I do know that. He was producer, director and star. He wouldn't have it any other way.

How Many Funny Comments Can We Post For This Pic
steve863 replied to VT Outfitter's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
" Oh come on Bubba, did you have to rip one again?? I had the crosshairs right on that first doe!!" -
Not like I ever had a friend of the opposite sex in a hunting blind with me to know for sure what happens, but I do have some ideas of what I HOPE might happen.

I think Larry's wife needs to be alerted. Things with this therapist seem to be moving along a little too nicely. Don't forget her hands are all over him while he is telling her all this. Next thing you know she will be inside a blind with him, and God knows what might happen after that. LOL

An Evening with Charles Alsheimer
steve863 replied to TrapperJohn's topic in NY Hunting Calendar / Events
Trapper, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here. Your advertisement definitely states that he will also talk about his personal faith story, so people were forewarned. If he somehow advertised a seminar about deer only, and started talking about his faith, then I'd have a problem with it. Just because a non-religous event or talk is being held on church grounds shouldn't mean that one is now subject to a talk about religion or faith. I for one have been to numerous events, where the church rented out it's facilities to speakers or musicians and religion played NO part in any of it. -
An Evening with Charles Alsheimer

Oh man, just looked at this thread and it turned out to be so interesting! So he tells everyone it's a seminar about deer and then he starts talking about God?? Like others have said, I have nothing against religion, but why does he feel the need to bring God up at a deer seminar?? Just NOT right. Would we like it if we were invited to some other unrelated event, and then it turned into an anti-gun or anti-hunting monologue?? No freaking way. I'd put him in the same category as those people who feel the need to yell at the top of their lungs on streets, subways and other public places that Jesus is their lord and savior and that everyone needs to follow him to be saved from the devil. These people may love Jesus, but have mental issues as well. -
I haven't seen Geno around here of late. I think he was busy making that video. LOL

[quote name="stubby68" post="311170" timestamp=" Yea Doc you forgot that he is super hunter. Marvel is makeing there next movie about him. Is this a come and find me invite. Let me know when you will be going to hunt the gorge and where exactly to meet you so There is no looking and hopeing I find the right blow hard. There are a lot of those around and picking one from the other can get hard. I will say you are a fun little guy to play with LOL!!! He thinks he's Superman and Spider-Man wrapped up in one. I think it's more like the rope snapped one too many times while he was repelling down into the gorges and he bumped his head hard a few times. LOL

I will take the higher road than you, and step out of this conversation with you. Really no sense arguing with you, when you obviously know it all. I will let others judge you for themselves.
-
I envy you about what?? LOL I could give a crap about you. I just laugh at your totally bizarre view of hunting. Instead of thinking of ways of how to keep the sport accessible to all, you want to make it an exclusive club for only those who have the money. Sorry Bud, NO envy about that.
-
Please stop implying that I went off topic here. Hey, you were first to respond directly back to a statement I made, so I am just calling a spade a spade. We have read enough of your posts to know where you are coming from. You make some money off hunting right now and you want to make MORE in the future. You argue until you are blue in the face, be it about CWD or anything else to protect this livelihood for yourself. The fact that people may have to cough up good money to hunt makes you completely happy. In your view everyone SHOULD have to, so people like yourself can make money. We know the deal.
-
Yes, you will be left with NOTHING. Rural people won't have the money to give you for the rights to hunt your land or shoot your penned deer, while the urban and suburban people, who may have some money are getting more and more removed from hunting, and mighty few of them will still be hunting in a few years. I think most people from any region are smart enough to know when they are getting ripped off. So all those $$$$ signs that you are seeing in front of your eyes will disappear. Maybe you'll end up selling those big penned bucks at a garage sale alongside your old toaster. I'll give you $5 for both. LOL
-
I've got to say that you have a VERY bizarre view of hunting and where you'd like to see it go. I fully know that things are changing, and I can accept change. Although, I surely will not be going the route you want hunting to take. I'll sooner give it up and so will many others. In the end you will be left with NOTHING also.
-
Maybe in your area you can get all these extra doe tags and dmap's, but there are plenty of areas where you don't. In lots of areas, you are lucky to draw a tag every other year. Those who do draw them will not be giving them away to others either.
-
I think most are self-propelled these days, unless you get a small, cheap one. I have a Honda and it's on it's 3rd summer. I don't have too much to mow, but so far I am happy with it. Beats the hell out of the Craftsman (not self-propelled) I used to have. At least the Honda always starts on one pull, while I used to dislocate my shoulder trying to start the Craftsman. I've just had more luck with Japanese designed engines, be they cars or anything else. They keep running, with little to NO maintenance required.

I don't need to get out more, you are exactly what I was talking about when I was referring to the trophy mentality that is ruining hunting. It's nothing but a money game to you, and at the same time you are even promoting illegal activity, since you know damned well that you can't kill 10 does if you only have tags for 5. You may own the land, but you DON'T own the game on it. I guess owning some deer in a pen makes you think you own the free ranging ones also? LOL
-
What are you implying? If they are given 5 tags, how will be able to take 10 on their own land legally? Yeah, I know it's a money world, and hunting won't be a free ride anymore, BUT it has to be within reason. You may get some hunters giving you $10K to shoot your penned deer, but there aren't too many willing to cough up that kind of money just for a chance to hunt a bit. It will all go down in shambles before you have ALL hunters spending small fortunes to shoot a stinking deer once a year, I can assure you of that.
-
I've always said that the trophy hunting mentality is the worse thing to ever happen to hunting. It has screwed things up in so many ways, that it isn't even funny. Forget about shooting does that need to get shot. Pretty soon it will be impossible to find a place to hunt ANYTHING unless you cough up some big $$. And before people say that there will still be state land available, not everyone will fit on state land. Plus, a lot of state land is such poor habitat compared to private land, that most hunters won't want to waste their time hunting it. You talk about what's wrong with hunting? Trophy hunting is the #1 problem. Like killing that big buck will enhance their manhood or something? Give me a break!

A Letter To All Sportsman Clubs
steve863 replied to dbHunterNY's topic in NY Clubs and Organizations Discussions
Yeah, those numbers seems high to me, too. Even if there are that many, I'd say less than a million are hardcore gun-rights supporters and that's not enough to oust Cuomo on this one issue. I know plenty of people who own guns, but it's not like they think about guns every minute of the day, and are willing to spend time and money fighting gun laws. Some will call them traitors, but you can't force anyone into anything. Not everyone is hardcore and you can't get pissed at them for not wanting to be. For many people there are more pressing issues to worry about. If gun-rights people were smart (which I honestly see little evidence of), they need to go after Cuomo on other issues and dig up dirt on him. Thinking that he will be ousted on the SAFE act issue alone is quite silly, because it will NEVER happen. -
Good question. Some of us have a few hunches, but maybe he can explain?
-
Didn't mean to offend anyone in particular. Other than my sister-in-law, who doesn't hunt, and isn't quite 375lbs, but is still definitely a lard butt. Took her along on vacation with us a couple weeks back, and the only time she gets off her tuff is when it's time to go to the table to eat. She can make it to the food in world record time. Otherwise, she won't move her fat a$$ if you paid her.
-
The problem in those areas where they want to hire people to cull deer is land access. You can't force people to allow hunting in suburban type areas. Plus, plenty of hunters don't see it as a "traditional" type hunt to hunt in someones backyard, thus you don't get many hunters who want to hunt this way. The combination of these two reasons, along with some others like hunters just wanting to shoot bucks and no does, brings forth the cull solution as the only feasible one to actually reduce herd numbers, although a costly one. This has been argued here before about the LI situation. LI never was, and NEVER will be a place hunters will be welcomed with open arms, so one shouldn't be surprised that it's come to this type of solution.

For the life of me, I can't see xbows bringing too many people into the sport. If any, it will literally be only a handful of people which will be insignificant in the scheme of things. Most of the people who will take up xbows will be gun hunters, who somehow think xbow hunting will make things easier for them in comparison to compound bows. Many will probably give it up after a few years when they find out it wasn't as easy as they first thought. LOL I completely agree with your second point. If anyone really thinks the DEC gives one hoot if the buck you kill is a 10 point compared to a spike, you are sadly mistaken. The antler restriction garbage is nothing but a pacifier to the cry babies who can't kill a decent buck and think AR's will be their salvation.

Can't speak for this ad or Gander since I've shopped at one of their stores only a few times. I love Cabelas, and think their customer service is great, but I don't see many pluses to having a Cabelas in NYS. Now we have to pay sales tax on mail orders which will really stink. Also, their prices aren't anything to write home about in the last 10 years or so, since they became a publicly traded company. They are getting quite expensive. Many times a store like Dick's will sell the same item for considerably less. The only time you save a few bucks is when you shop their bargain caves which are best on-line. The bargain cave in the PA store I've been to a few times didn't have anything great. If you are a lard butt and weigh 375lbs, then you'll find a few good deals on the XXXL garments, otherwise not a heck of a lot. If you become a Visa club member, you end up with some freebie stuff if you spend enough money on your credit card, which is great, but again you'll be losing a few bucks to tax now that they are established in NY. They may be better than Gander, but in the long run you won't be saving a great deal over other stores.

In his case, the pro-gun/hunting stance probably helped him a great deal. Do you think most people would even know or give a hoot about Ted Nugent at this point in his life?? Would any want to attend his concerts? No way. I for one could give a crap about any rock star, but Nugent would have been long forgotten if it wasn't for him keeping his own name in the news thru the gun issue.
