  1. I have had that happen when carrying it slung. Do you have the model where the release lever hangs below the trigger guard, or the one where the knurled button is in front of the trigger guard?
  2. From what I read on another forum, the owner was in poor health and looking to retire. He made sure to emphasize that it wasn't for lack of business or a protest to the SAFE Act like when Jackson's closed.
  3. Sorry to break it to you, Moog, but according to the interwebs Pro Gun in Victor closed up shop back in April. Is it the one on NY-96 you were talking about, or is there another location?
  4. Thanks, Eddie. I appreciate the help.
  5. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'll check them all out. It'll give me an excuse to explore the area too.
  6. Looking for a pre-Remington Marlin 336C in .30-30. I've finally decided I can't call myself a Northeastern deer hunter if I don't have a lever gun in my safe.
  7. Hey all, I just moved to Rochester from the Buffalo area last week. I'm in the market for a used rifle and told a buddy I'd keep an eye out for a few items on his list. I'm having really bad luck separating the good from the bad on Google. Can anyone in the area point me in the direction of a few good shops in the area?
  8. Beautiful gun. I'm in the market for a used Marlin 336 now, but I wouldn't hesitate to consider that one if I were planning on buying new.
  9. I used to be ok with it. Then my one cat escaped out a ripped screen door we didn't notice. He doesn't wear a collar or tags since he's an indoor cat, but that means no one would know him from the stray. He did come back three days later, but it was still sad and had the Mrs. very upset while he was gone. Now when I see feral cats, with the exception of the ones that have been in the neighborhood for years, I can't help but think that maybe it's just someone's house pet that escaped and they're hoping it comes back. I can't bring myself to do it after that.
  10. Write, shoot, and eat leftie. Do everything else righty.
  11. I only ever buy used tires with 75% tread. Last time I bought 4 tires, installed, with a new steel rim (I slid into a curb on some ice in the winter) all for $205.
  12. Aside from BS high school and college jobs, I was a professional EMT for 2 years. I went back to law school and graduate in May. I am working as a judicial clerk starting in August.

    Hard Water Fishing

Buddies of mine have been killing the lakers on Lake George. I haven't made it out yet. I foolishly agreed to help my parents remodel their new house and between that, work, and school, it has monopolized my weekends.
  14. Larry, what section of craigslist are you frequenting that you're just "stumbling" across these postings?
  15. Did anyone else notice the irony that a thread directing that political threads no longer be posted in general chit chat forum has become a political thread posted in the general chit chat forum?
  16. It's a shame they're not my size. I've been wearing the same pair of Acadias eights months a year for 5 years straight. Having them re-soled when the weather breaks. Highly recommend them to anyone reading this thread who is on the fence.
  17. Google "State Lands Interactive Mapper" Then go to caltopo.com and cross-reference. That's how I found my spots.
  18. This is where the phrase "good enough for government work" comes from.
  19. dredge in flour, dip in eggwash, bread with Panko breadcrumbs, wrap in bacon, pan fry in oil for 2 minutes per side, and bake for 20 minutes at 350. This is boneless so adjust your time/temperature accordingly.
  20. "Not tonight, I have a headache."
  21. Wonderful. We're idiots in two languages.
  22. Referring to your significant other as "bae." I cringe at the thought of what my generation's contribution to American culture will be.
