  1. I believe it. I regularly check WU 10-day forecast for days like this Saturday. I have no data to prove anything, but it's something I have always heard and read. Whitetail Habitat Solutions has a lot of info on hunting the weather if you don't follow him, he's worth a look. Good info here... go right to 11 min.

  3. So that's your first tree stand selfie!? Awesome, many more to come I'm sure. Welcome to the group, this is a great place to learn and share. There are a LOT of very knowledgable people here. Best of luck to you, you seem to be figuring it out pretty quickly!! D
  4. Man, this pic choked me right up. I spend a lot of time in the tree thinking about the times I spend hunting with my Dad. Enjoy every minute of them Biz..
  5. This is interesting. When we pulled the lungs from the buck yesterday morning we saw on slice across the top of each lung, maybe 1/2" deep, of course they were deflated so who knows what that meant upon impact, BUT my son, a fan of 3-4 blade fixed heads, made a comment... "if that 2 blade Killzone where rotated 90 degrees do you think this would this be a dead deer?" My opinion is a 100% yes, the lungs are pressed to the ribs/spine, I'm not anatomy expert, but I'm pretty sure if its under the spine, its in the lungs. Nope it wouldn't have. I did hit a deer above the spine one time when Rage first came out. That thing flew like a cork screw and skimmed the top of the deer. It was shot a few days later by the farmer. the wound was clear and nasty, but it was a muscle wound only.
  6. I thought I would post this here being as a lot of us really do enjoy the "old" harvest thread format. I decided not to hunt Saturday morning and instead head out for an afternoon sit. I walked the 1/2 miles through the loudest crunchiest leaves I have ever heard. I got to the stand, hung my bow on the rope, took off my pack, hung it on the rope, took two steps up the ladder and it creaked. Instantly I heard the "snap!" of a branch and looked up to see a very nice 8 point trotting away, not 30 yards from me. Directly down wind. He must have stood or was bedded right there and watched me over the last 80 yard approach and begin my climb. It was really cool to see and it was a buck we do not have pics of. 4 hours later, I'm getting ready for the last hour of the day and I catch movement from below as a deer moves up the hill on the trail I'm posted on. The setting sun made it difficult to really see what it was, but as he cleared a briar patch the left beam shined like a beacon in the sunlight. I thought I knew this buck! We have had pics of him since July. He looked to be a beast on camera. I started shaking. I thought to myself "come ON... this is nothing new, get it together." A few deep breaths and he walked behind a big oak, I drew and he stopped dead. For about a minute I held a full draw until he began moving again, another 15 yards into an opening, I grunted, he stopped and I let it fly. I could see the hit was high, it looked really high. I was a wreck. I watched him run about 150 yards from me before disappearing. I waited a few minutes and looked for the arrow. Nothing. Small amounts of blood. I figured I looked a little further and found good blood, but looked down the hill to see what appears to be his head bobbing left and right. I backed out. Went in the next morning and found him right there. After comparing the pics and the videos we have, it was clear that this deer was not the one I thought he was, very similar, but not the same deer. The deer I thought he was has two brows, this one only has one and he was not as big-bodied. We do not have any pics of this deer on camera. I am super happy with him and very thankful that I had the chance to take him. Thanks to everyone for all the support and encouragement after the shot. He's going on the wall!

Deer is all taken care of, truck is cleaned out, clothes are in the wash. Of course the wife says “let’s put up the Christmas lights while it’s warm”... can’t argue with that. I just put the last wreath and lights up on the roof and am ready to relax! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks everyone, he’s a really nice deer. 19” inside spread and his left G2 is 11 3/4. That’s all I actually measured. He’s got a few battle scars too, cool buck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Here is a little better shot. I don’t think he is the deer I thought he was, but I haven’t had a chance to really compare the video. He’s big, but not huge. I Couldn’t be happier. Shot was high but I clipped the top of both lungs, he went 100 yards and was right where I saw the movement before backing out. Caped him at the truck, ran down to Kennedy and packed everything in ice and straight to the butcher, the cape and head will go to S&S first thing in the am. Did not find the arrow, clearly the Bowtech is so hard hitting that it is buried to the nock. LOL! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Hope so. Heading out in a few minutes. Starbucks then an hour drive down. WU says 41* feeling good about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Ok, I’ll play... So I shot a deer today, maybe the best deer ever, a spectacular deer, quite amazing actually, a tremendous deer. That’s what they say anyway, we’ll see. Could be the best deer ever. I don’t know? We’ll have to wait and see. I can tell you that it was a big deer, maybe the biggest ever. We’re going to wait until tomorrow to recover the deer, a really good deer. Could be the best deer ever. The shot was good, looked good, looked great, really great...actually. But the experts say we should wait. We’ll see. Fake news, those killers back there won’t tell you it’s a good idea to wait, but we know. We’re going to wait and do the right thing, the best thing. Trust me, tomorrow we will have a great deer in the truck, perhaps the best deer ever. But they won’t report it, they won’t tell you what a great deer it is. THE DONALD. Hows that? 12. Oooooh... maybe I have a Trillium connection now??!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Maybe, but I am not 100% confident in the shot. Waiting till morning. That’s all there is to it, It’s the right thing to do. This is my 42nd bow season, I am not new to this. Playing it safe and praying things work out. I lost a massive 10 pt last year 100 yards from where I shot this one today because I pushed it. I do not want a repeat of that, even if it costs me the tenderloins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. 99% sure this is the one I shot... gonna be a long night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. OK, I was never so shaken at the shot as with this buck! Watched him come in below me for 80 yards. He came right up the trail to an intersection I ranged at 35yards. I let it fly and hit a little high. I watched him run down the hill zig and zagged a few times, tail up. looked like blood on the exit side as he spun and ran. Did not find the arrow, but I backed out quickly after I thought I saw some movement down the hill. Giving him until the morning. Not going to sleep much tonight... It was already 49 when I left so I am confident it will be cool enough over night not to spoil the meat.
  22. Good color but not a lot of blood. I’m backing out... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Just shot a monster. Hit him high I think...more to come. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
