  1. Doc it's a shame we are not 30 years younger, a weed wacker would knock it all down,I have been doing it between rain drops, tire tracks everywhere.
  2. By me there is more of a problem with Fox then Yotes. The only time I have seen them is during deer hunting season after some shots have been fired, I guess looking for scraps. The fox are just out and out killers after there young are born, most of my neighbors have or had chickens or that size live stock. Most like to let them free range on there property one neighbor that had a large fenced in area lost 15 chickens in a season to the fox.
  3. If Long Island got as much parts of upstate,it would be part of the Long Island Sound and Atlantic ocean.Remember the highest point is only 200 feet high.
  4. My frost seeding red clover did Not work, put it down in 5 different spots same seed,10 pounds, not cheap,Just before the last snow we had this year.

    Dogs

Buddy surprised us today. Long Story, He is my male part lab (mothers side ) part mountain cur ( fathers side ) around 110 pounds and built like Clark Kent , if you are old enough to know who he was.Hung and endowed well. ( did not get him fixed because my male begal who was is one crabby pain in the but dog) Buddy is the most friendly dog I ever had.Well today a repair person from the phone company comes over to correct a problem with my phone and high speed internet which died,He is sitting at the computer and on the phone with the provider, Buddy walks over sits down in front of him and puts his left paw up the fellow looks at him, then Buddy puts both front paws up, the fellow asked the person on the line to hold on ,look at me puzzled and I said he wants you to shake his paw. Which he did and said well this is a First time this ever happened. That is some thing I have to do every morning with him as I am putting my sox on in the morning,But never taught him to do it with any body else.
  6. Lots of luck on the trip Enjoy. Not to change the subject but , greaybeard have you ever fished off of or around Block Island, I heard there are some monster size stripers there.
  7. I have had a custom built trail camera, which had a sony camera in a very weather tight case.Made from parts from one of the home brew websites. It took halfway decent pictures,I would not buy another one because you could buy 3 or more Trophy Cams for what that camera cost.
  8. Cut mine yesterday, even did some cutting in and around one of the plots. My food garden seeds just rotted from last months steady rain, apple trees looking good, they must like the water. As long as it rains at night as it has been the last 3 nights ,that's fine with me. One advantage of living on the side of a mountain, the water gust runs down and away. 82 and sunny right now ,that will dry it out some.
  9. Any luck using clams, squid or worms.
  10. What ever you get Make Sure You Get And Use A Life Vest or other Flotation device. We just lost a 21 year old last week near here, did not have any. And quite a few years ago lost a good hunting, camping and fishing friend and his friend for the same reason, sad they lift behind wives and very young children.
  11. You are right, most of the time the clicking sound is from a weak battery,7 years old, they should have done a load test on it.,landtracdeerhunter is also right. There is a salvage yard near one of the larger cities that will replace the parts they sell for a period of time depending on the part.and are a lot cheaper then new parts.
  12. After having the trail camera in one spot for over a week I decided it was a good day to go and change cards. After taking the camera off of the tree and putting a fresh card in it, there walking which would be the back of the camera was Mom, her 2 young ones and her brother ? in velvet a 4 pointer. So I took the camera up higher and put it on a well used trail. On the way back was Woody the wood chuck with here 2 young ones also.Rode around the property which I haven't done for over a month,Looks like it is going to be a good year for Black Berries, the birds, deer and bear will like that.
  13. Grow, They were right about what they said about land owners,Sh*** happens, been cutting wood for over 50 years,2 years ago on wet ground, knee high log right foot slipped and got the top of my left leg,Thoes blastic leggins work only had 10 stiches. A good example of what was left behind, one tree top on the side of the hill, had to make a trail to get to it, too steep, but that ting was an eye sore in the wrong place, three day and I had a trail to it so I could get the wood out,At the base where it was cut off of the trunk ( and no BS ) my Magnum with a 25" bar would not cut threw it in one swipe ,I had to cut 2 times in a 8 foot length to get to the fork. A week later I got all of that tree top cut up and piled by the splitter.
  14. Yep, what Doc said happened to me also,The firewood crew never showed up and I am still cutting tree tops that are bigger then the trees being pulled in the picture scattered all over the property seven years later. The deer do eat the leaves and buds for a while then the wood just lays there to rot.We have hunted a lot of county and co op land that had crews come in and do clear cutting, the deer were there right after the trees were downed and not touched a week later, they would have crews come in and clean up all of the downed wood, after that it was some of the best hunting areas with the young trees coming up.We have gotten many nice bucks and does from them areas.I have been doing some clearing for the last 2 weeks and at times the deer were there right after I downed the trees.
  15. Looks like fire wood not lumber,Make sure the get rid of the tree tops also.
  16. Do what the doctor tells you to do and not to do also go to therphy and do not miss any sessions.,I had a friend that did not listen and was in pain for a year.
  17. I am going to repeat what I said in the past and others have said.Use 10 or 12 of the same exact arrows, brand, length, model number ,spline. If you are trying to set up for hunting.Throw away the field points,Use the same brand, model and weight Broadheads on each arrow. Do Not Shoot Groups on the same spot of the target.(* I see you made a new target ) draw 5 or more circles on it with a big dot in the center of each circle,Now shoot 1 arrow at each circle. No ruined arrows or broadheads.Going to a pro shop with every thing you are going to use is not a bad idea.
  18. Ha Ha Doc your not alone,I turned my garden over 3 times before planting the seeds as said before that I think rotted, but the other leafy plants I planted last year just to fill in so weeds would not grow are popping out nice and green.By the way the Skies just opened up Again.Coming straight down and heavy.Who ever is doing it Stop doing the Rain Dance.
  19. I don't want to say it but I told you so on the post that you were so happy about seeing the sun, that we were going to get rain for the next 3 days..As I said before I planted my big food garden over 2 weeks ago and not a thing came up I think all the seeds rotted. My little food garden that I planted store bought plants in is doing great,Onions are up about a foot, brockley have heads, tommato have flowers, kale is about a foot high and peppers have flowers on them..
  20. How the young ( only a couple of days old ) fawns can jump and move around the way they do. I just had mom and 2 of her young ones not more the 50 feet outside the window eating on the side of a hill, the little ones were jumping around from spot to spot grazing.
  21. Did you try adjusting the cables on each side ?.
