  1. Nice..pretty rare to hear good customer service these days
  2. Watched 8 squirrels dance around me all day...only problem was I was seeing them from my classroom where I teach! Perfect angle for a 20 yard shot though just don't know how the kids or administrators would react! Damn I miss the woods
  3. I've never had any luck with any scents but I also do not know if I used them properly..not enough, wrong time, etc.
  4. Early season high winds are tough since I can't rely on hearing them AND most of the leave have not fallen..can't see them either. Also not a big fan of the feeling of tree surfing when the wind is howling.
  5. This is one of those things that I just never considered. While fly fishing one spring I came upon a dead buck and helped myself to the rack. Never thought much about it being illegal and it seems like depending on the officer I could be in trouble or not...strange how seeking satisfaction often leads to more confusion.
  6. Look forward to trying that recipe once the back strap shows up!!! Crew was pretty good.. I had a duck breast with cherry glaze. Bunch of good beers offered as well
  7. How often do you practice your shooting during the bow season? For me, I shot a bunch pre-season to dial in. As the season became closer, I would shoot only one or two arrows, one or two times times a day(figure the first shot is the one that counts in season). Since October 1st I probably only shot a handful of times just to make sure I didn't bang my sight walking in the woods.
  8. Hey chef..I think you should lead a recipe thread. I tried to take my wife to eat at the CIA this weekend for her bday. All booked so we ended up at Crew, run by a CIA grad.
  9. Took th mrs out for her birthday on Saturday. Saw 6 does walking along a sandy beach along th Hudson River in Coton and then 1 beautiful red fox...7 hunts from my stand = ZERO DEER SEEN! Go figure!
  10. I guess if you are looking a full 12-24 hours later the deer is definitely dead so no need to carry a weapon to dispatch if still wounded game. I would expect that deer search dogs would be called in sooner than later and may still find a deer that needs to be finished off and you would want a weapon with you to do th job which would throw a monkey wrench in the "just walkin my dog" strategy.
  11. Has the two extra weeks affected small game season? Yup..but by my choice. Since I started to b ow hunting, it has taken over my desire to small game hunt much to the displeasure of my Brittany. I'm gonna get out there but with the early opener, I small game hunt less. How does anyone feel THEY own the right of lands exclusively(regardless of the season lengths), unless of course they own it themselves?
  12. Thanks for sharing Doc...whose brave enough to follow that lineage?
  13. Very sad and my prayers go out to his family as well. It does seve as a good reminder to all of us to not skimp on our safety. I know there are times when I cut corners, especially as the season winds on. There certainly seems to be something missing in this story. If it was being used properly, how did it wrap on his chest?
  14. She's swimming...in tomato sauce!
  15. I am under the impression that its illegal to us ANY DOG to recover wounded game because the dogs could then be used to Hunt the game. I always thought deer search dogs were "licensed" in some way???
  16. Sat or two hours this afternoon. Wind was perfect. Squirrels and birds were active. Deer were absent! Makes no sense.
  17. I will call dec....somewhat optimistic that I may have a shot a this. Initially. Just thought I didn't stand a chance. Clearly I have been breaking laws about relocating already...what's one more broken law under my belt..jk...I'll call before I take any action and pos their reply
  18. As a teacher, primarily my colleagues fall close to the PETA, hippy-loving, liberal democratic world. I don't hide that I hunt. I don't boast about it either but I will share my weekends experiences like everyone else shares their weekends. More and more, the opposition to my hunting stories has decreased while some have even begun to ask about the butchering process, taste of the meat and the hunting process in general. Will they be out there with us one day...NEVER! Do they now tolerate it more and understand what it actually is...yup.
  19. You did all you can do. Don't mak this the end of your season. Coyotes gotta eat too. Nothing is ever wasted in th woods. Sorry
  20. Gotta call the dogs...for your sake(get you back in the saddle) and the trophys sake(allow him to be enjoyed by yo and us through pics after he is found). Good luck
  21. It's a scary thought but oh so tasty! Still not worth the damage the would cause.
