Im in 3S nestled in some billy goat terrain trying to avoid the 15-20 mph gusts at 60 degrees....cluster climbing this tree today- poorly misjudged the trees thickness and actually had to reclimb to rectify the error of my rushing. “If you don’t have time to do it right you better have time to do it again,” my father’s voice echoed in my head! Just be a little cognizant other the other public using the park(dog walkers, families with kids, etc). Dont leave guts on trails or paths - may have a rule about water sources as well. Set up took too long (without having some of the serious modifications that some above have-jealous!). Not doing it again. I too like to skin immediately to speed the process and remove the ticks (Columbia county and Westchester are nasty with them). I have an old fridge left unplugged all year until deer start dropping- then quarters get hung for a few days(3-6 depending on my butchering time). I have never “aged” meat in smaller portions like it sounds like you are trying...seems like it would be a lot of double trimming-once when butchering and once before packing. Do you know of any pick your own places or tree farms or other private lands that are used to having people visit/park on their property? Those properties also tend to have more people around to talk with. Start by being a consumer with your family and while there talk to any and all staff about deer sightings and deer destruction. The young kids working there are a great place for intel. Eventually ask for an owner or a number. PATRONIZE their business regardless of their answer and continue to patronize even after a no-remind them you spoke last year about possibly hunting to help prevent deer from damaging crops. There have been many years where my family picked a bag at three or four different orchards in one day. One year we came home with well over $150 worth of pumpkins since I was off scouting land around the pumpkin patch with the farmer-kids went nuts and wife was tired of waiting so they re-picked!!!
