a certine distance. I built racks for the front and back to carry them all. This way I can stay out all day with out having to go back to get something different. Yea it some sight to see.
  22. Can't say if it rained at all by me , i was out of town. But I have not found 1 weather reporting website that gives an accurate weather report for my part of the town. Our town is on a flat area , we are in a valley or bowl that has a 800 ft. difference in height. And the weather conditions do change from area to area and the time of day. 76 degrees and bright sun now.
  23. Yes they work , slower then pulling with the normal method , Mine is another pc. of gear to carry.
