  1. What a beauty!! Congrats!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I've had to try to "re-train" mine, to get on a more convenient schedule! I started carrying a roll of toilet paper in my backpack, just incase, but I haven't any emergency dumps yet! Seems like when I don't carry toilet paper, I'm busting to go and looking around for leaves!
  3. Had to sit out the last couple of days. I've had what the doctor believes is a pinched nerve in my neck. Neck, shoulders, arms, and hands were throbbing in pain and tingling. Opening day I sat from daylight til dark in the stand, but I was in agony all day. Had to leave the stand Sunday, because I was in so much pain I was physically shaking. Doc gave me orders yesterday to take it easy and prescribed Prednisone, Vicodin, and Flexeril, so I'm going to try to limit my stand time to one hunt a day now for some balance. I'm moving in 2 weeks, so I NEED to get better for that! I haven't seen a deer yet, so I don't think I'm missing much. Still plenty of season left. Besides, I would rather take one with my new muzzleloader anyways.
  4. I'm an 8pt kind of guy. Actually, it's a pet peeve of mine when I hear someone say, "8pt buck". It's like, DUHHH. If it's an 8pt, it's pretty much a given that it's a buck!! YES, I know does can have antlers, but it's a rarity.
  5. Happy Birthday! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Damn it! Now I think I'm the ONLY one who hasn't at least seen a deer since gun season opened! I've been out every day, except today, but have yet to see a deer! WTF...
  7. So THAT's what those are for!!! I've been using mine as a seat cushion all these years!! DUH!! Makes sense now!!! See, you can teach an old fat dog new tricks!!
  8. Sorry to hear sodfather! Especially sucks that it happens now! Hope it passes soon without your family getting it.
  9. I'll soon be moving into a house that uses propane. Is there anything I need to consider when choosing a propane provider or just go with who the current homeowner uses (Phelps Sungas)? Seems like it would be easier than having them remove their tank and someone else moving one in. I'm told there's not much difference in price between providers.? Any other advantages or disadvantages?
  10. Congrats Jay!! Props to GMan as well!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Day 3 is starting out like days 1&2, no deer seen! DAF for some reason. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That’s awesome Jay!! Can’t wait for the story and pics! I know you’ve been having an unusually sucky season and were frustrated, but you stuck with it and GOTTER DONE!! Congrats!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Sounds like the majority of everyone experienced the same thing on opening day, unusually no/few deer sightings AND much less than normal shots heard. Interesting. It was dead for the 3 of us!!
  14. Been DAF all morning. Bet the nearest shot was a mile away. No deer seen between 3 of us! I’m in the stand daylight til dark regardless. Thank God I packed a hearty lunch/picnic basket!! Eating well if nothing else!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Congrats! Great looking buck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Nothing seen yet in 8H between my son, daughter or myself. No close shooting either. New area and had high expectations. It’s gonna have to be a slammer before I pull the trigger though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. New property so not sure what to expect. I have myself, my son, and my daughter set up on escape routes. I'm in a swamp, but the kids are set up overlooking thickets and edges. Doubt anyone can see more than 75 yards in any direction.
  18. The pic of the two crashed out on the couch is hilarious! Don’t we all feel like that after a long day of hunting! Can’t imagine doing all that tracking on those 4 short legs! LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Sorry to hear. Gonna be tough going for awhile! We just had to put down our 18 year old dog 4 weeks ago today. She had kidney and liver failure, barely ate, lost 1/3 of her body weight in 2 months, partially blind, and you could just see the sadness in her eyes. We were crushed, but felt we were being selfish hanging onto her for ourselves, knowing she was suffering and would only get worse. The house felt empty for days, but we all knew it was the right thing to do and she wasn’t suffering anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. That sucks Larry and sure makes you sick when it happens! Sounds like you went beyond due diligence to locate him, so you did your best.
  21. Thanks for all the kind words and congrats today fellas! He might be my best buck yet or close to it! I've only had permission to hunt that property for the past 5 days. I wasn't really sure where to put up stands or what the quality of bucks was like out there. Knew that no one else has had permission to hunt it, so there "should" be some good bucks out there. Just got lucky! My morning went from seeing nothing, to having a big rut crazed buck come busting through frantically chasing a doe, and having 2 deer on the ground in a ~3min span! LOL Good luck!
  22. My Dad passed, in 2006, so I've used his .300 Win Mag every year for him. It was his baby...
