I'm hopin fo the sad results sat!

Makes it look real easy.

Real excited about having a nice white background and bare trees. Until Sandy blew through many of my areas were still choked with leaves on trees. Looking forward to improved visibility to hopefully change my action or lack thereof

I hear ya...been on 15 sits both public and private land...seen three doe, all when I was either walking in or out. ZERO deer when on stand. I just hold to to the fact that is HAS TO happen soon. My biggest problem is that I have started to doubt all my previous scouting so I have started to jump around as opposed to sticking to my plan. Getting back to the basics this weekend to put some meat on ice!

Treestand placement etiquette on PRIVATE LAND???
crappyice replied to regulat0r's topic in Deer Hunting
I know this is not the point but on 42 acres there must be other funnels, edges, beds, etc. for my sanity, I would be looking to avoid those stands since the landowner does not seem to care. I agree big time with the blaze piece. If these guys have been using this land as their own, feeling they are alone, they will not be expecting anything else walking in the woods except game. My guess is if they are willing to hunt property they don't have access to, they are not going to be overly concerned or conscientious about ethics and safety. I know that's a broad stereotype, but stereotypes happen for a reason..they are usually true -
I suggest hitting antique shops. Like any carefree young a$$, I lost the screw in topper of my fathers Stanley. No big deal, I'll just buy a new one... Bought a new one that never held heat. I hit antique shops until I found an old Stanley thermos. Happy ever since. They just don't make stuff the way the used to.

Fourseason.....Huh?

Time to hang a trail cam arrownovker to photo the scum...post those pics all throughout town and on any hunting sites you can.

I used to snag bunker to use for blues and strippers and have a bunch if weighted treble hooks that I no longer use. Since it dropped so many things from my stand I decided to clip the points off the hooks and tie it to a long para cord which grabs everything...saved lots of trips up and down.

What's the likelihood of it surviving even with the mother if it is that small at this point and weather changing? I'd take the shot. Mama is about to hook up with some horny buck and leave little one alone anyway...a couple of Yotes ae lining up at the buffet table already.

My friend killed two doe this season with 100 grain montecs. Both deer died within 100 yards and the shots were pass-throughs clipping the heart on both shots and exiting a bit low due to the steep angle of the shots. While both deer were recovered, the blood trail was extremely little with blood just pooling in the cavity for both deer. Do other montecs users experience the same results?

Who else is glad they didnt take anything last weekend?

One arrest in Staten Island when someone pulled a pistol to cut the gas line...don't worry at least the marathon will happen! Huge generators down in Central Park to heat the spectator seating..people getting kicked out of manhattan hotels back to their wrecked homes so runners can have their hotel rooms...yikes. -

Generators are NOT the norm ..in westchester county(50% still wthout power)most people do not have them including me. I relied on my neighbor who let me keep the fridg plugged in fo a bit. He and one other guy had power on my blocked of 30 houses. However we re nowhere near as bad as may many others. Mother Nature can be a real bl+Ch at times -
3 primed spitfires and one old spitfire for coyote and turkey

Funny because book was written in 1969 and it referred to this method as being new, speaking of the let it lie theory as the old-timers way.

Just was reading an old book on deer hunting and read a section about tracking deer. It said to track the deer immediately to NOT allow the deer to bed down which wold allow it to rest, potentially have the wound clot, etc. if the deer remains on its feet, fleeing the apparent danger, its heart will beat at a more rapid rate, pumping blood at a faster rate, creating a better blood trail and making an easier find. I don't THINK I agree but found it interesting how different that philosophy is from what I read now about giving game a bunch of time.

Unfortunately Doc, stores could care less of intent as you know. Does intent impact their bottom line?

Should be a bunch of new blow downs for deer to graze on and hide in after the storm come through if it is all the say it will be
-
Good looking pup down!

So how does hurricane-type weather impact deer and more importantly my hunting? Seems like she will be in my area (westchester county) by Sunday. Obviously I will not be hunting the 20+ mph winds, but will it impact deer movement positively or negatively on Saturday?

My buddy has a nice 8 pointer running around his backyard in Harrison...how to insure a paralyzingly shot to avoid it dying on the libs lawn next door....lol...big problem with no solution except to enjoy the view and drive 2 hours to hunting land we access and leave th big boy a home!..sux -
Mmkay...I am in that program for the first time this year. It's pretty cool in terms of connecting with other hunters who actually shae info about where deer are and what they are feeding on. The purpose is to thin the herd so info is always flowing between hunters via mandatory logs and check ins. Haven't harvested a dee yet but have seen enough to keep me hopeful. Even with this program, I am always looking for someplace else..grass is always greener!

Finally get to head out today after being in "jail" for the last two weeks. Internet says, Weather looks great, wind seems fine....bring e'm on! Good luck everyone today!

Careful arrow nocker....you don't know what anyone else does after the kill either! There's no need for fellow hunters to paint hunters with broad stroked stereotypes.
