In the market for a semi automatic rifle
Caveman replied to Deerthug's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Penal Law 265.00(22)(a) reads: “ 'Assault weapon' means . . . a semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following characteristics" I'm not a licensed attorney so my opinion shouldn't be given any weight, but the "ability to accept" language would make me think twice about the bullet button if it were me. -

That, I don't know. I'm coming more from the perspective that whether they DO enforce it or not, they CAN. Kind of like how you can drive 70 mph on the 33 and no one cares, but there's always the possibility they can decide to care one day and it won't matter that they let you get away with it every other time. -

I don't know if anyone can answer that since it's a new law and a new product. I think the more salient question is with a D felony on the table at best, do you want to take that chance? -
Even better is what Apple has done, Doc. I have an iphone 4s (I believe they are now on 6 or so). I don't need the latest model, just a functioning smartphone. I now have to ditch my phone soon because Apple has continually put out newer operating systems that are not very compatible with my old hardware. As a result, I don't install those new operating systems and the more out of date my OS gets, the more problems my phone gives me as far as not receiving texts, dropping calls, closing apps/internet browser. They have effectively forced me to get a new phone even though there is no reason mine should not be functional.

The sad part is that many hunters will take a different lesson from this. Instead of "know the regs," it's "this is why you don't report your kill."

I'm not sure a cop is the best source of legal info. One of my favorite professors once said "don't take legal advice from a cop any quicker than you would take dental advice from an auto mechanic." Sure, a cop can offer insight into how such a situation might be handled in the field, but that's a often a poor indication of the correct answer as a matter of law. Just a thought. EDIT: Just saw that your question is being sent to the legal dept. If that means administrative attorneys, I retract the above.

No line at the Dick's in Webster. Picked up 8g and 9f.

On the other forum I frequent there is an emoji that beats a dead horse with a stick. Sometimes I wish it was available on this forum.

Someone should keep a tally of that type of post. So far, in the last few weeks we had a guy who wants to make booby traps for ATVs, a guy who openly admitted his desire to kill someone over a $150 treestand, and now someone who wants to sling lead at trespassers. At least there will be a plethora of evidence on this forum once all of the "hunting accidents" start happening.

You know, Moog, I thought of you yesterday. I was on cars.com looking at trucks and one of them had a pre-installed bed rug. I pointed it out and my wife said, "but what about deer blood?" Some people just don't get it.

Only on this forum can a thread about hunting annoyances become a theological debate.

That's pretty ballsy to not only hunt your land in the face of denial, but to actually hunt your stands.

The real shame is that it was euthanized before it could contact an attorney and be compensated for its injuries.

I was an EMT in the City of Buffalo (Rural/Metro) for 2 years before I went back to school. I used to say that if I was ever injured in the city I would drag my half-dead body to the neighboring suburb and call their EMS before I would ever allow Rural/Metro to be called.

Even if the landowner isn't allowed to tag a deer someone else shot, how are you going to prove that's what happened? It's a "your word vs his word" situation. The DEC isn't going to perform a forensic analysis of a deer carcass over a couple of hundred dollar fine. Seems like a moot point to me.

My climber is almost the exact same. It's a field and Stream from Dick's. I'm not a hug fan. It's bulky and awkward to set up. It's very comfortable once you're in the tree, but holy cow is it a pain to get up there.

Sorry for your loss. Take some solace in the fact that you gave an older dog a good home when most wouldn't and showed her 3 years of love. It doesn't matter how many times you do it, it doesn't get easier.

In terms of your daily life, no. But, the difference between 2 and 3 cats is the difference between being "people who have cats" and "cat people." Trust me, my wife and I have two and I have vetoed a third many times. Actually, it's a good thing she isn't a member here.

My hound dog, Cooper, gets weird too. Thunder or fireworks and he sits in your lap shaking like a leaf. I haven't even tried with gun shots yet since he runs and cowers at the sight of a gun, let alone the sound.

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong
Caveman replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
The euro I made last year came out great. I went to a cosmetic store, Sally Beauty Supply I think, and bought the strongest powered whitener and the strongest paste whitener they had. I mixed them together into the consistency of frosting and applied with a toothbrush. Let it sit for 12-15 hours and washed it off. -
I was reading a report this morning that this year's acorn crop is the heaviest in 50 years. If that's true, it could mean that the deer no longer have to come to your oak grove to find acorns.

As a Bills fan, my favorite week is BYE week. It's the only time all season I don't have to be disappointed for 14 straight days.

Only time that ever happened to me was at the bow rack at Dick's. I sat there pulling and pulling like an idiot. Then, when I looked at the bow the string was zip-tied to the cables to prevent customers from dry firing.

Looks great. I actually have venison stew in the pot now. My last two packages of venison from last season.

Google it.
