  1. I picked up the Grizzly Stik Massai 125g single bevel broad heads. The fly true and are rock solid. I picked them up for early bear season because i wanted something with a serious punch. Very nice broadhead but pretty expensive
  2. Have had multiple cameras running since August and typically get a decent amount of pics each time i check the cameras. within the last 2 weeks I have had maybe 7-8 pictures total. It seems that ALL of the movement has stopped. Ive never seen it like this before. Idk if its the warmth or what, but with nothing on the ground, it seems like I'll be eating a Bacon, Lettuce, and Tag sandwich come the 31st. I'm hoping for a buzzer beater this weekend with the cold weather coming in. But who knows, tough tough season.
  3. It is my understanding that in an area without a gun season (Westchester ), You can use your regular season tag as a second archery tag. I havent taken anything this season, but just chiming in
  4. Saw a bunch of small bucks this weekend.. all solo. The doe that I saw all looked very skittish and were almost "hiding. 2 new bucks on camera and scrapes everywhere. Just waiting for daytime activity
  5. Had a spike come in yest morning and after he left decided to practice my rattling. At 75 yards he heard the rattle and turned around and started heading my way again. After playing with him for a little I turned around and saw a basket 7ptr (1.5yr old) come runnin in from down wind. Watched him for a bit then they both walked off. After that was quiet for 7 hours. This morning real quiet too. Saw a huge scrape by my other stand and got a new 8ptr on camera at 4am who scraped up the whole area. Hunting one of the scrapes as he came in 2 days ago in daylight too. Trying to make it happen today!!
  6. Was in the stand at 5:45 and used a drag rag for the first time. As soon as I started climbing my sticks I looked back and saw 4 raccoons walking right over my path. I flashed a light at them and they scurried off. At about 6:30 had a doe walk by with spike on her ass. They walked on by and I decided to test my grunting and was able to pull him off her. He came by and was walking around my stand and followed my drag rag the opposite direction. 15 minutes goes by and I saw two deer fighting in the distance. Seems that spike found a smaller spike and was muscling him around. I took the rattlers out and gave a light set. He chased off the smaller spike and came steaming in over to me again. Ended up having to leave the stand at 9:00 so that I could catch the train. Checked my camera and got a pic of a gorgeous 8 that I've been following mid day. Seems like I'm gonna hit the stand sun up to sun down sat and sunday and hope to catch this big boy Seems like its starting up!
  7. Everyone is so self righteous its hilarious. @jjb - That is the exact reason i stopped using them. Seem Flimsy as hell
  8. Was going to take (2) half days this week and hunt the weekend. Reports don't seem crazy yet, so hopefully by the weekend things will pop off!
  9. DUDE... That is a huge, huge bummer
  10. Damn 11 bucks... crushing it! Neighbors dog chased a doe away saturday morning so I moved my stand to a ridge about 200 yards away. Had between 7-8 Doe/Fawn come in last night and bed right around my stand for about 2 hours. Something spooked em off at last light and as soon as it was too dark to see, I heard a big boy come through. Saw his silhouette, but it was through the trees and was WAY passed last shooting light. Made sure he was gone before i climbed down. Gonna take 2 half days this week and hunt the afternoons, Haven't had much luck in the mornings
  11. Going in at 3:00. Seen very little movement the last 8 sits. Hopefully things will fire up for me this weekend!
  12. What an absolute scumbag. Totally respect how cool you played it and how diplomatic you were. But as soon as he said that he has a lot of time to sneak on your land I'd just call the cops. Sounds like a real entitled asshole
  13. No doubt that rage broad heads produce massive wound channels, but I hate the fact that you need those small rubber bands to lock the blades in. NAP killzones are a much better head IMO. They click into place and create the exact same wound. I also feel that rage is not made as well as the NAP Killzone, but that is just my opinion I currently switched over to fixed broadheads only because you get more knock down power and will never fail to open. Hopefully this weekend i can send a pic of the damage a GrizzlyStik Massai broad head can do.
  14. I bought the Kuiu Chuggach rain jacket in Verde and the waterproof tundra glove shell I wore it for 4 hours in the pouring rain and was completely dry. It is a 4 way stretch so it fits really well, even if you have a large jacket underneath it. I couldn't recommend it more
  15. Awesome shots dude! I saw one for the first time in the woods opening weekend, very cool animal.
  16. Hear about it but never used it, what is it?
  17. That is a SERIOUS deer! I'd be sick if he showed up and i wasn't there haha
  18. They are called Blue Trevally and that is the coloring of the fish. Insanely awesome and they fight hard too. Caught it on my Tuna trip in Panama.
  19. Some fishing pics http://file///Users/steve/Desktop/IMG_6509.JPG'>
  20. Had a buddy have a camera stolen from his property. His neighbor was a hunter and didn't like the fact that my buddy's stand was within 200 yards of his property line. They had words previously because he would tell his friends they could ride their quads on my buddys land a bunch of times. His camera went missing and he went right to the guys house and knocked on his door. Called his bluff and told him he had a 2nd camera off his stand and saw him walking away with his gear. The guy actually went into his garage and gave him back the camera! I would have given that scumbag a 5 finger across his face, but my buddy said the guy's wife was standing there. Some people are complete scumbags.
  21. I have been looking at Alpha hang on 2 with climbing sticks for a year now and am thinking of pulling the trigger. I love how light it is and how easy it looks to set up. I am 6'3" 225lbs and am way too much of a wuss to use a climbing stand. the Comfort zone hang on that i have is built like SH*T. I replaced the cables with chain and added 2 more ratchet straps to it, so it feels sturdy enough. The actual construction is terrible, not to mention it probably weights 30lbs ( which is a bummer hanging 16' in the air by yourself) A buddy of mine got permission to hunt new property this weekend and did some scouting Saturday morning. He found what looked like a bedding area and took 10 minutes to put the lone wolf climbing sticks up and LW hang on stand in. He ended up dropping a gorgeous 8ptr that afternoon. No trail cam pics or prior scouting, just great hunting intuition. I was wondering if anyone has the Lone Wolf Alpha hang on and have any good experience with it. I just love the idea of being able to move your stand in 10 minutes and hunt a new area ( But hate climbers) Thanks, Stevie Sacs
  22. Was on stand Saturday afternoon and squirted some Doe in esterous out around the stand. When I went back in Sunday morning there was a HUGE scrape 20' from my stand. Cant wait to get back out again
  23. I have the fanatic jacket, core hoody, and the incinerator gloves. Sitka is very expensive, but it feels tailored to your body and has so many little well thought out pockets and accessories. Core hoody is good for early season and to throw on over your base layers. It zips up passed your mouth and becomes a face mask, which i thought was really cool. I don't have any of the bibs or pants since I Use the spyder harness/bibs ( hands down best piece of hunting clothing that i own), I have to say their gear is second to non, especially if you get cold quickly and need some quality gear. I recently bought the Kuiu Chugach rain jacket and it is incredible. Sat in the rain for four hours in 40 degree weather and was dry as a bone. it packs down to almost nothing, so you can bring it in your pack with you just incase you get hit with unexpected rain. Highly recommend
