  1. Just checked no video on there site, but this is from there FAQ list.
  2. As with any other bow I would suggest going to a pro shop that has a good selection of recurve and long bows.Long bows are a little more forgiving then recurves, both not like a compound, the further you draw it back the more you have to hold.Figure the longest you have held your compound back trying to get aimed at that sweet spot on a deer.Try different weight bows and try to get one that you can hold at full draw for that amount of time. As if you shoot a 60 -70 pound compound a 55 pound recurve might be for you.You will enjoy shooting more that way. I started out at 11 years old with a fiberglass bow and arrows and worked my way up to this buying and selling threw the years. I belive the have a how to video on the Black Widow website also. M30.
  3. Cutting firewood for winter, watch the deer go to there bedding spots in the morning and come down and hit the food plots in the afternoon,if I am still cutting they will look up at me a few times and go back to eating and I do have my bow with me also.
  4. The deer that was taken in NY. and confinscated by the DEC was weighed by them, the second one in the Westhampton area of L.I., Ny. was seen for 2 hunting seasons by fellows that have hunted all over the world, pretty sure the would not BS about it. It's tracks in the ground were 6"" long.It is thought that a poucher got it and sold the head, very common L.I., The 3 rd. 280 pound deer was weighed at a shop that did the mount, it also had big feet.
  5. You are right and at the same time wrong.I have seen young fellows go with there older relitaves and walk 20 yards and shoot a 10 pointer ( but not every year) I have seen land owners that take on people who want to hunt and pay Get an 8 pointer or better every year and the people paying not get anything. I know someone that has gotten a buck almost every year ( we have deer hunted almost all of our lives ) He is just a buck magnet ( lucky ) to be in the right spot at the right time. Now for the Experience, Do you think that J dog ( excuse me if I have the name wrong ) Has found as many deer Sheds buy just plain luck, He has been at it a long time ( could be ) longer the You are old. That is Experience in my book. Now here is another one while I am at it. I regards to Gro's post about he weather. The fellow that said that deer have to get up every 4 hours and eat, I say B.S. I have sat in one spot( for 10 hours at a time) a number of times an a number of years, And watched 5 or more deer walk up 50 yards from me bed down in weather that we had today and in that amount of time get up once or twice walk 10 feet brose and go back to the same spot for hours. And a few times that includes mature bucks. They did not leave until around 4.00 PM. Now this is on my property what goes on by you, Who knows . I am out there every day weather permitting all year long,That is Expoerience of what is going on my proberty, Not some TV show or video. And yes I do have trail camers out to see what is where and when, Even thou I am just an Old dude that loves to be outdoors and hunt when I can.
  6. X2 , binn using one ever since the came out, Up a tree and on the ground.
  7. The problem (maby not ) by me there are so many ( wild ) apple trees spread out over every piece of property, that the ground is covered with them around each tree.More then they can eat.On my property I have been picking them up every day making juice and sauce and still a bunch rotting. I also have many small food plots so they do not have to travel far to hit them. In fact for the last 4 days the young ( born this year ) have been bedding in or around them.
  8. 60's during the day 40's at night here, 100% of rain today and very windy ( deer won't be moving today) even though we are on the good side of the moon.Been out in the woods every day cutting firewood, the deer were moving early in the morning and bedded down most of the day untill evening.Bucks are scraping, does chaseing new born to seperate bedding areas. My observation for the past week.
  9. Geno, the 300 pound 10 pointer we saw was in the Westhampton area, No need to go out there. Unless you have a personal friend with property out there,I heard they do not welcome outsiders.
  10. How about the people that put out corn all year long too feed the deer and turkeys just so they can se them from there windows in there house,They have been told it has no nutritional value to the deer but it is cheap and they still do it.I wonder how many of them are putting it out in the woods during hunting season.
  11. I have no more room on the right side of the plate for next 2015 sticker Have it registerd since I bought it. We have people young and old and some carring children sitting in front of them rideing up and down the road all year long some time as many as 8 at a time. I wonder how many are insured.
  12. This is a true story and I was there when it happened. A friend was up a tree in his climer, he tried to come down to the ground when 9 wild Dogs were at the base of the tree looking up at him and growling. He threw everything he had at them and they would not move.He fired the only 3 arrows he had and hit three of them.As a last resort he pulled out his 22 cal. pistol and killed the remaning dogs, which would not leave.
  13. If you are worried about recoill, First look at the different models in the caliber you plan on buying. The heavyer the rifle the less the recoill will be, that is with factory loads not hand loads. The higher end rifles are usualy put together with a little more care with bedded actions and barrels or floating barrels as with there laminated wooden stocks.I prefere wooden stocks they are not noisey like the plastic ones.
  14. Tax map is the most accurate, Most areial photos are a few years old.
  15. I guess these drug addicks do not know it is a $1000.00 for each tree they cut down + the value of the camera and locking device if they get caught. It's a shame Snares and bear traps are illegal to use in N.Y.
  16. I did my Whole 870 ,scope, mounts , bbl, action and stock.5 years ago with Krylon camo paint ( spray can ) 5 different colors, I used leaves and twigs and sprayed over them,Sprayed a flat cleat over it .Holding up better then I thought.Cleaned everything with acetone first.
  17. This is the third NY buck 300 pounds or more I have seen pictures of. the first was years ago some idiot shoots the day before gun season Up around Fulton , NY. (lost his licence ,they took the deer) not too smart for bragging rights. The second was a potato and pumpkin raised L.I. deer seen trail camera pictures and a video of it ( it magicaly dissappered ) another was a 280 pound L.I. deer. Both L.I. deer had massive racks not the thin type antlers.
  18. A neighbor of mine a farmer always packs a pistol when letting the ilvestock out in the morning and putting them away at night. Both her and her husband have hade coyotes following them.
  19. Using the same bow hitting the deer in the same place a 2" broadhead has more surface area and will hit more things as bone compared to a 1" broadhead which will go deeper or threw and cause more bleeding. What ever you use just keep it razor sharp and good shot placement.
  20. I have had many rifles in many different calibers threw the years, factory stock, custom bench rest , custom hunting + every top brand scope out there,The ones that were the most accurate factory rifles were the ones made by Sturm Ruger, there bolt action.Had them in 22,22 mag.,243,and .308 every one placed shots inside of a Quater at 100 yards.Just a good cleaning before and after using and wiped down with.Hoppies gun oil inside and out.
  21. Cut it down,if there has been any loging going on near by it won't bother them, might bring them in, I have had them come and start munching on them right after I drooped a tree.
  22. HaHa, As a former member I can tell you that They can be very busy now that the whole state is open for hunting. And don't forget quite a few of them are hunters also.If you think the deer is on somebody elses property, You have to get written permision from them that states that you and Deer Search can go on there property. It is prefersd that you do not bring any shooting implements with You.Deer Search personell are permited,if the deer has to be dispached. They are using there own trained blood tracking dogs and there time, so either way if they find it or not give them a tip tahat you can afford.
  23. Here is one for you young fellow. Don't bother with a bottle , stopped doing that 40 years ago.Had to go real bad ( on the ground ) peed on a tree stump, posted 20 yards fom the tree ,had 5 does and a spike walk up to the stump and smell it and walk slowly away.Another , last week cutting fire wood and clearing brush with my tractor bucket, pleanty of bare spots, had to go did it in a opening on fresh ground, Set up a trail camera afterwoods, that night a doe went to the spot and peed in it,the next morning a definate shooter buck came to the same spot and made a scrape. And that's the truth.
  24. Myself and some others have found that under armoe ( littlery ) stinks from sweating after any amount of walking ect mostly in bow season. You realy want 2 layers, the first an open weave or mesh to let the bodt heat escape then a second layerof a wool blend material. Also polypropelyne Not poyeyester which most are made of. Cabalas wool blend, Helley Hansen ( a long time fisherman clothing supplier) and the ones Ladwaz mentioned I have found to work.
