  1. Maybe some shelter areas with a vantage point, I am trying to figure out my game plan too whilst waiting for my wife to return to watch our boys. Think i am going to a pine ridge that overlooks a ravine swamp and bordering young thick woods. Good luck.
  2. Well I went out to the additional 100 acres I got permission to hunt on the opposite side of the road from where I typically hunt. Went out last night and found a 6" cedar ripped to shreds. Saw 5 slip through the thick stiff last night. Froze my cahones off this AM saw one skipper on the walk out, and discovered runs everywhere. My face was so frozen I couldn't feel my lips, I thought I had Bells Paulsy lol. Can't wait to get back out there after my venison bacon cheesburger. nom nom nom.
  3. 9 in 13 years is pretty impressive in my book, keep it up.
  4. Well I got the day off because of the rain, and it is pouring here. I want to go out so badly but it is really coming down. Painful.
  5. Yeah, it's kind of crazy to sight in a gun freehand. I saw a guy trying to sight his gun in off hand. We were all scratching our heads.
  6. Just curious and not trying to get off your topic buuuttt, were you using your Model 70? I noticed in one of your pics you had one leaning up against a tree for a comparison to a rub. Also, what caliber is it? I have a Model 70 XTS .25-06. Best 400 bucks I ever spent. The guy I bought it from put a crappy BSA scope on it and that is why I missed my deer last year at 60 yards. I can't believe he put a $100 scope on a $1000 gun. Anyway, best of luck to you, I too like hearing your story.
  7. My buddy's dragged their bear out of a swamp with not a tree around to make it worth their while to use a come along. That's not redneck by the way, that's just smart!
  8. What a POS. Really? Steal a head off of someone's deer. I read in the local paper years ago an article in the letters to the editor section about an old timer that had his "deer of his lifetime" stolen from a tree in his yard in the town of Argyle, NY. Just incredibly low. Hope the guy that did it is found and stoned in the town square.
  9. Some of the guys on here have edited photos to censor the persons face or plate #. I dunno about legalities though.
  10. LOL. Gotta tell my BIL that one, he's a masshole.
  11. LOL. Yeah someone from downstate entered it.
  12. There was a 660# bear on ADK Hunter last year or the year before. It's no longer in their archives though. I think it was from Schroon or Long Lake. That wheeler in the picture looks freighted big time, and the legs are pushing the fender in on it too. It looks mighty stiff though with the legs stretched like that. My buddy just got a bear that went 350 dressed out and it sat out overnight in a frosty night. I will try to make a post with pics soon. Four guys could barely load it into a pickup.
  13. it was CLEARLY attacked by a mountain lion.
  14. Looks good. For $90 bucks it is beyond perfect.
  15. Well Backwoods you are on the right track. Keep it up. Did you recheck your sighting? I missed one last year at 60 yards. My scope crapped the bed on me. Still hurts to talk about it!
  16. Lucky you! The guy I am working for has us booked through rifle season. All summer I'd work a week and have half a week or more off. I was hopeful of having a break the first week of December but we stopped and looked at job on the way home and got it booked for Dec 1st. Thanks a lot Dave.
