  1. HAHA! A local mom and pop store has that posted near the beer cooler! that dude has got to be rugged.
  2. Heck yeah! It does apply! Got a topic in mind already!
  3. Yeah I know. I tried feeling out the situation for a QDM type thing with one of the other hunters. He didn't respond. I believe he shoots whatever comes to him with antlers. Everyone wants to shoot a big buck there, just nobody wants to put the effort in. The one I got was at the low end of my standards, that is for darn sure. He was tasty though. Anyway if I knew other people had the same feelings about letting you ones walk he would be alive still. Nobody around that property lets an 8 walk regardless of how young it is. A spike or a 3 might walk, but people see an 8 and it is game over. A double standard for sure. The spot where I see the biggest deer are 1 mile in at the deepest point of the property. There isn't another road for another 3 miles so I know there are big ones up there every year, seen some huge rubs and tracks. They have a low pressure refuge that receives barely, if any pressure, from the hunters. I wish I could get in another 1/2 mile or so.
  4. I hunt property that the access is from the south. I got permission from another land owner to the east to walk in through her property... only problem is I have a 1000 elevation hike that starts right form the road and goes straight up. I usually have to strip down for the walk to the top. It sucks. But that's what I got to do, it took me 7 years to figure out it was fruitless to walk in from where the other yahoos go. I get to my stand early and let them spook everything. By the end of the season I can run up that damn hill with out getting winded.
  5. scumbag piece of trash. someday one of these bastards will get collared by the wrong dude, and it won't be good.
  6. Best of luck with the recovery. As long as the shot wasn't too low you are golden!
  7. LOL.. give her a coupla years and she'll hoggin' at the bar.
  8. Boy he did a number on it too... sure show'd you
  9. Imagine if Early reads this thread (and knows what an IPOD is). I usually don't bring anything out with me. I am the last 30 year old in the state without a cell phone. I usually end up knoding off, bt still aware of every noise, at least i like to think i am.
  10. They don't look they are from upstate, we grow our sisters fatter up here, it's better fer burthin' youngins'.
  11. For me it depends how the back is. So far this year I haven't done an all day'r yet. Opening weekend of rifle I always sit all day.
  12. LOL... oh man almost dropped my laptop.
  13. I should have said there is usually "A" big one. This year I met up with a guy the hunts the same land. He has had four cameras out all year. He saw two small 8's, one of which I plugged, twin three points and an assortment of what he called scrub bucks. I told him about the one bruiser I saw and he was blown away, he hd no footage ofany big bucks. If the yahoos during rifle stay away from my spot I think I have a chance at a good one, but the buck usually come from another propertyand it is about 1 mile in. It took me years to get dialed in on that one area!
  14. My preference would absolutely be the .308. i have killed about 10 deer with mine and the furthest they have gone is 10 ft. I use 150 corelocks. i have used superx's but after 4 misfires i one box i will never use them again
  15. Yeah, the spot and land is the deciding factor for me this year. The main spot I hunt is close quarters. 60 yards is a stretch for that area. I certainly wouldn't like to have a bruiser show up in one of those few spots that are out of bow range. 35-40 yards is a the max for me with a archery, definitely wouldn't feel comfortable taking a shot at anything above 40 yards. Guess I'll decide when the time comes.
  16. This sort of thing happens in Washington County all the time. I am sure it does everywhere. Around here though I have heard countless stories about people poaching. I have heard of one fool poaching a deer from someone front lawn with lights on in the house, using a cross bow. My brother's neighbor usually hears a dozen or so shot in the middle of the night every year, close to his house. Last year alone he found 2 8pt, 1 7pt, and a 6pt dead in the field. Disgusting.
  17. Hey my county finally was brought up on the site! I am not surprised with all the scumbags around here. He said it was shot so imagine he eliminated the car theory. I now there is a coop in the southern end of the county. There is also a several thousand QDMA hunting club near me. What a crock of s.........
