Hi Wooly. Been a while. Hope you're well. Nice pics as always.

Many Americans are also happy and content to see Christmas consigned to the memory hole of Orwellian cultural extinction. Some have actively sought this, others are simply too lazy, stupid and culturally unaware to feel much about it all. The end result is the same. Any nation that has had it's national soul eviscerated and replaced by base materiel motive or vapid issues of 'social justice', is ripe for a tyrannical take-over at some future date. Americans are cultural ships, lost at sea, with no anchor and at the mercy of any winds of change. Happy Festivus / Kwanzaa

Merry Christmas - why we shouldn’t stop saying it

One side of our woods is along a road. I have found old toilets, beer cans, bottles, tv's,an assortment of rubbish dumped from the back of vans and pick-ups. I once even found a bag of skunk weed. I guess someone was getting pulled over and ditched the evidence.

Under UN mandate, parks like the Adirondacks are now to remain ' Ever Wild'. There will never be proper management there now, with clear cutting and so forth. Man is evil and no longer part of nature apparently. So much for good stewardship.

Really? Guess you have some ready examples of this to hand to support your contention. We'll wait. -

So the muzzle loader harvest thread has one or two posts. Maybe DEC should look at the smokepole as the weapon of choice for next years doe cull? -
Thin end of a fireman replacement wedge for a future minus guns? The Spidey senses are tingling on this one.

I'd have given him another year. -
If the problem of deer overpopulation and damage is an urban issue, but local leadership, for fuzzy and liberal reasons, doesn't want to see a cull, then perhaps authority duly exercised is what is called for. What is the point of having authority if not for the benefit of man and beast alike? If such a use of power is authoritarian, can someone explain why that is a bad thing?

Some of us however have been passing on doe because we are not seeing many in our areas. The DEC clearly has no idea what is happening where in terms of real numbers. You are basically asking some of us to take a season off.

All in all, a good season for me. Almost got an 8 point in early bow on a neighbors property but eventually dropped a nice 10 pt bow seaosn buck on my own patch.Had a bunch of yearling buck encounters early bow, figured out some prime spots for my tree strands, enjoyed many hours in the woods and I almost dropped a nice 8 point in gun after an exciting encounter brought on by neighbors pushing while I was moving a tree stand. Despite the obvious decline in doe and fawn numbers his year, I had some good hunting. Almost forgot. Had a near encounter with the giant 10 pointer, Big-Boy on the second or 3rd day of Boy which was super fun. I hope he made it. Checking cameras later. Looking forward to harvest reports and seeing how things shape up for 2016. Already thinking about new stand spots! -
And of course, as with deer feed, the scents will be still be sold in the stores. It will just be a case of another law that folk will disregard

Which brands?

Had great results with Bob Kirschners this year. A 5 and 8 came snuffling in on a scent trail I made and walked right under my stand. This was opening day bow.
-
I am not impressed with the lack of durability or re-usability on many mechanical heads. Have ruined several just sighting in my bow with them.

No more fancy pants broad-heads for me. Carbon express do great budget heads. I brought a 10 point down with their native head. 3 heads for $15 And the result:
