  1. Just walked in for the afternoon sit. Two steps up my ladder and I finally got a daytime sighting of one of the big boys. He jumped up 20 yards from the tree in this thick stuff and bounded off... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hunted a new set this morning until 11:30, only a couple of spikes and 2 does, pulled a card after climbing down to find yet another big boy on the hill. Only night time pics...this is getting frustrating to say the least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Interesting that this has taken off. I only posted because I thought a member was having trouble finding slugs a while back. When I moved to NY in the late 80s I brought my rifles and shotguns with me. I soon learned of the ridiculous (to me at the time) shotgun laws for deer hunting and bought a smooth bore barrel for my 20 gauge. I shot some deer with it, they all died. For some reason I thought I needed a 12 gauge rifled barreled deer gun so I bought an 1100. It kicked a lot harder but still killed deer. Thankfully NYS allowed rifles in Catt county in the early 2000’s and I quickly pulled out the .270 and bought a few new rifles. Never looked back. I still have that old 20 gauge in my safe, but all the other slug guns are long gone. unless I have the opportunity to hunt in Erie county it will never see the woods again. 4. I've had 2 new Chevy's and 2 new Rams. The Chevy's are really nice, the Rams are really nice, the ram has more power, faster and bigger interior. MUCH better MPG even with the Hemi. The most rear seat room in the Crew Cab goes to the new model Rams, then Chevy, then Ford. (look it up...) That being said, my next truck will definitely be a Ford F150, they tow better than the Ram (1/2 ton) and they hold their value better and honestly, I just like the design more. Oh those Toyotas though... So nice. If you don't already have "a guy" at a dealership, PM me, I have a really good WNY contact who sells every brand.
  5. 9K- Went down to move a stand this afternoon. Scrapes are really opening up, fresh rubs popping up as well. We have plenty of sparing and some chasing on camera. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I agree 100% with that. I never notice a recoil when shooting at game. The turkey loads are horrible though!
  7. I will never shoot a shotgun slug again.
  8. S&S will take payment over the phone and hold for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I thought I remembered reading that some folks were having trouble finding slugs. S&S in Springville just posted this if you are in WNY.
  10. Go enjoy your hunt, shoot whatever legal deer you want and don't let anyone tell you that you can't or shouldn't. We hunt for different reasons and are all at different stages of our hunting careers, only you know what you will be happy with. Best of luck!
  11. I stopped there last weekend and took a look around. It's a nice place, I can't believe I never knew it was there. A friend took his dog there last Saturday as well and shot two pheasants. I think the place will be overrun with hunters once it becomes well known. The lake looks beautiful, I'm looking forward to taking the kayak and doing some fishing next summer.
  12. I'll let you know tomorrow. I only reviewed the videos today and the 10 pointer with all the crab claws has the blood flowing for sure. I'm going to try to get down there and hang a new stand before the weekend, I do not have one on that particular trail.
  13. Highlights from the latest camera pull from yesterday. Now if we can just get some of these guys to show up while on stand!
  14. I moved an 18 footer last weekend myself in about 15 minutes. I’m pretty tall so that helps, being Moog-strong also helps (I am not!) . I lay it in front of the tree with the base of the ladder 5 feet or so from the base of the tree. I lift the seat end and start walking the ladder up in the air until it drops agains the tree, wrap the stabilizer straps and secure the ladder bar to the tree. Then a carful climb to secure the straps up top. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. A lot of acorns, but definitely less than last year in our area of 9K
  16. Go talk to him. I have a very similar situation where a neighbor and his son have large wooden box stands on the line, facing into our side. The guy stopped me on my ATV with a gun in his hand the summer we leased it and flat out told me he was doing what he wanted and I wasn't going to stop him. I was firm with him, but non confrontational. We don't get along and I have video of him and his family on our side over the last few months. He posted every other tree along his side last week. I'm not sure exactly why, other to make a point I guess. I was thinking of hanging large blue tarps across the trees 5 feet in front of his stands just to mess with him! But, instead, I think i'm just going to stop there this Saturday and talk with him. It's not worth having problems with the neighbors if it can be avoided. In my case, I don't live there so I have no real control anyway. I say go talk to him, my biggest concern would be that he is aware that you and your kid are there and not to shoot in that direction.
  17. Ammo was getting too hard to find and too expensive.
  18. I use scent free soaps during the season, but right before the hunt? Nope.
  19. I have a 20 round box of Federal Power Shok 270 Winchester Short Mag ammo I am willing to donate to anyone using this caliber. I sold this gun two years ago so I have no use for it. I'm in WNY (Hamburg)
  20. If anyone is shooting 270wsm, I have a box of Federal I am more than willing to part with. No charge. WNY only.

My company does over 100 shows a year in the US/CAN alone, including 9 major shows, right now we have a $500,000 booth sitting in a warehouse. The shows are all going virtual in our industry. It's very very strange, but people seem to be doing it. It will be interesting to see if it ever comes back to the way it was, I mean the cost is insane to do trade shows, and all of the events that go along with them. We have done a few virtual symposiums with key opinion leaders that were very successful, I see it going that way in the future. People are adapting to how things have changed, if businesses can reach goals without the huge spend of the show season they will do it.
  22. Anyone in the Buffalo area ever hear of Clear Lake WMA in North Collins? I see it is listed as a pheasant release site. I've driven by there and had no idea it even existed???
