  1. Well, that about puts it over the top. It's only 200$ more. Further question, since you've actually mounted one: I need the Picatinny rail AND mounting attachment, correct? https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1016938323
  2. That's a good point. Will any of these optics hold up to 3.5" shells? You have a semi or a pump, Moog?
  3. I get it, I really do. I'm sure some cool cucumbers who don't make dumb mistakes in the heat of the moment, always line up he barrel properly no matter the angle/position would never need this. I know myself well enough that I get fired up and still make mistakes. Anything I can do to minimize that is helpful from my end. I've been reading reviews online, was just hoping for some feedback from members *cough* @Buckmaster7600 *cough* as to the efficacy of these. Maybe something about what Leupold brings to the table that Vortex doesn't?
  4. I really like my m3500 so far. Speaking of which:. Red Dot scope users, what do these bring to the table? The m3500 only has a single bead in the front, so I'm very seriously considering either a vortex venom or a Leupold Deltapoint pro. My real question is:. If I have the shotgun turned slightly, the red dot also moves too? I've never used one, but I assume that's whole point! So while the bead on the end of the barrel might be on the gobblers head, in actuality 8m aiming slightly off, the red dot will show that?
  5. May not feel the shoulder, but you feel the shiner you get sometimes shooting at a hard angle! Noticing better pattern at 50 with the 3.5" than the 3" too.
  6. Can't say I'm partial to one or the other, but I'd say your odds are better in the woods on a big/old gobbler. The only real old gobbler that comes to mind in a field situation only came because his harem forced him to. Killed alot of dumb 2 year olds that way though!
  7. She's a big girl and she'll pop you in the cheek, Dave! But if you really want to try her out I'm sure it could be arranged! I'm still waffling on whether or not to get the red dot scope for her. I'm leaning towards yes.
  8. Abdominal Hernia anybody? Never even at my bulkiest. That was about my max for squats/deadlifts/front squats, nevermind in ball form.
  9. I'm gonna have to real damn careful at close range, margin for error is very low.
  10. Law seems lazy and/or people with no idea what the difference is (read: politicians). TSS #9 should be, lead it should NOT be. Hell if they're trying to discourage people from using lead, TSS #9 should be preferable.
  11. https://www.outdoorlife.com/gear/best-turkey-loads/ Interesting read on density of TSS vs lead.
  12. Rapidly falling in love with the new shotgun, a Stoeger M3500 Predator/Turkey combo. And I very much like the new choke tube: https://www.kicks-ind.com/products/mobilchoke-gobblin-thunder-12g-choke-tube Just thought I'd pop some pictures in here. All this batch is from the new choke, I'll put the pattern from the choke it came with in another post! But I'm not super impressed with the Hevi mag blend. I did just get in some TSS 7&9 3 1/2" that I'll try out soon.
  13. Looking good, Dave! What arrows/heads you going to launch out of that mean looking lady?
  14. I love your single mindedness. If you're ever in the capital region come murder all my coyotes, evidently I suck at it.
  15. Oddly enough, I found a Benelli SBH2 today, but this thing was so dirty and scuffed inside the action, barrel, I just didn't trust it. Guy was willing to go down to 1k on it, but I went with the brand new Stoeger for 800$ instead. Came with a predator and a turkey choke too.
  16. Field and stream in Latham had actual turkey rounds this afternoon. Both Winchester super X and XR longboards. Also 270 and a good variety of core lokts.
  17. Depends hitting the sand all over the beach at the sight of the retired fireman........
  18. You should be allowed to! Also I shouldn't have posted this here, nobody can see it because of what a swamp this area of the forums has become.
  19. Pasting in an email I received from the NDA. I need to read through it but it seems like @grampy gets to rest his big-buck-serial-killer shoulder and hunt with an xbow during archery? New York Senate Bill 7747 (S7747) would allow youth hunters ages 12-16 and senior hunters ages 55+ to hunt with a crossbow during special archery seasons. The bill also removes current minimum limb width and maximum draw weight restrictions. The National Deer Association (NDA) supports the inclusion of crossbows as a legal method of take for deer and other species within appropriate seasons, wherever practical and possible, and we especially support the use of crossbows if their use positively impacts a deer management program and helps recruit and retain more hunters. TAKE ACTION Please consider joining the NDA in supporting this important legislation. New York S7747 expands opportunities for youth and senior hunters, and it also amends language to keep up with the changes in modern crossbow design and technology. Visit our Advocacy Center to ask your lawmakers to support the bill. MORE INFO The NDA is dedicated to ensuring the future of wild deer, wildlife habitat and hunting. We are more interested in managing deer and habitat appropriately and protecting our hunting heritage than debating use of specific weapons. However, if the use of crossbows positively impacts a deer management program and helps recruit and retain more hunters, the NDA fully supports their use. New York S7747 expands opportunities for youth and senior hunters, and it also amends language to keep up with the changes in modern crossbow design and technology, allowing hunters to choose from a broader selection of options. Additionally, S7747 addresses a number of priorities that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) has outlined in its Management Plan for White-Tailed Deer in New York State, 2021–2030 (Deer Plan). These priorities include reducing the minimum age for youth to hunt with a crossbow to a uniform age of 12 and that the restrictions on crossbow size (e.g., minimum limb width) and maximum draw weight be removed from law so that the agency can set more appropriate standards which are effective and humane for deer hunting and consistent with crossbow technology
  20. Nice! I got this one this past fall, used, from a buddies brother. Should be able to haul my tractor with it, and any other toys I can think of.
  21. Beautiful backdrop, and I like that he didn't fish-hands it.
