I also bow hunted a lot this year. I went out 38x and logged 120hrs in the stand. I saw good action and activity from the opener until Nov.1. Scrapes were hot, trailcams were on fire, had pics of several mature bucks up and on the move, pics of all kinds of bucks passing through the area, daytime activity, seeing deer every time out, etc... up until 11/1. After that, everything went DEAD!! From 11/2-11/18, I went out 24x and only saw deer 3x!! PATHETIC!!! I was thinking if things were that great in October, that November would be awesome! Boy was I wrong! I think the deer in my area rutted mid-late October and have been locked down since early November. ALL the signs were there in mid-late October, but I thought it was too early and things were just getting started.

I can certainly see why you were so frustrated with the guy, but you did a stupid thing. BEFORE you popped the guy, you should have been aware of the NYS Hunter Harassment law and provided the cops with this when they said it was a "grey area". I'll take the Saturday opener any day! If anyone feels that strongly about the Monday opener, they can still sit around camp over the weekend, BS, shoot their guns in, and just wait until Monday to hunt! LOL

I drive ~25 miles one way to camp every day. Haven't seen any hit along the road.

The woods have been completely dead for me. Charlie said from the 12th-20th would be the ruts "sweet spot". God I hope it gets better than this! I've been out 32x so far. The rut seemed to be simmering up until ~10 days ago, then it seems like it has shut down for me.

Activity was MUCH better from mid-late October for me. Saw a lot of scrape activity (pics and videos), a lot of different bucks on the move, 30-40% of the activity was during daylight hours, and I got pics of big mature bucks moving. Now, scrapes are DEAD, 95% of the activity that I do see on the trailcams are from night time, I haven't gotten pics of any mature bucks in ~10 days now. I just don't know! I was sitting in the stand this morning thinking, "Did I miss something?" The one and only buck that I saw showing any interest in does was on 10/25 and he was "half-heartedly" chasing/harassing her. That's it! I haven't seen any bucks cruising with their nose to the ground, no chasing, haven't heard any grunting, haven't called in any bucks by grunting like I usually do, nothing! I've been out 26 times so far, and season has only been open for 29 days, so I put in my time out in the stand. It was definately better early season. Granted, the warm spell sucked, which was immediately followed by the full moon. I never see squat for activity around a full moon. I'm hoping Charlie was right with his dates this year. He said the rut "sweet spot" would be 11/12-11/20. No, I don't put much stock into his predictions, but I do pay attention out of curiosity. I'm off for the next 16 days. We'll see how things progress...

Ahhhh, Tom.... I can still smell you from here! LOL That would suck! Try spraying some scent killer on the area where you were sprayed.

That sucks! Hope you find out who it was and prosecute. Back ~10 years ago, when I was making home brew trail cams, a guy came up with a pretty good idea. He made legit foil type labels for inside the cams with a fake serial #. The labels said to call this # to request an owners manual. When/if anyone stole the cam, it was a home brew so there were no instructions available on the net, the thief would call the # to request an owners manual, give their contact info, and whalla, you knew who it was! Might be worth a shot if you put any more out there.
