Cabin Fever replied to Marion's topic in Deer Hunting
If the deer was for me, I might have thrown in the towel by now! Every year, I give my brother the first deer I get. He doesn’t hunt, but loves venison. I make sure he’s set, before I put meat in my own freezer. This year, I was expecting a good gun season with new property to hunt, so I wasn’t worried about getting him one later! Boy was I wrong!! I’ve hunted my ass off and this was the first deer I’ve seen since Nov. 16,when I scored with my bow! VERY thankful to get this meat for him!! First deer killed on MY property too! Just moved in 2 weeks ago! Also, first kill with the new muzzleloader! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Headed out in a few min after I down another cup of coffee. It’s been a long frustrating season, but I’ll miss not going out and sitting in the stand hoping that could be my day! I’ll be blowing the dust off the predator hunting stuff soon and give that another try this season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Hard to imagine, but I haven’t seen a deer, glimpse or tail, for exactly 35 days now! I’ve been out ~30 times since then. The last deer I saw was the buck I shot with my bow on Nov.16th! They’re here, just nocturnal! Plenty of tracks and night time pics to keep me motivated and hopeful, but man this SUCKS!!! Getting down to the wire!! WTF........ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Browning Strikeforce and Tactacam Reveal - not bad
Cabin Fever replied to moog5050's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
As an FYI, incase it would help any Tactacam Reveal owners in the future, I placed a call to them yesterday about an issue I was having. You’re supposed to be able to use the Reveals as a non-cell cam and still have pics save to the SD card. After my subscription expired, this was my plan, but it wouldn’t work on any of my 3 cams. I called CS and luckily got connected with Jeff. He was stumped also! Then, he suggested I remove the SIM card and try it. Then, it started saving pics to the SD card!! So, moral of the story, if you’re just looking to save pics to the SD card, you might need to remove the SIM card to do so. On another note, I asked about a timeframe when we would be able to transmit ALL pics, instead of just the 2nd pic (I HATE that!!). He assured me it would be in the next few months! NICE!!! He said they didn’t want to roll that out during season and risk having something go wrong and screwing guys up! He also said they have several new improvements coming that will “Blow us away”!!! Ive been very happy with my Tactacam Reveals and will be investing in ~6 more next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

They’re here, just moving at night. I have ~10 sets of tracks crossing my backyard, that were made last night! LOL I wasn’t feeling too ambitious this morning, so I hunted the stand ~175 yards behind the house. I must have cut another 15 or so sets of tracks by the time I got to the stand! The ~150 acre wood lot (4 different properties) is bordered on all sides by corn and winter wheat/rye fields. I don’t have access to all of that, but a most of it. The deer only have to travel an area that’s about 50-75 yards in between thick bedding and ag fields. I guess since they have 14 1/2hrs of darkness to move around and feed now, with only 50-75 yards to travel to get to food, they really don’t need to move during the daylight hours. All of my stands (5) are right on the edge of what I believe is their bedding area(s), so I can cover out to the ag fields. My stands are all within ~100 yards of the ag fields. Being that I just got permission to hunt here 5-6 weeks ago, I wanted to keep it low impact, as to not disturb anything. Hopefully I can catch a couple on their feet before muzzleloader season closes! I’ve lowered my standards “significantly”, to if it’s brown it’s down! LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Just looked at the calendar and realized I haven’t even seen a deer in 33 days now! I’ve been out 22x since, without even a sighting! Sure is hard to get up and go out in sub freezing temps, knowing I probably won’t see anything. Really wanted 1-2 more for the freezer... Ok, suiting up and heading out... As I was in the stand this evening, I was thinking back on previous muzzleloader seasons. I don’t recall ever seeing a buck during muzzleloader season, let alone shooting one! WTF... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Finally moved into the new house last Wed and am settled enough that I can spare a couple hours to hunt. First time EVER that I can walk out my back door and hunt!! Been looking forward to this day for the last 40 YEARS!! I put up a stand ~150 yards behind the house, so if I see anything or not,it’ll be a good day to be in the woods! Might not be able to wipe the smile off my face at the end of the day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 8220 replies

I contacted the previous home owner, as I knew they both worked from home, and relied heavily on fast reliable internet access for WebEx meetings and such. They used Nomad Internet https://nomadinternet.com/ , with no complaints. Pretty expensive at $129/month, but I have no other choice at this point, so I just ordered..... UGH!! I’ll give an update once I get the WiFi router and have things up and running, incase it can help someone else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks. I went to that site and entered my email and address. No word if it’s available in my area yet. Crazy that I’m close enough to the city limits (2-3 miles) that I have public water, but no Spectrum, Verizon, or Frontier internet! Sheesh, I may as well be living in a little house on the prairie in Walnut Grove! LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
