Anyone Tried Winter Peas?
Bballhunter11 replied to Cabin Fever's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
It is true cabin that peas are like candy to deer and that is on of the problems usually the deer will hardly ever let them grow especially if just planted alone in a small planting. Not sure how many acres you are looking at planting but mixing the peas with something else to try and protect them would be an effective solution. They will bring the deer running especially if they get established and growing. Have you done a soil test on your other plots sometimes bad pH or low nutrients will lessen a food plots attractiveness to the deer. -
nice list eddie, most of these are actually true lol

depends on your goals i would say. How many acres u looking to spray and with what? Atv, tractor? that looks like one hell of a sprayer though

Dont believe high power rifle is allowed or safe where most of fields shots are taken in Jersey, maybe im wrong but believe thats the case. Difference in shooting a deer or turkey with a bow from a woodchuck pistolp?
-
Nice videos field, are u sure u can call some of those wood chucks? some of those were pretty big
-
o ok the 223 restriction makes a difference. I agree with Doc dont discount used guns i just recently bought a used savage model 25 in 223 on gunbroker.com tons of 223s on there and auctionarms.com. I would say if u are looking for an accurate varmint rifle go with a quality remington or savage in your price range.

I have handled and used both the Savage and 700 SPS and the 700 is a better gun and action. But for 330 dollars the edge is a solid gun doesnt feel as cheap as it is. Why didnt u include the marlin XL7 or mossberg 100 atr i think they are the best guns for the money but i am not a big thompson center fan

I have two or three small plots i am going to plant this fall and put stands near and was thinking of planting a Biologic Outfitters Blend mix in them to try this year. This blend has triticale, Winter peas, wheat and oats in it. Has anyone tried a mix like this before or this exact mix? Down sides, advantages??

i hear the dec is proposing an oct 1st start to the 2012 season
Bballhunter11 replied to Pat Rockets's topic in Bow Hunting
Yea it cuts into my goose hunting time lol i guess thats a good choice to have what to hunt when you wake up in the morning. I wonder what is the DECs motivation on opening the season earlier? Larger take? more hunter involvement? just curious to what there goals are here -

I won the new hampshire lottery 4 years ago so i can start to apply next year again. The group i hunt with applies every year so we are waiting to hear on that lottery. Maine is to long odds for my taste.

o ok gotcha. Yea a good time was had in camp which makes it worth while now back to plotting and getting ready for bow season and goose season

Made it back ok but empty handed no bear dropped down on the ground. Ny not sure what you mean by late we were actually early and bear movement was minimal at best because of the low temps started to pick up the last couple days we were there and started to see more but never did close the deal, leaned alot about hunting bears and hope to go back next year.

In about two hours our group will be heading to Blue walleye outpost in upper Quebec for spring bears and fishing. Hope to post pics on here as we get them up there and return with lots of stories to tell. Good luck to anyone else going and have a good memorial day to everyone else.

Woodchuck Head Shot In NJ Over The Weekend!
Bballhunter11 replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in General Hunting
blur you ever try woodchuck? Kind of relate it to fishing for carp about all they are good for is to catch not worth eating. Field i do the same just dust the chucks and leave them for nature to clean up they can cause the farmers thousands of dollars in damage to equipment and hours to fix the holes. Only good chuck is a dead one haha -
