  1. Many leaves here, few caterpillars compared to the last couple of years, once in a while you see a leave fall but not pieces almost a whole leave. Apple trees are shedding small apples like crazy ,they are realy loaded this year as are the wild cherry trees. Animals will have plenty to eat this year.
  2. Had my last one 30+ years ago, never picked up one again. Congrats.and stay away from all of them.
  3. X2 most of your round nose bullets and some with a small flat are still your best knock down bullets. You want a bullet that expands the most in a deer to knock them down. Some of your plastic pointed and bonded bullets will go threw easier and do less damage, they might leave a better blood trail but won't knock them down as fast.
  4. 2nd. Question , cannot answer have no way to watch that. 1st. question.,For Hard Boiled Eggs, Start with Cold water cover a single layer of eggs with 1"- 2" of water , bring to a boil and then turn off the burner, let sit in pot for 10 - 12 min. then empty the water from the pot and run in cold water till they feel cold. Then peel. Any thing more then 12 min. is just over cooking them
  5. You have to be pretty darn good to tell the age of a deer as 1-1/2 years old, you cannot tell by the amount of points on it's antlers or it's size the best way I can see is by the shape of it's body.Example right now I have 2 bucks both born a little over a year ago on my property, still in velvet. One is a spike and the other one looks like it will be at least a 4 pointer and both have the same size bodies.Others on this site have said they have 4 pointers that are 1 year old on there property. .Any thing less then a 6 pointer let it walk. If you are a meat hunter shoot more does, that is what the DEC wants anyway.
  6. Can't be too many with that bird in the 4th. and 5th. picture.
  7. It's here early this year, usually here when the blackberries are ripe but there still green, Hmm should I get my .358 Win. out .
  8. As for the little furry things , just soot them and leave them out in the field , nature will take its course .
  9. Saw enough turkeys on my property this year,Had a nice Tom , strutting and doing his thing all hunting season long,I hope he found a mate,Females would be walking around about a 1/2 hour before he would show up.Still have them walking all around the place every day. Had no desire to shoot any this year.I have enough feathers for fletching and tying flies .
  10. I watched a deer (big doe ) that was shot in the neck with a 180 Gr. 30-06 soft point , it ran and then walked another mile then was dropped by someone else with a 30-30 in the heart. The fellow that dropped it never new it was shot in the neck beforehand .
  11. Quite a few people are getting good results using the RL powder in the .280 round. While you have the cleaning rod in the bbl. check the twist rate and see if it will like the 162 Gr. bullet.
  12. Scope mounts are off.Hope you did not go Too Far with the adjustments on the scope. Very gently adjust scope one way till it stops Up till it stops and then Down till it stops ( count the Clicks) set it in the center as 20 clicks total move it 10 clicks back. Do the same for side to side. Mount it back in the rings . Get it bore sighted ,that will tell what is off. Or shoot it .If you have to go near the end of the adjustments the mounts are off or not mounted correct.
  13. A few here , have not seen twins yet only singles here.
  14. X2 , supprised they did not apply for them already.IT's .358 win. or 300 win.mag time.
  15. Ok back to Doc.s question , I also have a steep old logging trail I use to get to the top of the property , steep enough where I have to lean forward on my ATV to make it up the hill to the top. Not a power. issue , a matter of flipping over backwards.and that is in Low gear.I am guessing that the UTV's have a slightly longer wheelbase ?. If so would that help on the steep hills ?.
  16. Just what we need, More business for the stores , Doctors and Hospitles.and there goes the Ins. rates..
  17. Check out Climbing Sticks, you can get them 20' and they strap on to the tree. , a little harder to carry but set up a lot faster.

    hhmmmm....

For some reason the picture makes the deer look Bigger then it actually is.You would have to see it in person.

Here is one , it looks too small to be born a year ago.
  20. Looks as if this is a single fawn above, there were a number of other pictures before and after this one.
