Cabin Fever

Been thinking about trying some arrows with QuickFletch. Interested to hear any first hand experience with it... pro's or con's.? Any noticeable difference in arrow flight?

I use a bag target for shooting field points that I love. Effortless arrow removal! Unfortunately, broadheads destroy it, so I needed a target just for broadheads. Since my broadheads shoot just about exactly like my field points, I really only need to take a few shots with by broadheads each year. Even if they are difficult to remove from the new target, thankfully it'll just be for a few confidence shots.

I've been planning on adding a couple more ladder stands to my collection. I stopped at Runnings yesterday and saw one that looked pretty cool for $199. One thing that I hate about ladder stands is doing that white-knuckle initial climb when putting it up and the last descent when taking it down, while it's not ratcheted/secured to the tree! The X-Stand "The Duke" has an interesting claw/jaws with long cables mounted on the top of the stand, so when the stand is erect, you pull the cables (from the ground) to close the claw and grip onto the tree, then you use a ratchet strap to tighten and secure the top of the stand to the tree, before you ever climb up. I've never seen anything like this before, but I'm digging it! I might not be explaining it well, so he's an instructional video. You can skip to 3:10 to see the claw in action. I haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know after I put some "blemishes" on it!

What's the outlook?

I've been looking around for a target specifically for broadheads. I happened to be in Runnings and looked at what targets they had. They had Block 6x6 targets for $99 and after a price search, I saw that all other places were selling them for $110-$120. Then I happened to notice a stack of the same items for $69. They had a sign that they were marked down, due to "blemishes". They had scuffs and very minor dents in them, but that's it! I decided to snatch one up, knowing I would be putting a lot more "blemishes" on it anyways! If you're in the market, check it out...

I got a pic of a piebald spike at my old camp a few years ago. I got a pic of it the next year in the exact same spot and he was sporting a decent 8pt rack 14-16" wide. Unfortunately, the neighbor shot him later that year...

YIKES!! Just had to look it up, as I've never heard of it before! What can you do for it? Hope it gets better soon.
