  1. Seasonal means if you go in during the wrong season, you won't get back out until the next season.
  2. Congrats on your freezer filler!
  3. Glad things worked out for you. Didn't mean to have you get slammed. I was just trying to point out that I didn't think that was kosher. Next time I will PM the person.
  4. In my 34 years of hunting, I only hunted from a stand once before this year and I have taken plenty of deer. This was the first year the I hunted mostly from a stand. I have to say I really enjoy it. It is probably just the new perspective. Granted, watching a buck walk past at five yards as you lean against a hay bale is quite an experience. I have enjoyed the treestands this year, though.
  5. Congrats. You did the right thing (asking permission) and will reap the benefits because of it. Good luck with the rest of the season.

    Accuracy

Luck only takes you so far. I would say it is some good shooting!
  7. It is hard to not say 10. I have taken many deer, but this year I got my first (and second) with a bow, including an eight point. I saw turkeys most days I was out. I saw deer most days. In honesty, I guess I would have to put it around an 8. There are very few days I go out hunting that I would rate below a 5.
  8. Nice shot. One less of those nasty buggers out there.
  9. Almost hit a nice (eight point, at least) buck on the way to work yesterday, but this morning I had to stop to allow five jakes to cross in front of me. Do they not understand the implecations of Turkey Day??
  10. I know most of the bow hunters are packing up for the year, but many of you are still using treestands. Yet another death (in Orleans County) due to a treestand. Please, please be careful. http://www.fingerlakes1.com/news-link.php?aid=7320664
  11. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We are all indebted to your uncle for his service. I don't know where you are located, but if you contact your local VFW, they should help you provide a military color guard for the funeral if desired.
  12. I remember school being closed the first two days of season. I remember hunting with all of my uncles and cousins. I remember cutting up deer in my uncle's barn while Uncle Jiggs fried up the backstraps.

    TSA

FastEddie, heard that on the radio last night. Awesome idea. To be honest, though, having spent much time overseas and in the military, we are never going to stop a motivated foe. Why inconvenience ourselves to this level? (And, remember, this is government run so it is never going to be very efficient.)
  14. I'm with you. Three in the gun and three in the pocket. If I take the muzzleloader, one in the gun and two reloads.
  15. I seldom get to hunt a whole day, so usually just some water and a candy bar. If I go out for longer, a sandwich, granola or candy bar, and a diet Dew. I always try to eat something before I head out, though, so no grumbling stomach to deal with.
  16. Great idea, Eddie. I will have to try that.
  17. I took two deer from the same stand on the same day this season. When I recovered the second arrow, it was within two feet of where I recovered the first arrow. They were shot about eight hours apart.
  18. Awesome buck! (And from the home county, too!)
  19. Nice find. Have you seen him this year?
  20. Rifle?!? Bite your tongue. He will be a bowhunter like his Grandpa! Of course, he will need a rifle for varmints, and a shotgun for squirrels, and camo, and a fishing rod........
  21. Congrats! My first grandson was born this morning!!
