  1. I just got permission to hunt a new property last week, so I have a lot to learn about the deer patterns on it. After the nasty storm last night, and being mid-Nov, I had high expectations for this mornings hunt. It would rain a while, then would sleet a while, and kept going back and forth all morning. About 8:15, I was kinda suprised that I hadn't seen anything yet. Just then, I glanced over my shoulder and saw a big doe hauling ass towards me and she stopped 15 yards away. Her mouth was open and panting, while she stared intently at her back trail. I had NO intentions of shooting a doe, but I didn't get any deer last year and I sure would like to have some in the freezer this year. As I was deciding if I wanted to shoot her, I kept watching her backtrail that I could see for 100 yards, but didn't see any bucks pushing her. I figured I would draw my bow, then make up my mind. (Yep, I fell for it!) I figured being my luck, it would be just a small buck/non-shooter chasing her and I would lose my bird-in-the hand freezer meat. The best I can figure, the brain must have told the trigger finger that it was "Go time" and that sealed her fate! The Hoyt launched an arrow her way! She spun, ran ~75 yards and tipped over within sight! NICE!! I nocked another arrow, just incase, and watched her backtrail. 2-3 min later, I saw a buck about 100 yards away, running frantically and zig-zagging, nose to the ground trying to pick up her trail. At first, I didn't think he was a shooter, but as he got closer and I got a better look, I changed my mind!! As if it was meant to be, he stopped for the one and only time 18 yards away and broadside, about 5 yards from where I had shot the doe! I thought my shot appeared a little high on the doe, so I purposely aimed low for the heart. The Hoyt launched another arrow to it's mark! The buck ran ~75 yards and tipped over!! Thank God!! Got to break in the new truck too!

  8. Saw a doe around 7:00 and I think she might be bedded ~100 yards in front of me. Later had a couple fawns go through. At 8:00, a decent split brow 9pt walked by at 18 yards. I’ve gotten several trail cam pics of him over the past couple days. Hunting brand new ground and I know there’s bigger around, so I let him walk. Might regret it later.... 9. My daughter has been quite sick, so she went for a Covid test last week. They told her 3-5 days to get the results, but today is 7 days, with still no results! I'm about ready to choke someone!
  10. Thanks Rob! Literally, right out my back door too! I close on my new house next month. The owners of the adjoining property live in CA. I've sent them 2 letters, called and left messages 2x, and contacted them through LinkedIn, but FINALLY heard back yesterday! Now I have my own property, plus the adjoining 66 acres to hunt!!
  11. Happy Birthday! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Got permission yesterday to hunt a property that I’ve been trying to get permission for since July! Did a quick power scout of the perimeter yesterday afternoon, not wanting to disturb the bedding area. Threw up a stand at 4pm, just so I would have a spot to sit this morning. Will pick a better spot and move the stand after my morning sit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I just came off a 48hr deerless dry spell on the cams! The only way I knew they were working, was from squirrels and raccoons triggering them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I haven’t had a shooter on cam since Oct 30th. Haven’t had a shooter on cam during daylight hours since mid Aug!! NOT very motivating!! Very envious of you guys seeing big bucks on the move and rutting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. When I do a euro, I buy all the supplies at the local Sally beauty supply. Funny when I go in there to get the stuff, they know exactly what I'm going to do with it! Guess I'm not their normal/usual looking customer!
  16. Got some nice pics there bigpaul!
  17. Love that adrenaline rush! Did you get the shakes too?? I remember times when I couldn’t draw my bow back because I was shaking so bad! I thought there was something wrong with my bow! LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Are you aware of any free satellite imagery online maps that don't have foliage? Doesn't do much good to zoom in on greenery.
