The Police State
steve863 replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
So you are piss-ed because people in the various agencies are armed, yet you want to be allowed to carry a gun freely and without any questions asked at all times? Some want teachers to be armed, yet are piss-ed that agents of certain governmental agencies are armed? If they allow a crazy like you to carry a gun, I think I'm OK with an IRS agent carrying one. What do you load your gun with, FMJ or hollow points? I don't think you're worried about what the rules are under the Geneva convention either. -
Cabelas may kick their butts, but it's still a long way from opening(spring 2016). I think the reason Gander looks like a ghost town is that hunting and fishing isn't exactly setting the world on fire in the south east corner of NYS. Yeah, there are still hunters and fisherman out there, but nowhere near as many as there used to be.

I've been to the one in PA a number of times and it's a great place to visit. I can imagine the traffic to the new one in Woodbury will be a nightmare, so I'll probably continue to mail order instead. You get the stuff in a couple of days, so why would fight the ridiculous traffic, plus they don't always have what's in the catalogs in the stores. There will be a downside to having Cabelas doing business in NYS also. Unless they strike some sort of deal with the state, now we will be charged sales tax on mail orders, since Cabelas has an established business within the state. Not looking forward to that.

I didn't ask for your resume, I asked you what YOU did in standing up against this tyrannical government you keep complaining about or anything else that you are against? I could care less what you did for a living in your life or that you are divorced. Your parents being revolutionaries doesn't make you one since you were 2 years old at the time. Once again you did not answer any questions. You only bitch about everyone else and accuse everyone of being a sheep. If we are sheep, you are a goat because you keep proving it post after post.
-
VJP, you accuse everyone of being sheep, Could you please give us a list of things that you have done that showed YOUR bravery and valor in standing up against government or anything else for that matter? So far you can't even answer a simple question when you are asked. All you do is bitch about everyone else, like it's always someone else's fault and never yours. How is that different from liberal philosophy that you can't stand?? In my opinion, and I'm quite sure in the opinion of many around here, you are pretty much a legend in your own mind and that's about the extent of it. Good day!

136 Acres for Sale in Northeastern PA
steve863 replied to chrisp2958's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Think what you want, but someone advertising 136 acres as hunting land for $999K will be waiting a LONG time before it gets bought. Maybe you'd get this kind of money from a developer who plans to construct a few homes on it, but NO way in hell from someone who wants to buy a chunk of hunting land. Someone who has that kind of money for hunting land surely won't be buying it in the Poconos either. -
Had to share. Goat Riding a Man Riding a Bike
steve863 replied to burmjohn's topic in General Chit Chat
That guy on the bike delivered that goat to Papist and VJP a while back. They slaughtered and then barbecued it. Apparently there was something wrong with the meat, so that may help explain things about those two. LOL -

steve863 replied to chrisp2958's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Anyone who would pay anywhere near $999K for 136 acres in the Poconos would need to have his head examined. Yeah, there are people living there (actually too many these days) and others who might frequent the area, but NO way in hell is it a hunter's paradise or any other sort of paradise by any stretch of the imagination. For $999K you could buy a ton of land in other locations and you'd be far from a suburban environment which the Poconos are quickly becoming if they aren't already. If I am to spend $999K on land, I don't want to see another house anywhere near me. Good luck finding that in the Poconos. -
That's what I tell clowns like Papist and VJP, who keep bitching about how bad and hopeless things are in this country. I dare them to revoke their US citizenships and find a country where they will be allowed as much freedom as in this country. Let's not even get into gun ownership. They damned sure wouldn't be owning AR type rifles as easily or everything else we could own in this country, even in NYS. Good luck to them in search of their utopias!! LOL

the tide is turning
steve863 replied to bubba's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
There are plenty of people who have distorted views of politics and the world on this forum. Papist and VJP surely don't have the upper hand on anyone here, however. From all I have read, those two are by far the biggest loones. They talk down to everyone and consider everyone else stupid, while they think that they are the smartest ones walking on this planet. All they do is bitch and say "I told you so", yet can't come up with one bloody solution when someone asks them to. Yeah, that's credibility. LOL -
136 Acres for Sale in Northeastern PA
steve863 replied to chrisp2958's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
$9.99 may look better than shelling out a full 10 bucks, but $999K won't convince many that they aren't coughing up a full million. LOL. NO way that there is a hunting paradise worth anywhere near that for 136 acres in the Poconos. Good luck selling it, you will need it. -
I guess he's finding out what a pain in the a$$ it is to sell guns. Not worth the effort in most cases. Better off just giving them to people who might actually appreciate them.
-
So Wooly, was that your second shot fired from that gun that you recently bought for a mere $50? I reckon you are 2 for 2!! As I said last time, there is Wooly and then there's the rest of you about 9 miles behind. Wooly probably don't even need a gun or bow to kill em. He can call them up real close and just grab them and wring their necks. Why waste a shell or arrow??
-
There are some who consider themselves hunters around here, but then there is Wooly. Great job, story and pictures as usual!!

Astorino picks a running ,mate.
steve863 replied to bubba's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You are giving Cuomo WAY too much credit, if you think he has the slightest chance in the world to become president. He has ZERO chance, and you can take that one to the bank. He wouldn't be elected dog catcher on a national level. -
The problem with selling items like guns, is that you will have 100 guys trying to low-ball you, before you get one who is willing to give you anything close to what you want for it. Multiply this by the amount of guns your godfather has, and it becomes a ROYAL pain in the a$$ to sell them. I know that I will never sell my guns, whether I use them or not. Even if I got top dollar for them, how much would that really help me? My kids can have them once I check out, and if they don't want them, they could dispose of them any way they want. I surely won't worry about it now, and most certainly won't be worrying about it then. LOL
-
Definitely the nicest collection of guns ever put up for sale on this site. Probably worth the $15-20K for all of them together, although I don't think you will find too many out there willing to buy them all from you. Kind of feel sorry for your godfather, if he needs the money. Guns in general are a lousy investment, and the $15-20K, if he gets it, won't exactly go very far these days.

SD joins states challenging NY gun ban
steve863 replied to Doc's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Maybe someone can enlighten me, but where is there a ban on ALL semi-auto weapons in NYS?? I own BOTH a semi-auto rifle and shotgun, and NO one is considering them illegal. In addition, there is definitely NO ban on hunting with ALL semi-auto weapons in NYS either. This is a BS challenge made up by people who don't even have all the facts straight about the SAFE act in NYS. Sorry to tell you, but this won't go anywhere, or have any effect on changing the law in NYS. -
Actually, the only reason some of us come back from time to time is to bust on you, since you're so sensitive.
-
"What's wrong with this deer" It had the misfortune of logging into this forum, and it went into convulsions after reading the BS that is written here.

Whether it's a dog barking out of control, or someone spending a bunch of hours each weekend firing away, it's downright annoying for a neighbor to be listening to it. A person is entitled to have some peace and quiet in their own homes with the windows shut. Constant noise from barking dogs, dirt bikes OR gunfire will penetrate a shut window. If someone doesn't give a hoot about being the cause of such noise, so be it, but just don't be surprised when someone does confront you about it, and it's only a matter of time before someone does. Telling someone that it's your legal right to do so will not be a good enough of answer for everyone. They also have every legal right to think of you as an arrogant butt- hole, that has no respect for their neighbors. Surely won't help in winning anyone over to the gun rights point of view either. With rights comes responsibility and some respect.
-
Legal or not, I think it's flat out rude to shoot dozens upon dozens of rounds, if you are situated in close proximity to other homes. Maybe if you live 1/2 mile or more from another house, you could go at it, but in most areas in NYS, that isn't the case. I would excuse an occasional sighting in session, or what not, but shooting hours on end is unacceptable. If you like to shoot a lot, find yourself a shooting range and shoot there. Disturbing the peace with loud blasts around peoples homes won't make you a hero to very many, other than to those of a similar uncaring, I do what I want mindset.

3,000 deer on LI in federal sharpshooters' sights this winter
steve863 replied to the blur's topic in Deer Hunting
Look, I've hunted long enough to know that hunting is NOT a slam dunk anywhere. When you want deer to show up, they very well may not. That is not the argument here. The argument is whether a suburban environment is a natural environment for deer. It surely is not. The Catskills and Adirondacks may not hold many deer, but guess what? It surely is a more natural environment for them, than the LI suburbs are. In fact the big woods replicate what most of the northeast was before the white man settled on this land. So you can continue to believe whatever you want, but you guys surely won't convince me that LI is ideal habitat for deer.
