  1. Your children's doctor asked a question out of concern for their well being. Some pediatricians provide literature about safe gun storage to avoid accidents involving children. Why not just ensure her that your guns are safely stored and thank her for her concern? If she responds with her own personal agenda related to guns, then tell her off.
  2. Sorry. I shoulda let you guys get each other all lathered up first.
  3. Actually Ants, you can tell. It takes about two minutes.
  4. Larry, what you just posted is absolutely not the same as the original post. Not even close. Read them both. I don't blame you for being sensitive to the subject- I'm out of school almost twenty years and still paying back my loans.
  5. I ask again....do you guys vet anything?? Really? The Daily Currant is a satyrical paper.. as in fictitious. Look toward the bottom of the page you posted for other headlines that are from articles just as credible as the one you're all ranting about: NASA finds message from God on Mars Nancy Grace arrested for murder Republicans support Obamacare if called Reagancare John McCain calls for invasion of Hong Kong Holy geez. Some of you are so desperate to be angry that you invent reasons.
  6. If the doctor asked the question in order to provide information regarding safe gun handling and storage, I see no issue- guns in the home are an obvious concern regarding the safety and well-being of children, which is of concern to pediatricians. However, if a 'yes' answer was responded to with a politically leaning answer in either direction, I would have a problem with that as well.
  7. This sounds like one particular teacher who used bad judgement and discussed his/her own personal beliefs in the classroom. I hunt with a bunch of guys who are all teachers. I've never seen anything to suggest that teachers in general are against hunting or that schools have an anti-hunting agenda. I think that a lot of guys on this forum are very anti-education and anti-teacher and that's why this thread is getting so much attention.
  8. Is that really true? I'm picturing OJ trying on the bloody glove and making that face...'it doesn't fit'. It seems that if the law requires it, there should be a proven or patented technology that makes compliance possible. Are they saying that there is no existing technology or that microstamping in and of itself is not effective for it's intended effect?
  9. Can't tell the size of that pack from the picture. But, I haven't ever been impressed with the quality of the hunting gear sold at Dick's. I'd bet you could find something of a lot better quality for the same or better price in the Bargain Cave at Cabela's website.
  10. I could see the recovery issue being a problem in some cases. Fair point.
  11. A mistake, why? Let me guess.... he's hoping that new hunters will only buy bows... all a part of his master plan to rid the state of guns.
  12. If other nations or 'some outside entity' were interested in 'usurping our 2A rights', they could simply stop allowing exportation of their weapons into the US.
  13. I still can't figure out how to copy and paste. But, there's an online article in the East End paper- the website is 27east.com. Cuomo is proposing to allow a 150ft setback for bowhunting.
  14. I used to subscribe years ago. I never found it to be all that good. If I remember right, it was more focused on fishing than hunting.
  15. Totally agree. It's a brutal and cowardly crime and perps should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. When appropriate, hate crime charges should be applied as well to increase penalties.
  16. Blue coupe, are you serious? I'm playing the race card? Did you actually read the posts before mine. I was challenging others who were steering this thread down that road.
  17. I doubt that he really meant that anyone should actually leave NYS. I think that his point was that society has moved on from those antiquated ideals.
  18. Oh look who's back to stand up for the poor downtrodden white race.
  19. I actually just googled it and it looks like there are many examples of people being charged with hate crimes.
  20. I believe there have been hate crime charges when there has been a pattern of attacks against Orthodox Jews. It's an awful crime, no doubt. But, if it's a series of attacks against varying victim groups, it's not a hate crime.
  21. Knockout perpetrators have been charged with hate crimes when they've been found to be targeting specific groups.
  22. There are extremists on both sides. I don't think that "the left" in general is in favor of banning all guns or for compromising peoples rights to defend themselves. Cuomo is lumping three common extreme-right positions (anti-gay, 'pro-life', gun nuts) together. The common theme among these general right wing positions is that they are antiquated beliefs. Agree or disagree with his politics. But, he is correct in that political positions, such as the pro-life and marriage inequality positions, which are based on dogmatic religious teachings, are becoming increasingly less acceptable in today's society. The gun issue doesn't fall into that same category. But, he may be right that society is moving in the direction of more gun control. Time will tell.
  23. Culver, do you apply the same thought process regarding these rights?
